The Strangest Foods Companies Have Ever Made

Ойын-сауық

Weird History Food is going to get you into the Strangest Food Marketing Campaigns. Commercials and ads are no longer enough in a world habituated to shift its attention in the first three seconds of watching videos. Pizza Hut and Domino's competed to get both the marketing and product placement. Domino's got the product placement because of their "30 minutes or less" gimmick. While Pizza Hut got the marketing gig, which is why Coming Out of Our Shells happened alongside a commercial featured on the film's original VHS release.

I love that Heart Attack Grill exists. They are not misleading or lying about their food. The fact is, the people who go there go there KNOWING the risks and not being fooled by marketing. Think of how many fats and hidden preservatives are in fast food salads. How about how much sodium is really in all those meat alternatives? A lot of people try to eat healthy but still struggle because of false advertising. The Heart Attack Grill SAYS they are unhealthy so the consequence is truly, fully on the consumer for their own consumption.

Colgate Dinners is actually a genius idea, first people eat the dinner, then they have to brush their teeth with Colgate Toothpaste. I'm neutral on Domino's Mind Ordering promotion, but I ADORE how they brought back the 80s logo and designs. I also see The Noid, and I'm hoping for a full video on the history of Domino's Pizza. Please mention the other Domino's Pizza mascots like Donny & Dottie Domino [there was actually a lawsuit over Donny: Ollie Vs Domino's Pizza Inc], and Bad Andy [who actually drove sales down!].

The problem is this video is so poorly fact-checked they didn't bother to see that it never existed - this listicle is just reading off articles from the Musuem of Failures almost verbatim without realising that the Musuem of Failures is a mix of real-world stories and satire. This one (the Colgate Frozen Dinner) is satire.

The Colgate dinners (lasagna package) are actually mockups and are not real. However, someone did do the digging work, and sometimes around 1960, there was an interview in a magazine with the CEO of Colgate, who wanted to enter the frozen or snack foods market as a way of testing out different revenue streams. They tried some snacks out in Milwaukee iirc, but it only lasted like 6 months.

I remember the nasty purple ketchup. Did not taste like ketchup, just sadness.

Pharrells' ten gallon Mountie hat that he shaped sitting on it was probably one of the goofiest looking pieces of cr@p a person ever put on their head without it actually being a piece of real shït.

Jennifer Aniston was an uncredited extra in Mac and me. Her real breakout role was Leprechaun.

Ok but the list is “craziest foods” made by companies so why is the Mac and me one in there? That’s not a food it was just product placement

What's with all the irrelevant video footage of the frozen Snapple fiasco? A video clip of a bus flying through the air is relevant? How about more footage of the actual event? I'm sure there was plenty of videos and photos taken you could have used. 😮
