The fact both Trip and Knuckles have been used by Eggman, are both some of the last members of their respective races, both have a link to the Chaos Emeralds (Knuckles with the Master Emerald and Trip with the Chaos Emeralds themselves), and both have pretty opposite personalities (Knuckles is hard headed while trip is shy) makes me think of them getting a big brother and little sister type relationship in the future.

I love Trip, she fills the deep hole of new Classic Characters extremely well. I find her to be a mix of Blaze’s backstory and purpose and Cream’s personality which is somehow not a bad mix despite them being polar opposites.

Due to the fact the Ancients built the Emerald Shrine at the very least means the Sunchasers picked up where the Echidnas left off. PS: I personally think it was Babylons vs Echidnas, given that in the Movies' universe Owls had the same symbols for their ancient passwords (one of the guys in charge even stated as much)

Actually it was because of Tikal’s father Pachacamac, whom basically lead the troops against other beings. The Nocturnus Clan did mention that they paid the price for their arrogance.

Trip is a character that is a welcome to the franchise but also she's a tragic character like Knuckles. She's manipulated and consistently treated like garbage by Fang.

Tbh I really hope that Amy and trip become recurring playable characters in the next classic games

2:40 Actually, I have a theory about this. At the end of Sonic Adventure 1, it's stated that Chaos only used the NEGATIVE energy of the Chaos Emeralds in order to transform into Perfect Chaos whereas Sonic used the POSITIVE energy to transform into Super Sonic. So considering the dark color palette as opposed to the bright one, I don't think it's too far detached to say that the dragon only used the negative energy to transform, ultimately being sealed by the usage of the positive energy. And if we consider that it's been sealed for a rather long time, I don't think it's entirely outside of the realm of possibilities that the negative power of the Chaos Emeralds simply recharged over that time

Metal Overlord as well in Heroes, or that's possibly what triggers the werehog transformation in Sonic after Eggman drained the energy of the emeralds. Also interesting considering Sonic 3's manual talks about a dragon, which for the longest time we assumed was Perfect Chaos, and how it was prophesized the dragon's egg would land on Angel Island, what had knuckles freaking out and why he teamed up with Eggman (even though it was just the death egg from 2). No spoilers please, just putting my own thoughts here... bad enough youtube spoiled me showing the video in my recommended, nothing against the creator just... of course that'd happen lol. I don't want to know anything more, I just noticed your comment and it was interesting, and the mere mention of dragons, triggered a bunch of gears turns in my head, from even the thumbnail.

If they ever redid the heroes formula, I could easily see trip as Team Rose's new power option instead of Big!

Great video! Yeah, Trip is such a great addition to the Sonic cast. Her world and lore is so deep and enriches Sonic Superstars overall.

Trip has become my #1 main in Superstars, easily outclassing Sonic (whom is normally my main).

A dragon in Sonic’s design is something I didn’t know was too cool

It’s kinda hard to follow what’s going on during the first play through but after watching this, I really appreciate what the team did. I already really liked Trip after realizing that she had a face under the mask and that she’s kind hearted like Sonic & his friends but this video makes me like her even more as a character

I like Trip. I think she's a great character and I think, aside from the gameplay, it's the characters that really make up the Sonic the Hedgehog series. That said, I'm starting to think the amount of characters is starting to become...inflated? Don't get me wrong, every character is well crafted and unique, but it's starting to feel like Dragon Ball where, aside from the main character's rival (Vegeta to Goku and Shadow to Sonic), it feels like the majority of characters outside of the most inner circle get one or two appearances before they're shelved for decades, and I'm worried Trip might end up the same way.

That would be something, considering that this character was introduced in spades (being canonically the first female character to achieve a Super Form), along with an interesting backstory. From the above mentioned, I’m thinking that Trip would become a breakout character.

I hope she and Sage become new mainstays. She's a great character, and her moment with Amy carrying her on her back was adorable.

The funny thing is that the scientific name for sungazer is Smaug Giganteus. Named after the dragon of the same name from the Hobbit. Its characteristic was that it was golden because it was covered with gold and jewels. Trip reveals his face in Golden Capital and his Super Form becomes precisely a golden Dragon

Only difference is that Shade was only not used again by Sega because of Ken Penders just because she was an Echinda that wasn't Knuckles. You saw how he reacted when he saw Knuckles' father in Movie Sonic 2. He acted like if a spoiled baby got his Knuckles toy broken. Trip isn't an Echidna so, Ken can't do shit. I have a feeling she'll appear again. More likely.

