He did something similar with Arachne’s story where she boasts over her skills and says she’s better or on par with Athena and paints her as the victim too. Basically your source is bias. If you’re going to give the Medusa tale, don’t give just one example that has other issues around it. One KZreadr already did the Ovid angle, didn’t look at the other sides, and was roasted for it. They’re opposites yet complimentary of each other. Both are god of the arts. Both are gods of civilization. Zeus, Poseidon and most of the others represent forces that keep the world spinning. Athena and Hephaestus (and to a lesser extent Hestia) represent things that give men purpose. A man may not be able to wrangle lighting or tame the sea, but he can control what goes on at his forge and his wife can control what goes on at her loom. Hephaestus was kind of a scape goat for pity toward people who were unlucky/handicapped in some way... either at birth or through some unfortunate circumstances. Essentially you couldn't say "oh woe is me i'm blind... surely i'm the most unfortunate soul ever" because Hephaestus exists and still became a crucial member of the Olympians despite his backstory/short comings. It kind of makes sense from a classical society perspective as the societies of those ages did not have the stability to always give handouts, and to the people... life was usually shorter, harsher, and more turbulent compared to our modern lives. So having a god that still contributes despite a handicap shows the societies values/expectations for those of similar circumstance. If you can't walk, swing a hammer... do what you can mentality.

There was a few paintings and whatnot describing Athena and Hephaestus getting married. I can see that idea getting pushed onto people and then people started sending death threats the same way OG comic book writers got only more Ancient Greek. So they changed it to where the Goddess of wisdom, war, and battle strategy is the real victim against the foolish Hephaestus.

And Gaia finished the job, so does it mean he has 2 mothers? What I am getting is, is he or is he not son of Hephaestus and Athena in wild mythological way, or is he just adopted and Gaia and Hephaestus are his actual parents

@@michasalamon8315 I'm not to familiar with this story so I only have what the video showed us to go off of. But aside from birthing him Gaia did not have any other hand in Erichthonius's life. Athena didn't birth him but she was at the root of why he was made and she oversaw his upbringing. So it depends on how you view it. Are your parents the people that birth you or the people the raised and loved you? Plenty of times in reality it isn't both.

Well, in some versions, Athena caused the madness of the girls because she put Erichthonius in the box to make him inmmortal (how that works is never specified in the mythos), and when the girls opened the box, they interrumpted the process, so Athena decided to punish them. In other versions, Athena put also a snake or a dragon inside the box to protect Erichthonius, and when they opened it, the snake/dragon killed her. Basically... in every version they did a Pandora

I would like to add up an hypothesis to this story. This is where hephaestus seed got touched to athena's thigh and scrape it off with wool, her skin cell scrapes it also and what it had led to fertilization and she throws it to the ground (gaia) to become a surrogate for that child. While athena remember where it fell, there is also another interpretation where athena commanded a snake to protect the child from others.
