    In tests the Trilene is the best knot and here is why. Everyone is too hyper focused on "what the strongest knot" Thats important, but if a knot is not #1 in reliability, that changes everything. The Trilene 7 out of 7 tests never failed. Its the most reliable, where the palomar and the san diego jam may have a ever so slight edge in the pull rate, none of them had 100% reliability like the Trilene. Under a microscope the line cuts the least under the Trilene out of all the knots out there. Even the famous San Diego Jam, failed 4 out of 7 times, but got on average the highest pull rate. But who cares, if its not reliable. If u want the King of knots, where u get the best of both worlds and Berkley data supports it. Trilene is King

    Hmmmmmm... I think there are knots that mono, poly, or braid do well with. I think knots using monofilament should not be too bulky...and, if I'm not mistaken, some fishing lines slip against itself, so clinch knots are a must....i don't think a brand of fishing lines is any better than the others though....

    Ok guys, this knot is the re-done (double Trilene knot) formerly known as the Trilene knot... This knot has two 2 times wrap around the eye of the hook and it used to have one but when the double was introduced it has us go through the eye twice instead of the formerly one time leaving one instead of the improved two and also make sure you guys and gals are getting the line wet before cinching down because friction will make your knot less effective and the line becomes weak and could fray leaving that trophy fish to swim another day..... Don't forget, ( catch and release ) or take your catch home and eat it with your loved ones......, Love you Dad and we both use that knot most often and have for many many years....... See you all out there Derek from Portland, Oregon

    Derek, I'm also from Portland and have used the trilene for over 2 decades! I first saw it from my dad shannon, but being a slower learner back then, i couldnt get it from just being shown. Eventually we bought some new hooks (cause imagine imagine we didn't need to very often 😉) and on the hooks paper backing, was the step by step for the trilene. I practiced for DAYS at around 6 so as to MASTER the knot. I've used it 21 years since for everything! This is how you make SURE your hook ain't gonna fly off if you're a dummy catching a steelie or worse a salmon, with a trout rod

  • @Happy_2CU

    @Happy_2CU

    7 ай бұрын

    @cjcoleman3893 Are you sure you know how to fish? STORY TIME. My dad was the oldest of 7 children. His dad was a raging alcoholic and my dad had to feed his entire family. He also had to drive his dad home from the bar starting at 8 years old, he had to stack books to see out the windshield. During this time he worked as a "tree topper" from 8-14. Logging companies used kids because they were lightweight, fast climbers, unafraid of heights, and nimble getting to the top. At 14, the cutting crew started cutting a tree with him still topping it, which caused him to almost lose his leg and life. He spent months recovering, but he still had to feed his family. He went and joined a fishing boat crew. They used mostly nets, but if he wanted to take fish home, he would have to catch them. He used this knot so he could check the line 2 times a day because he couldn't check it unless he was on lunch or going home. So he used this knot because he couldn't lose his family's dinner. Fast forward to him being drafted into the Navy. He went out and retrieved bombs that didn't explode (dare anyone to do that, scares the shit out of me, so...). While the engineers maneuvered the ship into position so he could snag the bomb, he fished. Then the cooks would add it to the food they had, the fish were the only fresh food that they had. Honestly, I am not sure what knot he started fishing with, but this is the knot he uses and taught me. I was almost born at his favorite fishing spot, which was the same spot my daughter met her husband. Dad is 80 now and still works, fishes with this knot, and hunts. He didn't really know what knot you were referring to, but this is dad's "fishy fishy" knot.

Lucky for me I had my trustee fishing pole. Used this exact knot to pull them out on my bicycle with 8lb fishing line. Strongest knot PERIOD

    It's rare but bass fishing for 20 years I have seen my fair share of knots slipping. like a simple uni knot. Also have to know what to look for if it was a break or a slip. my go to is usually a Palomar knot because it won't slip.. especially with braided line. And especially with heavy line like 50lb+ braided. Not trying to say your wrong just saying it do happen sometimes.

    @@forreelzfishinguh, hold on. Is that only when talking about a knot to hook, or line to line? A knot is never 100% of the line strength, as far as i know. So unless you have an abrasion or heat stretch, the knot should almost always break before the line. If I am wrong, I need to know this. Very important when fishing with sub 4# tippet.

    @@forreelzfishing Uni, Palomar, Improved Clinch. All of those have “double” versions too that are supposedly even better. I used the clinch as a boy 90% of the time and pretty much up until I was around 50 years old. Last 10 years the uni is my fav and the occasional palomar. Never lost anything due to a failed knot all the way up to 51” leopard sharks, 39” California halibut, 42” sturgeon and numerous 30-50lb bat rays. More often I catch smaller barred surf perch and striped bass though. For mono line to braid line I like the Alberto knot (yes, yes the FG is “better” but the Alberto much easier to tie especially out on the water. Cinched down properly with line tightening sticks the Alberto has never failed me yet).
