I get goosebumps every time I hear Mario Lanza's voice. So unique. Love Sigmund Romberg's music.

I love Romberg's music as well, when I started playing organ I played quite a lot of his music, I still play it though much more in depth now than I was when first learning in the 1970's.

I was born August 16, 1938, so I believe that binds me in some way to Ms. Blyth? As a young teenager I was deeply in love with her. Being a nobody, that is easy to say. I don't know if I saw every one of her movies, but I tried! I am really a happy guy to know that she is still with us. She is in southern CA and I am in Roswell, hoping ET will come and get me?

Edmund Purdom was an underappreciated actor. He was great. I liked him in The Egyptian and pretty much all of his work, but The Student Prince was his best movie. And Ann Blyth, what can I say?

Que mal me siento, viendo a Purdom , no es su responsabilidad o culpa , pero lo único verdaderamente valioso es la magnifica e insuperable voz del gran LANZA.

When this movie was first release Edmund Purdom got a lot good reviews for his miming job, but, somehow modern critics don't seem to see it that way. I think he was excellent, and if he was, as many have said, a bit wooden at times, it worked in his favour in this movie as he was portraying a stiff military type.

though i thought it was an awful film i do think he was really good and he was good at miming it as well i've seen far far worse. ever see The beastie Boys: Fight for your Right video? they are really bad in it and it shows

I love this movie. I think that he did a great job miming Mario Lanza's singing. The character was supposed to be wooden, so what is the criticism about?

Peccato!

Unless I'm mistaken, Betta St John doesn't appear in this trailer. Now, I know, that they've only got 4 min to 2tell the story" ( sort of ) but I would have included a shot of Betta walking down that staircase.

A remake please. I saw it first in 1983 when i was 10 years old. I cried when the Prince left to go marry another lady. I didn't understand why then, but i know better. Different class

It wasn't really class but an obligation the prince had to the throne which meant he wasn't free to follow his heart. In 1937 King Edward of Britain had the same choice but he followed his heart and married Mrs Simpson. A lot of people thought it a bad decision on his part especially as the country looked like it was to have a war on it's hands and really needed strong leadership in government.

I know why Mario Lanza did not star opposite Ann Blyth in this God awful movie. He had begun rehearsals, but was dropped because the director thought he sang one of the songs with too much passion. Lanza never recovered from being fired and it destroyed his life. It was an insult to him that his voice was used and not himself. Edmund Purdom gave a wooden, awful performance.

The trouble with the 1927 version is that, as a silent film, it lacks all of the vocal numbers.
