It's kind of two improved clinches tied in opposite directions, hence "Jam knot." Kinda like making a jam nut on a piece of all thread.

This knot became known as the San Diego jam knot amongst tuna fishermen over 100 years ago in about 1900. The huge migrant population following the gold rush led to a need for food resources, which led to a huge fishing industry on the coasts of the Pacific Ocean. Those migrant fishermen found that albacore tuna were abundant and quite tasty. They developed this knot to catch up to 90lb tuna reliably. It's absolutely earned it's name as the San Diego jam knot. A more modern name for it is reverse clinch knot, which is probably what you know it as if you're not from the West Coast. Acting all high and mighty just because you used the knot years ago and called it something different is just silly. The name isn't new. It's as old as the knot is. At least as far as fishing applications go. Idk how old you are, but it's never too late to learn some history. Tight lines, brother 🎣

Bro that’s an improved clinch knot😭😭😂😂😂😂

Wrong. The strongest knots are ones run thru the lure twice.

Not if the line is snapping above the knot first
Actually there documentation of a stronger knot. Called the Fish fool knot. Search // This knot is 28.3 % Better then a Palomar. Compared with 9 other knots.
