The Brazilian dub of Street Fighter V is also something of legend, it was a project where the people involved weren't taking it all that seriously and added in a bunch of jokes that weren't there as well as add in a bunch of mannerisms to the characters, with Ken's "Ih ó o cara aí", something like "heh get a load of this guy" becoming a popular idiomatic expression in the entire country to this day.

Balrog is likely a ring name, given that the Spanish matador is an underground cage fighter. It's no stretch of imagination that the Japanese writers of Street Fighter would know about Tolkien considering they've made a lot of Dungeons and Dragons references, LotR wouldn't be too far off from their radar. Vega is an astronomical name, which during this era was typically used to sound cool in Japan, I mean just look at Fist of the North Star and Saint Seiya where a lot of things were Astronomy-themed. Gouki is probably a reference to the mythical demon duo Zenki and Gouki, also his name means "Strong Demon" while Akuma is a very generic term, and could apply to a little imp.

"Akuma" means "Devil" in Japanese, pretty straight forward. In lieu of Japanese mythology, there is an understanding of hell from Buddhism "jigoku". "Akuma" as such though has various interpretations depending on if you look at Japanese folk lore, Buddhism or Japanese Christianity. But at large is a demonic entity, hell bent on death and destruction and an antagonist in general. Only in Japanese Christianity does he equal to the lord of hell, "Satan".

Those second impact lines were probably makotos lines; makoto actually was a character intended to appear In Second impact but was cut due to time constraints with her animation (and is why she has such elaborate animations on her).

A shirt with the Street Fighter logo on it is style. A shirt with Street Fighter Alf on it is CLASS.

I'm gonna rock it at Evo Japan 2023

Ive always liked "Ryu Hoshi", because it means STAR, and he's arguably the 'star' of the game (inasmuch as you can be that in a fighting game. the box guy, perhaps?).

I love your work It's really good when you compare it to other content creators My only criticism: DONT SAY "SPOILER ALERT" AFTER SAYING THE SPOILER XD

I also wanna say about the guest appearances. I don't know if it counts but they did an event with summoner war adding ken ryu dhalsim Chun and dictator into the game

Can you add chapters to the video so it is easier to find what's new? I'm not sure how much it would help if you actually recorded a lot of completely new lines later on, but it can break down the Level sections at least.

My take on Q theory is that he's G from the future.Think about it, if you compare both G and Q moves, it's almost similar. But the biggest clue is that G has a alternate costume that looks alot like Q. That's my take on Q theory.

The original, more realistic artstyle for street fighter five was made by a different company hired by capcom to make the game. Kinda like dimps made sf4. It was the same company, that was behind the cinematics in and around street fighter x tekken. Apparently it was referred internally as jank fighter, and was discontinued. The company is called Polygon Pictures and it's known for cinematics and marketing stuff I think.

Kinda late, but I'd like to let it know that many, although not all, Street Fighter manhuas had been translated and published in Italy too, back in the days. They are most obscure, but not even too hard to find even to this day, since there was this odd trend of importing lots of manhuas in the 90's, most of which never had any sort of official english translation.

A note about Makoto as Ryu‘a sister…Gouken has a daughter in the official lore (and has since SF1). Capcom has tried bringing her back twice so far. The first time ended up evolving into Sakura, the second Makoto. You can see traces of this in her backstory with her father being a big-time dojo master. Originally she was going to be seeking Ryu out to bring him back to watching the dojo, scolding him for traveling all the time and neglecting his duties to the dojo’s upkeep. It would have been interesting but Capcom changed it in the development process. It would be interesting to see if Capcom ever really brings Gouken’s daughter back, perhaps it could be Fuka from the Generations anime (as she was never given a proper name as of yet)?

I know what you could add onto the iceberg. In Osama Bin Laden’s hard drives, there can be found many conspiracies - especially 9/11. But on other hard drives, there is a Street Fighter 4 anime in an Arabic sub, along with Monsters Vs Aliens, Tom and Jerry, and a random illusion, all in an Arabic sub as well.

I remember seeing alpha 2 for snes at the rental store as a kid and even then I knew how odd it was since I had a ps1. I rented it and was impressed they even tried porting it.

