If Henry did served in the armed forces, then that would explain why Henry isn't really disgusted or horrified of the horrors of the workshop. And why he has basic knowledge of the Tommy gun.

For someone who doesn't know, The ilusion of living book is based on disney's book: ilusion of life(if i remember the name correctly)

Henry and Joey are the same person. They represent two points in a mans life. Henry the innocent cartoonist and Joey the greedy business tycoon. Henry assumed the Joey personality as greed took over his life and eventually he forgot the man he was. Having lost everything...Joey now realizes he took the wrong path in life. He wrote the ink machine story for himself...to find peace by reconnecting with his former self as the hero of a story where he is given the chance to correct the mistakes he made. He is now reliving that story over and over in his mind. Perhaps the story loops and cannot end because Joey does not want to confront the reality of his sad life. All of the characters including the ink machine are metaphors for loss and the destructive aspects of joeys life. Joey uses real themes from his own life as plot devices to tell his story as many writers do. The creators of this game are clearing and cleverly drawing parallels to Walt Disney and what has become the Disney empire.

It's kinda like fight club.. The personality splits and becomes an alter ego to accommodate what's going in externally when things in life become too overwhelming to deal with.. Joey was the man Henry had to become to achieve his empire, but as stated above, realizes he choose the wrong path and is trying to right his wrongs by going back to when he was the hero and not the villian in the story.. The only thing that throws me off is henrys audiotape on level P.. but then again Joey could have already been a pseudonym or nickname for Henry , and becoming a character he creates.. just like his animations.. Anyways great theory! Got me thinking :D

you're wrong on one point. WWI predated the invention of the Tommy gun. The Tommy gun wasn't invented until 1921, and WWI started shortly after the Edwardian period in the early 1900s.

Nice theory. But with that world war 1 thing, what if Henry was a soldier for the germans, because of his last name Stein and Joey for the Americans and perhaps they met and don't wanted or refused to shoot each other. Perhaps even Henry shot Joey and felt sorry afterwards, because Joey had to sit in a wheelchair.

lol I know this comment is 5 years old, but I think henry is a wwII soldier, since he knows how to handle a tommy gun. Also, I think that he served for the Americans. I also think that, if he fought in ww1, he'd be American, due to his accent.

#SuperHorrorBro in the last moments of chapter 5, the papers filled with photos from different loops. On one of them Sammy has a gun and in a line "Alice" says "still...Sammy was a very hansome man" meaning she may of had a thing for him, so maybe the gun the Sammys shooting is from a time loop that Alice may remember

Those are my thoughts as well.

I definitely agree that Henry is based on Ubb Iwerks. I watched the Walt Disney documentary from PBS again and saw the parallels. I also think Henry is based on Art Babbit, the creator of Goofy who was not treated fairly by Disney, was eventually fired, and inspired Disney's animators to go on strike.

Its amazing how far we’ve gotten, back when it was chapter 1 the only theory is, Joey forgot to give back Bendy’s lawnmower back and now he’s going on a rampage to teach him a lesson

Someone that feels chained down or crippled in some manner may want to be big in other ways to make up for it or focus on legacy. That makes sense with his personality.

It does make sense for Henry to have been in the armed forces. He knows how to fight in the game, and knows how to push on,

