The Sufi Order: Islamic Sufi Dhikr Circle

Sufism (Arabic: الصوفية‎ al-ṣūfiyya; Persian: تصوف‎ taṣawwuf ) is a concept in Islam, defined by scholars as the inner, mystical dimension of Islam; others contend that it is a perennial philosophy of existence that pre-dates religion, the expression of which flowered within the Islamic religion.
A practitioner of this tradition is generally known as a Sufi, (ṣūfī) (/ˈsuːfi/; صُوفِيّ). Sufis belong to different ṭuruq or "orders"-congregations formed around a master-which meet for spiritual sessions (majalis), in meeting places known as zawiyahs, khanqahs, or tekke. e.g. Khanqah Khairiyyah
All Sufi orders (turuq) trace many of their original precepts from the Islamic prophet Muhammad through his cousin and son-in-law Ali ibn Abi Talib, with the notable exception of the Sunni Naqshbandi order who claim to trace their origins through the first sunni Caliph, Abu Bakr. However, Alevi, Bektashi and Shia Muslims claim that every Sufi order traces its spiritual lineage (silsilah or Silsila) back to one of the Twelve Imams (even the Naqshbandi silsilah leads to the sixth imam Ja'far al-Sadiq and Salman the Persian, a renowned follower of the first imam Ali ibn Abi Talib), the spiritual heads of Islam who were foretold in the Hadith of the Twelve Successors and were all descendants of Muhammad through his daughter Fatima and Ali. Because of this Ali ibn Abi Talib is also called the "father of Sufism". Prominent orders include Alevi, Bektashi, Burhaniya, Mevlevi, Ba 'Alawiyya, Chishti, Rifa'i, Khalwati, Naqshbandi, Nimatullahi, Oveyssi, Qadiria Boutshishia, Qadiriyyah, Qalandariyya, Sarwari Qadiri, Shadhiliyya and Suhrawardiyya.
Sufis believe that they are practicing ihsan (perfection of worship) as revealed by Gabriel to Muhammad: "Worship and serve Allah as you are seeing Him and while you see Him not yet truly He sees you". Sufis consider themselves to be the original true proponents of this pure original form of Islam. Sufism is opposed by Wahhabi and Salafist Muslims.
Classical Sufi scholars have defined Sufism as "a science whose objective is the reparation of the heart and turning it away from all else but Allah". Alternatively, in the words of the Darqawi Sufi teacher Ahmad ibn Ajiba, "a science through which one can know how to travel into the presence of the Divine, purify one's inner self from filth, and beautify it with a variety of praiseworthy traits".
Muslims and mainstream scholars of Islam define Sufism as simply the name for the inner or esoteric dimension of Islam which is supported and complemented by outward or exoteric practices of Islam, such as Islamic law. In this view, "it is absolutely necessary to be a Muslim" to be a true Sufi, because Sufism's "methods are inoperative without" Muslim "affiliation". In contrast, author Idries Shah states Sufi philosophy is universal in nature, its roots predating the rise of Islam and Christianity. Some schools of Sufism in Western countries allow non-Muslims to receive "instructions on following the Sufi path". Some Muslim opponents of Sufism also consider it outside the sphere of Islam.
Classical Sufis were characterized by their attachment to dhikr, (a practice of repeating the names of God, often performed after prayers) and asceticism. Sufism gained adherents among a number of Muslims as a reaction against the worldliness of the early Umayyad Caliphate (661-750 CE). Sufis have spanned several continents and cultures over a millennium, originally expressing their beliefs in Arabic, before spreading into Africa, Persian, Turkish, and Urdu among dozens of other languages.- As Sayyid Ali Mahdi

They're generally very open and welcoming communities :) Fun fact, this clip is taken from a movie "five minarets in new york" by Mahsun Kirmizgul, one of my favorite producers and singers in Turkey. How does light mix with darkness? No “good feeling” comes from the dark unless it’s a delusion like when satan offered Jesus the world. The world “feels” good but it’s a delusion. As a Christian, this is pagan and of the devil. The people, Christ died for but they aren’t serving God.

Jesus is coming soon. A big famine is coming soon. 666 Satan's ticket is coming. The time is up. Be prepared. During Abraham's time, Messiah didn't come. So he was forgiven for killing sheep or cattle with his blood. But now Messiah has come and bled for our sins at once on the cross. It's the blood of the holy God. I am forgiven for my sins with that blood. Jesus is God.

It's crazy that you even think that, but most importantly it's unfortunate. Unfortunate how you probably think that way of God because of some past experiences. Im gonna assume you where at some point Christian, since this view of God is mostly found in Christianity. (God is a man, the son of God, and resides in the Kingdom) That is the Christian view. We the Muslims. Our definition of God or the Creator is he is not a man, he is not a woman. He is not like you and me. The Origin (God) did not and can not come down to the Conclusion (Creation). Can you think of a new colour that does not resemble any other colour in existance? You cannot right? That same applies to God he does not resemble anything. He isn't like anything and surely the *CREATOR OF PLACES DOESN'T RESIDE IN A PLACE.*

God has sent angels that opened his chest in a vision and removed every sin from his heart so he could see God face to face. he then ascended into heaven and met all the prophets including the messiah - jesus peace be upon him. God gave him then the command to establish prayer and it has not stopped ever since then. the prayer we pray now was given to the prophet peace be upon him in the only point a man has ever spoken to God directly. its too powerful really.

GUYS, just so you know. Being Sufi does not mean you're not sunni anymore. It's a Philosophy that keeps the sunni/shia way of Practice, it just goes on a way deeper spiritual level than the main branches. I myself am sufi (although I'm not on a level like these guys are). The main thing Sufis are doing better is their constant dhikr. It does not change any practise we sunnis have, they just do almost anything (most) regular sufis more (in amount and frequenty) So don't hate And do not make up lies about your own brothers in Deen plz Asselam Alleykum to y'all!

Many of them died as very close friends of Allah. Then as islam spread and got diluted over many successful and not so successful eras... people then said we could worship Allah in an entertaining way and there was nothing wrong with adding halaal music... and some body movement... as generations went on this idea envolved step by step to what we have now.

Any addition to existing rituals and practices within islam which are either obligatory or wajib or sunnah would be biddah. As biddah is addition to the religion. 3. Sufi practices are not considered as sunnah or obligatory nor are they considered as wajib nor do they do any addition to the existing rituals of the religion. Therefore these practices are not haram nor are they makruh. 4. If something is not fard or obligatory or sunnah or wajib or makruh or haram then it is either mubah(permissible) or musthab(better to do) 5. The sufi practices are good for the heart as they cleanses it. And these sufi practices are also cures to many diseases of the heart. like ego or arrogance etc. 6. Therefore the sufi practices which do not directly violate anything in the religion nor do any addition to the existing rituals is mubah(better to do)
