The first four Stranglers albums are amazing. They literally invented a sound and a sensibility, knocked it out of the park, and nobody has ever been able to replicate it.

What I loved about this band was the growling vocals, heavy bass and keyboards that made the band sound something like a punk rock version of The Doors. They were an incrediblely talented act.

I dont feel 'underrated' exactly .... I think if they had split in late70s to mid 80s they would receive more plaudits ( like the Clash ,Pistols , the Jam & others). As with the Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Damned & others, extending their career has for many detracted from how good their earlier records were..

That's punk, treble turned up to max on the bass. Reggae's the opposite, no treble on the bass. Love the AUTHORITY he comes in with, a working man's Tony Levin. I play bass, takes a lot of balls to come in playing it like a lead guitar, exactly like he does on this track. Fn cool.

We were at the Bondi Lifesaver one night, and we were smoking a joint , right up at the stage, and Jean Jacques Burnell did a massive leap to the front of the stage where we were , and wanted a toke . Of course we held it for him while he had a couple of tokes...never missing a beat . I fell in love with him that night !! Saw them after the gig too...great bunch of fellas. My boyfriend and I were listening to the Stranglers' greatest hits CD while we moved into our first apartment together. I remember loading my mattress into his car and hauling it from my mom's house to our new place listening to this with the windows down. It was 2008 and we were 19. There's a lyric in there that sounds like "Christ he's older than Obama" and I would sing it that way, he would laugh. He passed away in 2011 and i miss him all the time. I haven't remembered that in a long time and it made me smile. Thanks for uploading it.

@@Kodaemon that's the good thing about bands like Ghost doing really good covers of older bands, it helps to widen people's taste in music with bands they might never of heard. This only works if they do a good job of remaking it. So we'll done to Ghost for keeping knocking it out the park.👌🤟

@@thomasmuir9751 it also gives them some good pay too. Most of these 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wave punk bands have inspired generations of future artists without truly having any kind of financial success. it's great to see successful bands like Ghost pay it forward to the guys that they grew up listening to. It can be life changing for them.

1st band I saw live & it was the first time I felt the bass go right through me. Not just that. There top-top fellas too. Down to earth & really generous with their time for the less fortunate in our society. What bass & keyboard's!!!! RIP Legend, bless you all with good health. 😍🤩🤗 They'll never know what & how good of times they were. Well and truly dancing our balls off before the MD came along. Keep safe everyone!
