That was a very moving video and story of dear Brother Andre. My mother was very devoted to St Joseph as the Patron & Guardian of the family. We were 9 children strong. She prayed to him always and called him “Dear St Joseph”. I’ve found a new Saint to follow, St Brother Andre, beautiful heart & soul

Thank you Monica for this well researched documentary. I was there many times over 40 years ago while I was very involved in Montreal church activities. I have friends now suffering greatly and was guided to watch this video today. Brother André, please intercede to St.Joseph for my dearest friends on my behalf. Amen.

My grandmother was born in St. Germaine de Grantham, Quebec in 1905. Her family moved to Connecticut and sometime around 1928-30 she moved back to Canada because my Grandfather had found a job as a carpenter there and they took my mother with them as she was a baby. My Grandmother became ill and almost died more than once and had lost weight to be less than 90 lbs. She went to see Brother Andre, he talked with her and they prayed together. He then told her that she would be alright, and although it was a long recovery, she lived for more than another 60yrs. into her 90s. We have gone to the Oratory several times.

I have a great devotion to dear St. Joseph and I owe it all to reading a book about the life of Brother Andre almost thirty years ago. St. Joseph is a marvelous intercessor, patron and friend who has never failed to help me when I am in a desperate situation. Him and Our Lady are truly my spiritual parents!

Wonderful documentary and Great Saint. When I read the story of St Andre in 1971 and visited this great basilica of St Joseph, I decided to change my name from Nasri to Joseph as well as asked favors from St Joseph which were fulfilled. The irony is that I walked out of the basilica as Joseph and struggled hard in convincing my family, relatives and friends to call me Joseph. Soon after I legally changed my name. The holy oil I bought from the Oratory healed a friend of mine from kidney stones and another from a severe pain from a cramp from the back through one of his legs. May Jesus be Glorified in His Holy Saints, Amen.

I'll have to go over to my grandmother's house and pull out her history books and figure out exactly what he is to me. She has traced her lineage all the way back to a 4th century Roman legionnaire in emperor Constantine's army. I've only recently become Interested in my families lineage but it's fascinating to learn all of this. I wonder how closely we are related. Do you know of the Gamosh/Caudill families at all by chance? I'll post again once I know more.

Brother Andre was related to Ste~Marguerite d'Youville, if I am not mistaken, though his mother, Clothilde Foisy, so you may have two saints in the family.

From Puerto Rico...a visit many years ago but as a tourist with faith and for my devotion to Saint Joseph, but I did not now any about Saint Andre. I ask for his interceciòn for a little Chapelle.La Santa Cruz(Holy Cross)that my dad built 65 years ago in poor area at the country side and this week many people want to destroy because of the damages of the huracan Marìa at PR...I pray for two miracles one that we can keep it and the second miracle for the money to rebuild the ceiling. Excellent summary, Monica. I went up inside the dome of St. Joseph's (using workmen's scaffolding that was permanently there) - part of a tour conducted by one of the priests for 5 junior high students (2 RC, 3 Prot) who were recording a show for CBC's 'Roundabout' in 1957. The priest treated us all to hamburgers afterward and gave us each a book on Brother Andre. I had visited in 1948 with my family but only remember seeing his embalmed heart. I became a Catholic in 1968.

I am also related to St. Andre, he is my cousin (4, 5 ?) on my dads side, so we both have the same Great, great....grandfather, Charles Barsalou. Andre's grandmother was Ursula Marie Barsalou, Clothilde's mother! So amazing! Hi relatives out there!😁
