While making this video I decided I am going to make a "how MG1 + 2 shaped the franchise" edit detailing all the similarities and callbacks to the two originals throughout the franchise. Since many people still haven't played (or in my case, finished because it's hard lol) there may be a lot of details that fall through the cracks. The beauty is in the details and I didn't want to bombard this video with references so look for that in the next couple weeks! :)

1:44 The line that sounds like TPP is how Zanzibarland seized every nuclear weapon. Looking at TPP infiltration missions to neutralise nuke stuff around the world, this subject was well used 25 years before TPP. Every Metal Gear game have connections between each other, that one is part of it.

12:30 This part is hilarious to me. The snake is probably dangerous but there's something so silly about a snake literally just chilling in the inventory screen.

Fun fact Madnar returns behind the scenes that helps Raiden numerous of times. Getting his real blood back after MGS2 and giving him cyborg parts in MGS4 and upgrading his body in MGR.

Just finished both og metal gear videos of this and it was amazing. I loved the way you did it because it kind of felt like I was playing it again and refreshing on what I knew and learning some stuff I forgot or never picked up on. Definitely watching your other videos.

Thanks for the videos about the Story of Metal Gear 1 and 2! I finally decided to play for the first time the whole Metal Gear franchise, so I bought the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection for the PS3, tried to play the MSXs ones, but it's so hard and the are a lot backtracking that I decided to watch KZread videos, now I feel prepared to play Metal Gear Solid, hope that I can finish that one

My favorite game series ever. I just recently finished this game for the first time (I'd been putting it off for some goofy reason haha) Been with this series since 1999 after I played MGS for the first time. Nice video and I love your voice! I agree with the guys here, the remake should've been MG+MG2 in a single game, keeping it simple, but taking it to modern levels of graphics, sound, and gameplay. Chapter I could be MG and Chapter II MG2. I don't know why, but I imagine something more like MGS2 and 3 than 5 with that hypothetical remake.

Metal gear my favourite saga ! After a looonge break from gaming (10years+), im restarting the metal gear serie, juste finished the MSX MG1 ( 6h playtime on 5 days 😂 ) and just started the 2, i love your work, thanks ! 💯💯💯

The neat thing about this and metal gear solid is that they follow the same story beats but with different characters and locations I’ve only played the metal gear solid games and only knew about metal gear and metal gear 2 from my instruction manual and it said the games only came out in Japan which would be the case until metal gear 2 was included in metal gear solid 3!

They should remake the first 2 Metal Ger Games, Metal Gear from 1987 my birth year and Metal Gear 2: Solid snake from 1990

Thank you! & yeah this is the real big boss as venom was taken out in mg1. The patriots recovered his body after mg2 and Frankenstein’d him and kept him comatose until 4 when the system freed him

We need a remake of the first two msx metal gear games with metal gear solid v gameplay and using the same fox engine.

Insane how similar MG2 to MGS. Probably could have been the superior if had the similar development technology

1990 is my birth year too Also Kyle Schneider is Null from Portable Ops. Frank Hunter is Frank Jaeger (Jaeger is Hunter in German) so... Grey Fox.

I played and beat this on PS Vita. It is a great game, very epic. But I hated the swamp. That part totally brings my fun factor to zero very quickly. Other than that it's be cool if we got a new game that had Metal Gear 1 and 2 with modern graphics and a revised script.

Hot take: I think the graphics and presentation are fine, and I would like to see the series remastered on the msx engine, but with quality of life upgrades like cqc, hold ups, and persistent guard bodies.

I'm so grateful for these videos. I'm just getting into the metal gear franchise but these games HAVE NOT aged well. I understand that people love these game. but getting into it in 2023 just isn't for me lol. I finished the first one but it was actually insufferable for me. the backtracking and the map design was a huge turn off for me. I get that for 1987 standards the game was great, but 36 years later... it's rough. at least MGS1 is much better in the gameplay department as well as MGS2 and ESPECIALLY 3. Thank you so much.

Snake left Holly for the same reason he left Meryl. His PTSD nightmares and struggles with finding purpose in life. In the end Big Boss was right to an extent. Snake knew nothing but combat and could never truly live his life in peace... That is before Big Boss in MGS4 told him it's finally time to set aside the gun and live as not a soldier, but as a man. I think after he broke up with Meryl, that's why he never perused another relationship after. Although he did show a bit of interest in Otacon's sister. Lol
