Lyrics:
I’m collecting all these feelings for you
Put them in a box in a darkened room
And seal the lid with an industry standard glue
Make the box into a silent tomb
With all these photographs and pictures of you
Taken in a car and someone else’s front room
This song will get me over you
Lift me up and take me out of view
This song that says that she’ll hurt you once or twice
But she’ll never be with you the way you want her to
This song will get me over you
Take the box into uncharted seas
Far away from all humanity
And swear the crew to absolute secrecy
Sink the box down to the ocean floor
For maybe 20,000 leagues or more
And ban deep sea diving by an act of law
This song will get me over you
Lift me up and take me out of view
This song that says that she’ll hurt you once or twice
But she’ll never be with you the way you want her to
This song will get me over you
Ill trust in Davy Jones’ locker
Far from any grave robber
To steal away all the memories of you
And all the people they may wonder
That I no longer seem to bother
And I appear to be completely over you
This song will get me over you
Lift me up and take me out of view
This song that says that she’ll hurt you once or twice
But she’ll never be with you the way you want her to
This song will get me over you
Lift me up and take me out of view
This song that says that she’ll hurt you once or twice
But she’ll never be with you the way you want her to
This song will get me over you
This song will get me over you
This song will get me over you
This song will get me over you
If that’s what I really wanna do

I met Stuart Pearce in a Pub in Stapleford about 20 years ago.... We had a chat about our mutual love of the Stranglers, then I was at Rock City watching them in Notts and he came up to me and remembered our conversation... Absolutely top bloke, he is perfect in this video. Brilliant. x

I'm about a mile away from Stapleford. Spent many a formative evening in the pubs on Derby Rd in the early 90's. H+J was always a good pub. Pavillion wasn't too bad for the "New' Pub and the Chequers was handy if you were waiting for a bus to go into Nottingham (if you were really lucky and they knew you, you could get them to serve you out of the window at the bus stop) memorable night in Stabbo when England lost to Germany in 1990.....didn't stop long as it all kicked off after the final whistle.

I remember seeing stranglers live in Edinburgh playhouse, big in America tour and I was hooked, played with a band called Mal Deutschland, totally mesmerising with greenfield s carnival like doors 60s keyboard sound and John jacques burnells pounding bass lines and Bruce lee Kung fu kicks, and even jet black keeping the drum beat within it and Cornwall s gruff yet melodic voice-4 musicians playing off each other and the sound was phenomenal

so happy to find this Friday morning 3.9.21 . I try and imagine how much fun this guy had staring in this video. Done so ' tongue-in-cheek' , with such class, swagger and poise. I watched it over and over . I got it on pause , just to be able to enjoy all the great comments from all the real Stanley's fans . I appreciate them all. I thought it was Vinny Jones . until I read the comments . Then I had to Google Pearse. I not a football fan . But I am a massive music fan . The video , the video is just great . A marvellous mini movie . If I see Dave , I will say more than hello . I love the way this is edited. I am young again . I not the 57 year old bloke who talks of the old Stranglers concerts I enjoyed as a angst ridden youth . Time well spent. Today is a happy day . " with phsco scoring....." Must have been so good to be part of the 🎬 for Stuart Pearse. thank the commenters for telling us . cos I would not have known. I ain't the sharpest, but I recognise brilliance, .
