The Story of Kanan & Ezra || Star Wars Rebels
Ойын-сауық
(spoilers for all four seasons of Star Wars Rebels)
Rebels was a show that I started watching last year, and even though I enjoyed it, life got busy and it fell by the wayside. I hadn’t even realized I never finished it…until this season of The Mandalorian. Suddenly everyone was talking about The Mandalorian potentially tying into the last couple seasons of Rebels and I went ‘huh…I never finished that show! I must remedy that asap’ and thus I binge-watched the remaining two seasons in a week (and I am SO GLAD I did because I freaked out when Thrawn was name-dropped in 2x05!!) But aside from The Mandalorian tie-ins, holy crap how did I not come back to this show sooner?? It’s incredible and deserves much more recognition.
Watching this show again reminded me of my love for Kanan and Ezra, who remain my favorite characters on Rebels. I love them individually and I love them together; their master/padawan relationship has always deeply touched me (honestly they’re on the same level as Anakin & Ahsoka for me). Despite this, I hadn’t entertained the thought of editing them - until one relaxing Saturday morning when the idea suddenly hit me over the head like a freight train. For as much as I love editing and as many edits as I make, many ideas get put on lists until I have time to get around to them. Not so this idea! I had finished Rebels only a couple days before, and all those emotions towards the characters and story needed an outlet. And just like that, my relaxing weekend became an editing frenzy (aka I was in heaven). I set out to tell Kanan & Ezra’s story - all the ups & downs and hilarity and heartbreak and everything in between. What was going to be a tribute with one song turned into two turned into three, until somewhere along the way this became my longest edit to date (I regret nothing). I actually got emotional all over again editing this (because of course I was emotional watching it). This edit came together mostly over the course of last weekend, with finishing touches spilling into this week. I don’t know if I’ve ever pulled an edit this complicated together so quickly before, but I do know that it’s been a while since I’ve felt this level of joy while editing.
All that to say - this edit is very close to my heart. It’s basically my love for these characters bottled up and expressed creatively, and I’m enormously proud of the finished product and the many hours and hours of work that went into creating it. I got so much joy out of just making this that that right there is enough, but I hope it touches you guys as well and you enjoy it!
(If anyone read this entire rambling description, you’re amazing and I love you).

Kanan Jarrus is the most underrated and underestimated jedi of all time and I love that about him ❤

True dat 👏
Kanan was much more a parent to Ezra than a Master. And their relationship was all the better for it. Their attachment to each other made them stronger.

Just like Anakin and Ahsoka used to be
“I think you inspired the kid to do something, you know, like you would do!” Putting that on top of both of their last moments?!? Genius. 😭😭😭👍🏻
“I’ll always come back.” MY HEART. They’re MY FAVORITE Father/Son duo. 😭😭❤❤

And he even came back to help Ezra after death in another form😭😭
Although this is an animated show with fictitious characters I've grown to have an attachment to these characters especially Ezra and Sabine but really enjoy the relationship Kanan and Ezra have as if they were Father and Son. This was really well done
I think it's important that the Jedi who were younger during the Purge evolved and adapted and let go of some of the more rigorous rules of the Jedi Order. We saw it with Cal Kestis and Kanan Jarrus. They still respect the Jedi Code but realize that some aspects of it were too detached and too harsh. Kanan's relationship with Hera, for example. Hera is Kanan's closest friend, his confidant, and his partner in crime. He's okay with robbing from the Empire and making small differences but she saw that they could do so much more. Ezra assumes his parents are dead and has no structure or person to guide him when he feels uncertain. The Ghost crew becomes a surrogate family to him and Kanan becomes like a father. It's only because of the love and affection that Ezra got from Kanan that he becomes the Jedi he was always meant to be. One that would sacrifice himself for the people and planet he loved.
Now I am fully convinced that this type of relationship could have been Qui Gon and Anakin if they were given the opportunity to be a Master-Padawan duo.

