If you are fond of the British blues scene there are a couple of fantastic compilation albums realised in the early 80s called The Great British Blues , Barrelhouse and Boogie Bonanza (1962-1968) which has a lot of Cyril Davies, Graham Bond and Alexis Koner tracks I got the first two volumes when they came out and found so much that I loved. The most surprising thing is a very young Elton John who is sublime and caused me to forgive his later material

Great stuff ! As far as some of the newer blues artists go, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Lang, Robert Randolph, Gary Clark Jr., are all fantastic. I’ve seen them all and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

awesome lesson adrian. This is a really fun song to play and a great intermediate to advanced blues song to learn. The trickiest part of this song is definately the turnaround it seems easy but to get it in time and cleanly is actually pretty difficult.

Thanks Adrian for tackling what I think is probably the best Freddie King instrumental piece (and that's saying something)! BTW, Sonny Thompson was the piano player in Freddie King's band and also R&B and gospel singer Lula Reed's husband. A rather obscure figure, even if he was a bandleader and songwriter in his own right.

It was the neck PU. The magnet was put in the wrong way, so the 2 PU´s are out of phase. It only affects the middle position, and you need to wind down one of the volume controls to get a fuller, but still out of phase sound.

You could try Gary Clarke Jr. and Eric Gales for a modern take on blues. Gales plays his guitar left-handed and upside down; he doesn't reverse the string order either, so it's completely upside down.
