It broke my heart when Ashley said she was upset that her mother made her sound so stupid in the “suicide” note. The entire situation was extremely messed up but that was just adding insult to injury. I’m assuming it’s because Stacey’s skills were that limited. If not, that’s even worse.

I remember this case on Forensic Files. There were some really good sassy comments from the detectives and forensics agents, such as "why didn't he use the shotgun? Maybe he just wanted to die horribly over three days instead of in three-tenths of a second." and "what on Earth was this man doing committing suicide by turkey baster?" Stacey is one fucked up monster. She didn't give a crap about anyone except herself.

There's very little amusing about this, but I do love that Ashley took the time in her impact statement to say essentially "I am a college student, and you wrote a letter that sounded like I was dim eight year old what the fuck." But seriously, that letter has so many references to Stacy. Even in her daughter's supposed suicide note that claims responsability for two deaths, Stacy is the main focus. She's the main character in the story. What a red flag on top of the other ones.

Just an interesting aside regarding the ingestion of antifreeze and alcohol at the same time, or around the same time. Ethylene glycol (one of the main ingredients in antifreeze) is not particularly toxic in humans. It is the metabolism of the ethylene glycol in the liver that results in metabolites which do the damage. One of the first line treatment options is alcohol. While intravenous medicinal alcohol is preferred (as giving oral alcohol may be risky as the persons level of consciousness decreases due to the effects of the ethylene glycol ingestion), there are case studies where common spirits like vodka have been successfully given orally when no medical alternative was available. Basically, the alcohol is preferentially metabolised by the liver during which time the ethylene glycol is harmlessly excreted by the kidneys before it can be metabolised and nasty metabolites can form. The first time I was administering the treatment (as a young nurse), I became concerned as the patients behaviour altered with slurred speech and drowsiness. I called the doctor over who explained to me that the treatment was working and that this wasn't the effect of the ethylene glycol ingestion. The patient was getting drunk from the intravenous alcohol 😊 The patient made a full recovery 😊

Stacey Castor was one of the most heartless people I've ever heard of! To murder her husbands is bad enough, but to then try and murder her own innocent daughter to pin all that on her is really cold! She had no conscience. All she cared about was herself. Poor Ashley and Brie, too. I'm so glad Stacey got what was coming to her! God bless poor Ashley and the rest of the family. 🙏🏼

The alcohol that Ashley drank probably saved her life. That’s the cure for antifreeze poisoning, they prefer to give it intravenously but orally is possible. Antifreeze is (kind of) harmless if excreted by the kidneys before it gets to the liver, so by giving them alcohol the liver metabolises that first, giving the kidneys time to get rid of the antifreeze. Ashley is a brave girl. And I hope she’s proud of herself for being so strong.

It's quite shocking to see a mother so thoroughly betray her daughter like that, this isn't a matter of making a mistake in the moment, she is waging a campaign. I did a couple of years of Psych whilst at Uni for fun, and I recall reading that the mother-daughter relationship is the most powerful relationship of all among humans. On top of all the obvious similarities they also share a similarity in the area of the brain responsible for emotions, potentially allowing for greater empathy as they are likely to process emotion similarly. It's not guaranteed obviously, it just makes the likelihood for greater empathy. I'd take a guess that the mother Stacey suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Psychopathy but even that combination doesn't feel sufficient in defining her. Anybody reading this with a background in Psychology I'd be very interested to hear what sort of personality disorder could have caused her to act like this.

And your dry and wry wit adds quite a lot of entertainment value. I know these are real people and entertainment isn’t the point, but as a long time scholar of true crime, I do believe it’s easier to wrap your mind around these tragedies if there are moments of levity. The DA was savage 'who commits suicide using a turkey baster?' good detective work from Law enforcement and the DA fried monster Stacy really well on the stand. She's soulless that she even tried to kill and frame her daughter (Ashley). She's in hell now, good riddance.

Funny how every guy she got with was “controlling”…….. I was with someone who told me the same about her ex partners. Turns out she was controlling, violent and abusive. If you get with someone who tells you this, maybe it’s true…… But sometimes there are too many coincidences to actually be a coincidence.

I'm dealing with a monster of my own and I don't know what to do but your cases help me when I watch them cuz each time when I see a person standing up for themselves like the daughters of this situation that is just horrible and I feel so bad for them but at the same time I can cry with them and feel not everything they feel of course not but your shows do help me because every time I watch somebody like do a victim in pack statement accord or a you know just not being a victim anymore and being a survivor helps me so thank you so much for your hard work that you put into this videos and I hope one day my monster will go away too 🙏💯❤️

You notice that there was no emotion or remorse on her face during the daughter's impact statement. Stacy is a prime example of how cold a person with her personality disorder can be. It's truly disturbing that there are people out there who feel so little for their own family and children.

I'm not defending Stacey, but you can't judge someone by their lack of expression. Especially in court. People have different amounts of expressiveness, and in court a person might be feeling numb or overwhelmed anyway, or they might have instructions from their lawyer on how to look.
