The Stranglers - Golden Brown (TOTP 1982)

The Stranglers - Golden Brown (Top Of The Pops 1982)
Redub, TOTP track edit.
All ad revenue from the videos are claimed by record labels and the like. Supporting financial contributions would be greatly appreciated at ko-fi.com/soft.... Cheers.
I have the official promo video of this track which was shown on the 1982 TOTP repeat. I added missing footage at the start and end for completion however when the video was uploaded it became blocked worldwide. So if you're wondering why you can't see the official 'Golden Brown' video on KZread, there's your answer.

I think it certainly has a “Baroque” feel , almost like a piece by J.S. Bach. Baroque pop is an actual genre of music.

Close but this track could have been used for the Movie Trainspotting because it's about the same illegal substance, apparently today's generations have either never known about the link or people have forgotten about it. 😂

There are so many songs from the 80’s that would be in peoples top 10 but this is my favourite from the decade

Never getting tired listening to Golden Brown. I don´t remember when I heard it the first time, but I´m sure it must have been around 82-83, and can´t figure out according to what. Maybe it´s more like... I first heard it much later, after 2000+. If that´s the case, it just reminds me of how bloody good this track is, because it keeps reminding me of the days back then, early 80s around 82-83, a nice time to think of. But still it´s amazing if I didn´t listen to the song some 40yrs ago, how can it remind me of situations from that time.. I love it, always will. I really have only one more song that I never get tired of, also from that decade. Careless Whisper / George Michael. However that song reminds me of some specific things, which Golden Brown doesn´t. Both songs makes me happy and sad at the same time. It´s the memories and the losses during time, that recalls those feelings. The sad ones. That´s what great music does to us..

The modern England of the post-Elizabethan era from the 17th Century onwards was built on expansion and hasn’t been able to learn to survive without it. Its culture is largely a product of that brief period of global economic dominance and one can’t survive without the other. Civilisations fall prey to the dynastic cycle and fail.

Back in the day I had heard "Skin Deep" on the radio and loved the unusual sound of that band. I bought the album "Aural Sculpture" and to this day is one of my favorite records. I also bought the Greatest Hits CD and this is how I discovered all their Hugh Cornwell era music. Sadly, Hugh left the band (a loss from which despite their longevity, they never really recovered), and Dave Greenfield died. Drummer Jet Black is too old to play anymore, and the only resining member in decent shape because nobody can beat him up is French born JJ who hates the English. Hugh' solo career has been less than mediocre, to be frank. It would have been great if they would have reformed. I would have flown to England to see them.

A friend copied No More Heroes on cassette. This is what we did years ago, swapping music. I became a big fan. Living in a rural area, we never had the opportunity to see alternative bands. Didn’t have the time or money to travel to big cities.