I won't really say Shade because Sega actually did want to use her for future games it just that Penders happened... Now, if we're talking about characters being neglected by Sega, then that definitely goes to Marine the Raccoon.

Trip 's the cutest, much like Tails and Amy ❤ Naoto Oshima deserves way more credit and respect.

My theory about the Dragon awakening is that somehow Eggman's reversing machine from Egg Fortress reversed the sealing of the Dragon causing it to awaken

Trip is a Fascinating New Character and Similar to Sage, I want to see more of the Sungazer, not to mention I think Sega and Sonic Team might bring her Back in the Modern Era similar to Fang and his Crew.

Wait, so trip is a dragon… I guess she's the Sega equivalent of Dulcy. Way past cool😎

Oh there is one other interesting detail about Trip, she shows up in Lagoon City Act 2 with a giant octopus. The octopus is blocking an alternate route but she will only let you through when playing as Amy, whereas if you’re playing any other character she’ll hide behind the octopus. Really hope she appears in more sonic media, cuz she’s an absolute superstar (pun intended)

I relate a lot to her as much as i do with Tails! Just imagine a solo Tails game in this time of year that features Cream, and Trip, wouldn't that just be absolutely great? characters who at one point doubted in their own capabilities but soon started to believe in themselves and go their own ways

I just want a Sonic game where we can have Amy, Rogue the Bat, Blaze the Cat, Sticks the Badger, Cream and Cheese, and Trip the Sun Gazer all in one game.

So they said "yeah dragons have been a thing since after sonic mania even though we haven't seen one until now"

I love Trip and relate to her so much and wish we had plushies and figures of her already, but given we just got a Sage plush and no figure announced yet, it'll be a long wait... :c

This is the most relatable character of the series imo. She’s so cute and cool!

Actually, everything hints that Trip's story takes place after the main story, especially with Eggrobo being the main antagonist like in S&K.

I haven't been this happy for a new character since Shadow. Also the Oroboros makes since with her spin dash and how she jumps.

Trip is pretty much Knuckles if he wasn't tough as nails.😂 But she's a wonderful addition. And we finally have more reptiles in the cast 🎉

You did an amazing job at explaining Trip, her background and the lore of Sonic Superstars! All in under 10 mins! This made me like Trip even more and her similarity to Knuckles being the last of her kind, like other people in the comments said, I hope she can make her way to the Modern side of Sonic.

Referring a sungazer as a dragon makes sense since their genus is the same name as the famous dragon Smaug and I’m very curious about that dark dragon I really want to know its story.

For the next classic sonic game I want there to be a new character like the new characters and I want there to be EVERY CLASSIC SONIC CHARACTER IN IT here’s all Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Mighty, Ray, Trip, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Rabbit (Feels). And the Enemy’s are obviously The Hooligans, Eggman, Metal Sonic Team, And that witch in tails adventure.

I adore Trip as a new Sonic core team member. I hope she doesn’t just disappear like the one brown crazy weasel with a boomerang.

Hopefully with an uniquer eye color than differing shades of orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Red is Shadow exclusive (unless counting Metal) and Kit even though it has a tinge of pink. Brown is still fresh in the series although it doesn't feel special enough. Like how awesome would a multi-colored eye with red and yellow? It would be nice because it would signify just how special she is as a Sungazer Lizard none the less🤩. And here I am talking crazy bout Sonic eyes😂

I just can’t get enough of the new character Trip the Sungazzer. I can’t wait for the sequel or the next adventure with Sonic, his friends and Trip.

Ok, I have to say it. Trip is so adorable.

I love how Trip is the closest thing we have to an anthropomorphic dragon character (her super form that is) in a Sonic game. I do hope to see this character again in the Modern setting. Researching the character, she’s in a same boat as Knuckles (both being the last of their kind). Seeing her Super Form makes me wish they should’ve implemented the Dragon Avatar in Forces, like they intended.

So she's basically the Tikal and again with saying she's the last one of her species, but at least we know this of Knuckles because he's the guardian of the Master Emerald and that could somehow give him some sort of long life span; he doesn't even remember how much time has passed since he was posted as guardian anyway. May grow on me, but at least she has more background than Sticks, and even more than Rouge herself.

One thing I’m curious about, fang actually DOES kinda get worried for her when she falls. I hate to think this, but… maybe redemption for Fang? I mean, I always liked that he’s not a bad guy so much as an “in it for myself” guy.