Doubt it Qui-Gon would have been similar to Obi Wan and Yoda. But this was the type of relationship Anakin needed.
Kanan: I thought I lost you I love these types of moments: when Ezra is close to dying because it shows how much Kanan cares about him. ❤❤❤
One of the best master and apprentice/father and son relationships in Star Wars

Considering the competition, not a high bar. But these two, along with Hera, actually puts Kanan as tied with Ahsoka for my favorite. I just love the Dad Jedi.

Oh man!! I love this! Star Wars Rebels is one of my favorite tv series! I love this Space Family! Especially Kanan and Ezra's master/padawan and father/son dynamic! This is an amazing tribute for them! I love it!
JEDI are nearest to the force , their compassion , their love , their responsibility, makes them what they are A " JEDI"
man I miss them and the show kanan was an amazing character
My goodness this was beautiful! So glad you had a chance to finish watching Rebels it's one of my favorite shows ever. The Ghost crew is just the cutest little family ever!!
I swear we better see Kanan in the World Between Worlds before Ahsoka is finished. We at least gotta see Dume at least once. I gotta know he’s still out there, looking after his family in the force.

@@anannonymouscoverartist I hope, I am glad we at least got to see plenty of his family. Zeb was also suspiciously absent, I was really hoping we'd get to see him reunited with Ezra, since they had that whole brotherly bond thing going. I'm sure Zeb misses Ezra almost as much as Sabine does... or did. I guess they were saving the full reunion for season 2... Maybe we'll see Dume(Kanan's spirit wolf) return when Ezra returns to Lothal? Honestly at this point I'm just hoping we get a chance to see a second season, with an actor dead, and audience reactions being... mixed, disney might just scrap the whole project and put it on ice, at least until the new movie is out.
These two characters were amazing and had such a great dynamic! I truly hope we get to see more of Ezra in the future. Amazing work!!
What did Kanan say, holding out his hand, as his surrogate son plummeted through the dark on a collapsing imperial station? *“Ezra! Let go!”* One. Last. Lesson. (And they say this series is inferior to Clone Wars 🤣)

AHHHH!!! This hit my heart so hard!!! I saw this show for the first time last year, and I just recently started re-watching it. This was phenomenal! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Your editing skills are amazing, and I can see your talent clearly showcased in the voice overlay and scene transitions (no easy feat). Star Wars: Rebels is one of my favorite Star Wars shows of all time, and Dave Feloni is a mastermind who knows exactly which heartstrings to pull to make his audience care for his characters and their plights. The journey Kanan and Ezra make together--from Master/Padawan to Father/Son--is one of the highlights of the show. Please continue making these awesome edits as your talent should never be wasted. :D --Heather

Beautiful tribute. I know took alot of work. It tells the story beautifully. I've grown so fond of these characters and happy to hear rumors of live action Ezra and Sabine. Hope they do them justice.. and for those of us who happened upon this really well told story.
Ah, man. I'm CRYING AGAIN.
My top favourite Jedi depiction. If Qui Gon ever knew Kanan , he would love him.
NAHHHH THIS IS AMAZINGG. PERFECTLY CAPTURES EVERYTHING ABOUT THEIR BOND. And the editing itself is incredible, I LOVE to see it. Definitely my favourite Master and padawan duo! 😁
Ahsoka sees Kanan and Ezra as how she used to be with Anakin. Both pairs had a rough beginning but became close and they were more than just master and apprentice. Both Ahsoka and Ezra couldn’t save their masters from their fates but their masters eventually gave up their lives for the ones they care about!
I’ve literally been waiting to find a video like this for months and I’m glad I found this one

Kanan is awesome. One of my favorites.
make me cry why dont you!
Why do they always have to break our hearts? Always 💔
I would love to see an Ezra/Sabine series with a love story, they getting married along with still fighting for justice. and a long happy life.
❤️
He he did come back he reincarnated into a wolf like creature and came back and saved them but then because he's a spiritual be he had to return back to where he came because those wolves are known as more of a spiritual creature than a physical creature in a manner of speaking. So what happens now especially with the son of Canaan? And I'm not just talking Ezra either.
