Project Magnus (The Magnus Project) Simply because it reminds me of MK Ultra and project Stargate And cause "Project" helps symbolize the fact it's a fan au (an immaculate one at that)

OOOOOOGH that was so. that was so shaaaaaped.... the transition from her hand stretched out in the field to her fingers dragging blood across the wall was SO COOL, and the repetition of the swing scene hit like a truck!!!

It's the final thing! It's so good! I love to imagine that being in contact with Jon and Martin made what Alice is, that they somehow instigated it without truly being there or only visible to Alice While the researchers hoped to make profit of whatever Alice is capable of, she's much more powerful than they had expected ❤ I really get the feeling that Jon and Martin are telling her "You're one of us, you don't belong here" the whole time - which kinda rings some bells in the back of my head but I don't quite remember what 🤔

this is making the parasites in my head commence their annual brain rot office party (i’m biting my phone this magnus project!alice AU is Delicious)

…okay I know I already commented twice but I HAVE ANALYSIS THOUGHTS I know you recycled your tmagp designs and this isn’t supposed to be a Magnus au or anything but I’m just gonna use their names bc it’s easier I love that JMart’s haunting of baby Alice kind of grew- like initially they were just looming figures staring, watching her, but Alice’s perception of them evolved (or was she just able to see them more clearly?) and they became supportive, even protective figures. I wonder how much of that was actually them changing and treating her more kindly and how much of that was Alice’s wishful thinking- OR maybe she’s powerful enough to legitimately alter reality to make JMart act that way and she didn’t even realize it. Like, she clearly wants them to care for her and treat her like their daughter (Her little daydream of them in a meadow stoppp 😭😭😭). It makes sense that Alice reached out to Jon and Martin after Sam distanced himself from her, but it’s so cruel that she’s seeking comfort from the things whose presence in her life made her an outsider in the first place. Like, dang. It’s giving me Lonely!Martin Sleeping Powder vibes and I love it I was kind of waffling on whether or not Jon and Martin were actually there at first, but by the end I’m sure that they are. After Alice’s escape attempt, when she’s on the ground, two shadows appear by her head she looks up and sees JMart. JMart have shadows?? UPON REWATCHING I SEE NOW THERE’S A SNEAKER TOO. So either Alice’s mind is superimposing Jon and Martin’s images on two random people who are actually physically present and that was their shoe, OR they are there, they’re just in a place only Alice can see them. It’s gotta be the latter because we see her walk out of her hospital room alone in one shot and then JMart’s there in another shot, each with a hand on her shoulder. Alice walking barefoot through the pools of blood and leaving bloody footprints behind her was great imagery. And she went to the swing set first thing after freeing herself 😭 AND THEN SAM WAS THERE. God, the parallels between their first and last meetings are deliciously heart-wrenching. Alice sits alone on the same exact swing as before. Sam, cheery smile on his face, extending a hand of friendship to Alice… Sam, panic and fear on his face, shakily leveling a gun at Alice. Why is he the one there, threatening her? Is everyone else dead?? (WHY DO YOU HAVE A GUN SAM YOU’RE A CHILD) Anyway, I’m so glad she leaves him alive, but wow that full-body flinch as she walks by him hurts. He was fully expecting her to kill him 😭😭😭😭😭 Aaaaa I just want her to be HAPPY. Maybe Alice can use her newly awakened god powers to physically manifest Jon and Martin into the world so they can take care of her and they can be a happy family. That’s what I’m gonna envision happens 😭 Your visual storytelling is as beautiful as ever; I love how you dropped little hints about things and relied on the viewer to catch them and interpret their meaning. All in all this is a gorgeous and thought-provoking piece of art and I will be turning it over and over in my brain for a while.

Aahh thanks for the analysis! Regarding the swing, it's on purpose that there are always two empty seats beside her. I actually meant for Jon and Martin to be sitting there in the last scene but I changed my mind so now it's just there to emphasize how alone she is and that gap being filled by jmart when they eventually stand by her side at the end. As for why Sam had a gun, there was an earlier version of the scene where near the exit, one of the lead scientists tries to stop her with a gun but she ends up strangling him and that's how Sam gets the gun. But that role would have fit a main antagonist and I didn't really establish one in the video (also, I didn't want to draw that whole scene or introduce another character) I also purposely did some repetition with Alice's open hand. In the first scene, she was holding it up outside the car window feeling the wind, then the scene of her feeling the grass, then her smearing blood on the wall, then her balling it to a fist to kill everyone.

@@bogslut oooh I love that with the swing! So in a way it was almost like she was always missing them… interesting. Despite the horrors that Alice just experienced, it’s sweet that those empty places at her side are finally filled by the end. Ahh gotcha. That makes sense. Thanks for sharing that extra info! I totally see why you didn’t go for the “strangling the lead scientist” thing; this final finished video must have been an unbelievable amount of work. I’m sure it could have been cool, but I like the story you told with this version! The threat against Alice feels large and shadowy as opposed to one Big Bad scientist and his lackeys.

I thought this was about an OC kid with schizophrenia (that also connected to an awakening of powers) and the awful way they were experimented on instead of being cared for but now apparently I need to watch Elfen Lied and Akira lol. Awesome work! Jaw dropped. The "sometimes I think I'm moving past the feeling" lyric really hit hard and made me believe this was about mental health cause then it turned out no progress was being made at all in the following images.

I've rewatched this a bunch now and it's geniunely your best work so far. the blood splatters made me go frame by frame and that's ignoring ALL the other well placed symbolism, like the boys haunting her and how much she wants them when she really just wants to be happy, what sam represents as their relationship changes and their final confrontation, and so much more. this is my favorite version of the eleven-esque "kid abused by some research facility bc of their (insert op ability here)" and more importantly, i love reading this as a metaphor for emotional repression from expections and the deep ennui and depression the need for an escape creates. and yeah, you usually do "explode" somehow in my experience, so the metaphor always hits. anyways love ur alice sm, keep up the good work! still my fav tma artist and one of my favs in gen :D

It's an original idea. I didn't want to design entirely new characters for a one-off thing though so I just recycled my own designs for the magnus protocol

Ngl I totally have an extra scene in my head from Sam's pov with his head down and when Martin steps in front of him, he doesn't see a pair of sneakers but just... Incomprehensible Eldritch matter. And that's enough to keep his head down.
