    Great info on the 1200g mangrove lagoon tank, it’s looking 👀 fantastic. When the future plans are implemented, and as time passes, it will be just mind blowing as the first display you see on entering the superstore. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Was up in Orlando alittle bit before you guys opened up the new shop. Looking forward to coming back and seeing this thing. Somewhat of a bonus because by the time I get there the tank will be pretty mature. In the mean time I'll just have to get my fix by having coral sent to me 🥳 hopefully you'll keep growing and end up with another store further south so I can come visit more often

    Hey, Thank you for the reply. It’s not often that you get feedback from your feedback! No, sadly I haven’t. However I want to! Lol, well I HAD a business from early 2000’s. I had, let’s just say an early version of what WWC started and has perfected. I had a small but boutique style retail store and a moderately large service business. It did extremely well for many years. If you remember Fishheads wholesale, then well my shop closed when they decided to close. I got out before my sinking ship... sunk. I kept the service up until 2013. I then sold accounts to another good local business that was bank rolled by a deep pocketed kid with a huge trust fund. Long story... I was a big spender with Quality, Fish Heads, ERI, PAF, and Some local LA Cherry pickers. Back then it was almost impossible to get a good transship over to the DC area. The losses were crazy... not to mention the repackers would strip my ultra colonies and replace with garbage... During that I spent a lot of time on buying missions and got to see a few amazing ideas which still to this day seem to be avoided. In my shop I had a 25 gallon Carlson Surge setup. Basic siphon break system What operated forever with no issues. It really did wonders for faster rock curing and detritus removal. That 25 second “whoosh” was pretty magical and the water settled well in between surges. I can imagine now using electric knife style gate valves this could be achieved with timing and solenoid control. I got to see a large tidal “slice of the reef” out west In Santa Ana. One of the local shops at the time which was at The time the most amazing shop I’ve ever visited. It was small but to this day I’ve never seen healthier and thriving corals as I did there. This was before LEDs, and the place looked exactly like a reef 10ft down. The colors weren’t neon but they had the color man dream to have. Just imagine 13’ x 4’ x 5’, then an incline decline was added to the bottom at a slight but noticeable over the 13’ length. The decline was 7 feet of slope Then it leveled to a drop off. This display looked like a slice of a beach as you look down shoreline . They used two surges to push and pull just like the ocean. They added the largest Tunzes on controllers to allow tides. This aquarium even had a low Tide where rock became exposed and the surges turned off to mimic nature. The fish would school suspended the the rocking water. The fish would almost always face currents and acted just like The wild. It was one of the largest schools of Kole Tangs I’ve ever seen in a display. The magic of this system was before It’s time. The aquarium was pictured framed and had over 100 colonies of Cynaria. Back then healthy Cynaria we never here out East and if you got lucky... $90.00 or more wholesale... sea fans and gorgonia gently swayed and even though not glamourous Colt Leathers had a magical dance in the surge. The sand wasn’t an issue with cloudy water. I have pics of the system somewhere... I do miss Those days. I’ve been away for a long time. I became jaded and heartbroken because the wholesalers turned on us in 2008.... I was in an area With a huge local reef hub... they effected business and played the LFS against each other. Stores here were selling salt at a lost to entice customers away from my store. I had dumpster divers on camera trying to see my shipping labels. I had amazing hook ups, when you spend $30k a month of corals, wholesalers became scared when the market tanked and to survive the began to sell to club members directly. When I found out through my Reps that two local club members were buying direct and allowing people to order at cost, skipping the Brick and Mortor LFS... I felt betrayed. $8000 a month in expenses before even opening the store was hard to keep open when the local customers could get whatever they wanted at 4 x less than what a store sold. When I found out I could not get snails, crabs, shrimp and the like for almost two weeks. These are the bread an butters animals that kept people coming in... well why they were out of the critters? The local reef guys did a group by and for pennies on the dollar they got their critters from the two cats who figured out the cheat. It became a huge issue and I learned that for what was at that time futile To attempt to stop. The days of the business in Moms basement had come, and because the local clubs were so big... well you see what I’m getting at. If I couldn’t be the top of the hill and with almost no overhead, the sales for me dropped. Selection dropped, trans shipping was crooked and Australia corals changed the selections. I had a fiat fight break out in my store Over scans.... I could type forever, I just wanted to reflect. We have many mutual friends and I can say that I’m astonished by the taste and tack your company lives and breathes. The selection and craftsmanship of the design is what it should be. Nasty, smelly, flooded, neglected and sad should never be something an incredible animal from the ocean should endure. Although I have no plans at all getting back into the hobby, I’d love to see you in this area. There are 4 shops somewhat close that could easily loose business if even a small version of WWC was here. Trust me it’s needed! I’m not bashing the club, I’m stating that a few crooked guys and wholesalers who stated they never sold to business with lack of storefront.. kinda did the hobby and the stores an injustice that hurt more than anyone realized. Keep up .01 percent of excellence in doing this the right way. No one I’ve seen can compare!

    I keep contiplating flow solutions. Especially as the coral fills out in that tank, wonder if you could drop a couple abyzz A1200 in and just run the pipe under the rock structure branching out. Then just have some random flow indicators pointing toward the adjacent rock structure ect and set the pumps to alternate. A1200 probably is overkill but there DC adjustable and I would personally rather have the extra HP setting on standby if something changed. I hate regret. Probably could manifold it out with small pipes covered with rubble on each side of the structures to eliminate having to touch the rock work.

    Hi, would recommend a Panta Rhei Hydro Wizard 63 for the aquarium. We can write you a program that will allow you to start the pumps, and not have such a strong turbulence on the surface.

    Amazing tank....Q: If the plan was to fill the tank to that level, why not make the front panels lower? My guess is location, in a busy place one needs to distract people from 'accidentally' polluting the tank...if not that, why? Curious only....second question, does anyone put on a mask and go under water? The temptation for me would be too great...hahahaha

  • @WorldWideCorals

    @WorldWideCorals

    The weight of 1,200 gallons of saltwater requires the design to either have a brace or be filled half way. If the water volume was the same and the 3/4" thick glass was lower, then the seams would split. The extra height provides the strength for the tank to stay together without using a brace. 1,200 gallons weighs approximately 9,600 pounds 😮 . Trust me it would be way cheaper if that glass was shorter lol. We walk in the tank a couple times a week, but we usually use the mask in the 1,500g since you have to dive in to mount frags etc. Thanks for the question.

  • @jdearel1

    Lighting doesn't have an impact on nutrient export like flow will, it is the reason your filtration can do it's job. Not to mention flow will more likely be the reason for improper placement of your corals rather than lighting. And also the vast majority of times a coral can be acclimated to lighting and not water movement.

    It would be like in space. The CO2 build up has no were to go unless there’s fans pushing fresh oxygen to you so you can breath. You’d die from CO2 build up far faster then starving. Same for corals except their waste also lingers unless pushed away by current.

    You guys are too young,But I remember an old National Geographic in the early 80's of trying to recreate a coral reef at the Smithsonian. I wish I still had that because..what you have set up looks 21st century and what they had was mid 20th and almost pathetic in comparison..they were using stadium lights,algae filters and it looked pretty unattractive and high maintenance. Those huge Halide reflector covers and thousands of watts. Caulerpa in with the corals I think..and hair algae was the algae scrubber. What a difference.