Joey drew and Henry are the same person....multiple dimensions of personalities of a single man. Perhaps Joey drew is a pen name. The ink machine story is taking place over and over in Joeys mind. Henry eventually assumed the Joey drew personality after coming up with his bendy characters and starting to achieve fame. The transformation to the Joey drew personality was necessary to build his empire. The Joey drew persona represents greed. Over time joey lost his friends and eventually his business. Now that he has lost everything he is recalling his suppressed memory of himself and recognizing the values of the man he was before greed took over. The ink machine story is a story he wrote and is now living over and over in his mind. In this story henry is the hero saving his lost friends and putting a stop to everything he looks back upon with regret. The ink machine and bendy are metaphors. The ink machine is the incessant drive to keep building his business that ultimately consumed him. Both Henry and the original Bendy represent the innocent endearing qualities of the young cartoonist. Eventually Joey drew and evil bendy came to represent evil qualities of the businessman. These now haunts Henry. There is a theme of rebirth / multiple personas with most of the key characters. I believe this symbolizes the tragedy of the destructive relationships that resulted from Joey Drew’s loss of humanity as he focused more on business than people and friendship. Joey now regrets being alone. In the ink machine, Henry reconnections with characters that symbolize his friends. In real life he knows these people are gone forever. Henry sounds young in the ink machine because this is how Joey remembers himself as a young man. Joey now wishes he would have listened to his Henry persona and focused on family and friendship and the beauty and imagination of art and storytelling which he lost when greed took over.

Okay, Mike, if you're looking for a topic for your next Bendy video, how about you try explaining the whole relationship between Audrey and Sammy in Dark Revival? Kay, we're going to have to wait for it to come out, but it'll still be interesting.

I do know that a lot of other theories point to the whole thing being just story but frankly I dislike those as they are just step above "dream theory". I adore this theory much more.

That makes sense to me. I can't wait for part 2! Another good question to ask: Why did Joey invite Henry back to the studio in the first place? Henry came back after Joey's dreams for his studio and Bendy Land flopped, so trying to turn him into a cartoon character like Susie, Allison and Tom wouldn't be too practical at that point. My guess: Joey had actually been keeping tabs on the studio somehow, whether he was just watching events unfold or directly manipulating the place so that nobody could escape and the inky fates of all those poor souls Joey stole would remain a secret, I don't know. But either way, I think Joey was particularly keeping an eye on Ink Bendy, dreading the possibility of him escaping the studio and all the hot water he'd be in if the outside world ever caught sight of the Ink Demon, especially everyone else he used. So after sending a letter to his old friend, the one that left, Henry returns to Joey Drew Studios unknowingly acting as Joey's pawn to kill the Ink Demon and tie up the one loose knot he had left from years of running everyone around him into the ground, because Joey was always sure the others would never escape the studio. So what I'm hoping for now is a sequel where all questions are finally answered, we escape the studio and give Joey a taste of his own medicine! What do you think?

Joey Drew's main biggest problem was he chose to work on cartoons during the time of the great depression at which time it would be unethical to try something like a theme park because so many people were unable to afford daily needs that cartoons and things of entertainment would have been the first to go under because people who can't afford basic essentials would not put money toward entertainment when survival was their first priority

Ok I have these Theories I think Henry was either serving in the military or the Armed Forces or special forces. Because he isn’t really disgusted or horrified about the horrors of the workshop even when you play the first time Henry doesn’t seem to care in someways or he has just been in the loop for too long that he knows his way around and knows how to use the Tommy gun.But I think he served in the military but I also think he’s just been in the loop too long that he knows his way around. This is gonna sound stupid but I feel like Joey Drew is like Walt Disney, like, they both make cartoons for kids and have voice actors. But unlike Drew, Disney did not abuse his workers, Joey was a toxic owner of his own studio. Bendy=Mickey Mouse Alice Angel=Minnie Mouse Boris=Goofy

I sure hope we find more information in the sequel since Chapter 5 didn't give us much information.

Umm... Actually I think that the apartment of Joey is actually the old workshop where they worked and that means the studio we explored was not in reality it was a realm made by ink machine bc the things in the apartment are more and more realistic cuz the wheelchair on the flashing picture was cartoony and the wheelchair in his apartment was realistic and we do see a ink machine that's more realistic than the one in cartoony studio that means everyone is stuck in studio they are reanimated and been out to the cartoony studio but when Henry came maybe they wanted him to be reanimated too andmI think that Joey also was reanimated into Ink demon so according to my calculations we are not in reality

Because bendy is more than just a cartoon copy, as obviously seen by his supernatural abilities. Even Thomas Connor said that he seemed "unworldy". He's named the "ink" demon for a reason.