They really missed a trick by not having Trip take part in the final dragon fight.

So... She is both my favorite lizard of all time and she's a dragon, my favorite mythical creature of all time... I LOVE HER!!!

It's my first time hearing about her... and she seems like a quite interesting character to me. I definitely would like to learn more about her.

I love trip, she's my second favortie charcter, she has a very interesting and unique charcter and I hope we can see her in later games or shows and see her character develop

it's actually very interesting how Trip shares many parallels with Dulcy the Dragon from the SatAm cartoon and to a lesser extent, the Archie comics: - they're both shy and sweet - they both start out clumsy - they both have amazingly powerful destructive capabilities and can fly just about anywhere -they're both survivors of ancient lost civilizations and if you read a bit of the earlier Archie comics - they both fight an evil dragon, and suffer abuse from people who claim to care about them. sad to say that those Archie issues deal with an EXTREMELY uncomfortable topic that i feel went too far and doesn't belong in a Sonic story. there's even a G.U.N. task force involved, so everyone was made to look bad. anyway, it was really fun to find overlap between this new character, and an older obscure character! but what do you think Sonic Theory? or anyone else in the comments?

I am pretty interested in seeing where Trip's story goes from here. I will say that with the IDW comics being more closely tied to the games than the Archie comics were (they did their own thing, for better or worse), I would not be surprised if we get to learn even more about her from there. I know not everyone likes the IDW comics, but I have found the cast to be fun, and therefore think it could be a good way to learn more about her.

It almost seems that Trip is a counterpart to Knuckles. Knuckles is the last of his kind, who were a tribe of warriors tasked with protecting the master emerald. Trip is the last of her kind, who were a tribe of protectors who guarded the chaos emeralds. The main difference being is that the master emerald remained with the echidna's up to knuckles, where the chaos emeralds were lost before trip came around.

This music plus the Animation makes this look like Little nightmares

So, shes misunderstood and misguided. I like that she starts out as a villan but reforms. And ends up reforming in a very smart, well done manner.

I remember seeing the Trio of Trouble short with audio description, and being quite baffled when said audio description referred to Eggman's drawing of the dragon as a drawing of a _cow._ I hadn't read any interviews prior to that point either (all I knew that some commenter thought Trip looked like a raccoon), but I'm sure that drawing was NOT a cow. Could you imagine an alternate reality in which Sonic and friends had to fight an eldritch cow, or of Trip was a cow, though?

An interesting note about the use of the chaos emeralds is that we have to remember that Sonic adventure established between the came out later. Technically in the Sonic timeline that you can actually absorb power either negatively from the chaos emeralds or positively, and they're two separate things, which is why perfect chaos and supersonic were able to exist at the same time. Therefore wouldn't be surprising if the evil black dragon at the end of the game is the absorption of the negative side of the chaos emeralds which again would allow Sonic using the positive side to turn into supersonic.

The Sonic franchise always brings in animals we didn't know existed....😂 she's fire.. 🔥

I do believe Trip would find a lot in common with Knuckles, what with both of them being the last of their race and both of them being assigned a big responsibility for all their lives, Trip with dealing with the ancient dragon and Knuckles with protecting the Master Emerald. Both of them are also frequently isolated due to the responsibilities they've been shouldered with. Well, it's debatable with Knuckles, but this is the Classic Sonic timeline.

I wish Trip got more interactions with Knuckles. They come from such similar backgrounds that it practically writes itself how much potential those interactions held

I love that this kind of accounts for where the chaos emeralds were in old times. The Echidnas we’re watching over the Master Emerald. The Sungazers watched over the chaos emeralds. Hell, the time stones are even completely limited to Little Planet, so a civilization might’ve lived there at some point and guarded them, but due to the main plot of the story not being lore based and the game just…not being well designed, we don’t ever see them again. It’s an interesting lore implication and I like it

Sonic superstars just broke the lore and the timeline completely in my opinion, but i hope she appears in sonic movie 3 it would be amazing.

Superstars has major story potential, but the game doesn't really explain any of it. We get some cool tidbits in external media, but I shouldn't have to consult external media to understand the story contained within a single game.

I think, problem in storytelling of Classic Sonic games is that - considering Sonic cast DON'T talk in this type of game, they had to rely on cutscenes to tell a story, which is sometimes works and sometimes don't.