About the brazilian comics and TTRPG: - As far as I'm concerned, Escala had indeed the rights to continue publishing comics even after Malibu discontinued the production, hence the original scripts. It lasted from 1994 to 1996 and had a total of 20 issues. - Trama SFZ3 comics were also licensed and were very good! - Trama licensed the rights to many Capcom IPs back then, so they released their own version of the Street Fighter Storytelling game. It was divided into 3 magazines and sold in paper shops (newsagent stands)! Paper shops were very common in Brazil and many people bought comics there (specialized comic book stores were rare). - Also, the publisher didn't like the art of the original Storytelling game, so they changed it with other Capcom licensed illustrations. - The storytelling game had some licensing problems... but not from Capcom! They had issues with Devir, who published official White Wolf material in Brazil back then. They settled it out-of-cort. - Trama also published their own game based on Street Fighter Zero 3 named 3D&T based on a TTRPG system created originally as a parody of japanese Tokusatsu series, very popular in Brazil back then. With SFZ3, they built a better and more generic TTRPG System, that became very popular afterwards. To this day, the 3D&T line of products is named after Street Fighter games (with 3D&T Turbo, 3D&T Alpha and the upcoming 3D&T Victory).

I got that VHS tape in the mail when I was a kid. The tape was purple and on the label was E. Honda fighting Sagat. And yes, the kid that was in it looked and sound like the 90s threw him up

There was also another guest appearance in kofw. Don't know what Year it was made but my dad had a demo on his PC and he had all the special moves.

I’m honestly surprised there’s nothing about Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD here, I know it’s not a secret or anything I just wanted to see something about my favorite childhood game lol

Despite the fact that Street Fighter is the first one to give proper evolution to fighting games genre, i love more Mortal Kombat. But despite that, Street Fighter is my second best fighting game. I played all of the Street Fighter games, except few like Street Fighter Mouse Generation and Street Fighter 5. I saw some of the cartoons, saw almost all of the movies and stuff. So yeah, i like Street Fighter series, that is why i put it in the second place of my favorite fighting game.

Guile is based off Iceman from Top Gun. Thats why he has the mohawk and is from the Air Force. Guiles theme song was originally Kens theme. The start of the song is a complete copy from Top Gun end titles song of Cheap Trick. They swapped stage themes because of copyright, just like M.Bison style.

This is incorrect. In an interview with Street Fighter II producer Noritaka Funamizu, Guile was originally based off of Polnareff from JoJo. One of the developers stretched out his hair at the top as a joke, so they decided to make him look like Stroheim, another character from JoJo.

There's 2 entries which i haven't seen in any SF Iceberg ever: First, the main song for SF X Tekken is sing by a gay porn star. Second, Overpass stage lyrics talking about abandoned kids in SF IV: "i will be back for you, and it won't be long, i will be back for you". I've read something about SF x Tekken Sagat inspiring Fahkumram from Tekken 7 but haven't really searched about it too.

You know in Smash Bros, there are Type A versions of Dee Jay, Cammy, T Hawk and Fei Long. There’s no remix mark and its origin is at Street Fighter 2 by Capcom. Is it true that those four characters were planned to be in Street Fighter II?

All four of those character's first appearance was in Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers edition.

Rufus and Abel's original designs are far superior to the final ones. Abel went from having so much potential to becoming the most generic, plain, white bread character in Street Fighter history. As for Rufus... I don't think I have to say anymore.

I think Jamie was the original Rufus design salvaged. And the new thawk in 6 might have some design from original Abel. As long as Abel and Rufus don't appear in sf6 we're golden

Regarding Street Fighter, you actually hit the buttons with your fist. They were far too hard to just "press" and were meant to simulate actually hitting something, and the harder you hit it, the harder your character hit in the game.

Seth in Street Fighter 5 & Seth in Street Fighter 4 are essentially different versions of the same character given a sex change. Seth went from the masculine android with the Yin/Yang symbol in their abdomen used as the end boss of Street Fighter 4 due to M. Bison's apparent death to the feminine version with long hair seen in Street Fighter 5. So, calling Seth by male pronouns in Street Fighter 5 when the character, for all intents & purposes, IS now female would only apply IF Seth was actually transgender like Poison apparently is (according to Capcom, "Poison tucks her business away to appear female" & apparently uses female pronouns, whereas in America, the controversy surrounding Poison caused the character to be swapped out for Billy and Sid on the original home console ports of Final Fight), but the blatant changes done to Seth from Street Fighter 4 to Street Fighter 5 basically confirms that Seth had a sex change (not that the android actually had a visible penis in its original incarnation, mind you, however the fact that the character now has a female body complete with noticeable bust & long hair clearly suggests a gender swap was done after Street Fighter 4 but ahead of the release of Street Fighter 5). The female Seth seen in Street Fighter 5 actually ended up being much more likeable than the masculine version from Street Fighter 4, so it'll probably be the version of Seth we see going forward, unless Capcom decides to have both female & male versions playable (or even interchangeable) sometime down the line, which is certainly a possibility.
