The Stranglers - No more heroes
Whatever happened to Leon Trotsky?
He got an ice pick
That made his ears burn
Whatever happened to dear old Lenny?
The great Elmyra, and Sancho Panza?
Whatever happened to the heroes?
Whatever happened to the heroes?
Whatever happened to all the heroes?
All the Shakespearoes?
They watched their Rome burn
Whatever happened to the heroes?
Whatever happened to the heroes?
No more heroes any more
No more heroes any more
Whatever happened to all the heroes?
All the Shakespearoes?
They watched their Rome burn
Whatever happened to the heroes?
Whatever happened to the heroes?
No more heroes any more
No more heroes any more

That bass playing by JJ is magnificent. This is live music at it's rawest and it's finest
RIP Jet Black
Here's to their legendary keyboardist, Dave Greenfield. Thanks for the music. RIP
Jet Black puffing away here, an old man of 39.
Goodness me they all look young there.
Hly fck! This is one of the best pieces of music and messages ever. Perfect
RIP David P. Greenfield
And Sancho Panza…..kudos to whichever genius wrote that line.
I was 14 years old when The Stranglers started their careers and I thought that they were the greatest band in the history of the universe!
RIP Jet
I rememeber listening to this gig as it was broadcast on BBC Radio 1. Fine times 🙂🇬🇧

I saw them live in 1980 and they were sold out, brilliant night and memories.
ANOTHER DEAD PUNK ROCK HERO !R.I.P DAVE !😢😢😢😢
Best punk band ever. Unlike the pistols they actually had talent and no Malcolm McLaren cunty PR marketing. Just great songs. Long live the Stranglers!

All musicians are chosen for you. That’s the truth. Musical Truth vol. 1-3. Weird Scenes Inside Laurel Canyon. Read these books. Nothing is by accident. All used to change and manipulate society. 1950 no one got divorced. Now everyone does. How do you get to that point?! That’s just one example. As you were.
Takes me back to my youth got see them in swinging apple Liverpool some old wear house 😊
Fierce
Great garage version

The real men in black !!
Thank god -or whoever- heroes are gone !
Whatever Happened to ; THE STRANGLERS? They just fell out, never made up, and now ; One is retired, another is Dead (RIP Dave Greenfield) One of the most amazing bands to ever come out of the British 'PUNK ROCK' Revolution, from 1976 ! First three LP's were amazing, then a slight change in direction, but still GREAT! (The Raven) They lost a lot of years by recruiting the wrong (two) replacements for Lead singer/songwriter Hugh Cornwell. Paul Roberts as good as an artist as he is, was NEVER EVER the right choice for a frontman of this band?????WTF?????? AND ; John Ellis, God I love his work with 'The Vibrators' (another amazing band from the time) but no way were those two ever the correct replacements for Hugh Cornwell! (Who could be??) Baz Warne has done a great job of bringing the band back to where they were , God Bless him! I always go to the gigs out of loyalty .and to Hugh's solo outings, (I hate his solo work) but still buy his LP's out of loyalty! Hugh still plays a lot of Stranglers early stuff live (why wouldn't he???) Time and Tide waits for no man ! dx
Thanks, Mate Mate.
for ever suoer

Wow, this was uploaded on 11/11/11....how in the hell is it that I am 48 years old and TODAY is the first time I have ever heard of the Stranglers? I was listening to Mark Devlin and he mentioned this song so I immediately looked these guys up. Can't believe I never heard of them - clearly these guys received ZERO PROMOTION in the USA - typical!

they were punk as much as anybody - the point being that when pub rock (ian dury / stranglers / eddie and the hot rods etc) became punk rock - it was obviously post sex pistols circa spring 1976 - the point is they didn`t have to play like beethoven - they just needed to turn the amps right up
