I remember being a ‘car headlamp flasher’ to Radio Caroline - with my girlfriend Sue. 53 years of marriage on she is in a Carehome with advanced dementia. I play her this song and sing along, her face comes to life and I get a loving smile of recognition, she holds my PPE gloved hand and beats time - which makes my life... Thank you Seekers!! Frank (Since posting my message I’m very sad to say that my dear Susie died from a chest infection in November 2021. I was with her as she went - and THE song was sung…. Our youngest daughter put a video projection together for the well-attended funeral and (needless to say) the sound track was …”I’ll never find another you”.) Thanks for your many kind comments! Today I learn Judith Durham has died…. The song so true of her as well my Sue. May she rest in peace - and sing again!

Time has past and so has she. This saying is especially true now. I listened to her growing up, so I may be hearing her again very soon. I find it odd that I don't feel as sorry for my hardships as I do for those that I well remember. Maybe because it is my loss. When I pass it will be someone else's loss. I'm 74 and a being of student-run college radio in the US midwest in the late 1960s. I've heard it all when it comes to the '60's music. The Seekers weren't especially on my radar other than "Georgie Girl". However, as a retiree replaying music, I fell in love with a lot of their music, including "Another You". Early in Summer 2022 I scoured KZread for everything I could find on them, especially Judith Durham. There was something truly magical about her voice and smile. The news of August was personally truly devastating to me. And then her death was dramatically overshadowed by the loss of Olivia Newton-John a mere 3 or 4 days later. Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and talent were truly a gift to mankind. The beauty of her voice and music live on in accompaniment with the 3 gentlemen as she rests in peace. May her memory be for a blessing.

This song is pure magic. And to see this group sing it the same way, in the same key, same tempo, and with the same instrumentation throughout the decades as they age, is incredibly beautiful! As a cynical engineer, tears don't come to me that easily, but this is the one song that does it every time. My dad died in late '64, and this was a hit a couple of months later; my mom couldn't bear to hear it because she knew she "would never find another you". She never did. And even apart from that association in my mind, this is a great song brilliantly performed. There are very few cover versions because nobody else could touch it; they certainly couldn't make it better than what came out of Abbey Road 56 years ago.

Judith Durham was the lead vocalist for the group between 1962 and 1968, the period of their greatest popularity in the US, crowned by the theme song for the movie "Georgy Girl," which was a bit of a departure from their folk song origins. The group disbanded, then reformed for retrospectives in 1975-1991, with other female leads. During that period, Durham pursued a solo career and composed. Durham rejoined the group and sang lead from 1992-2019, surprisingly retaining the purity of her voice over those decades. She is one of the few popular singers with classical voice training, and it shows. She also trained in classical piano and guitar. In 2013, Durham suffered a stroke that diminished her ability to read and write musical scores, but her singing voice was not affected. She remains one of the finest female vocalists of the 20th century, and beyond. A true legend.

After Judith's brain hemorrhage, and meeting an Australian girl at an open mike night, the following composed itself in my head. After I sent it to Judith, an aide replied that she was thrilled with it. The tune should be self-suggestive: Hey there, Judith Durham Leading up The Seekers through the years You and all your mates gave us lots of fun And memories too - then suddenly Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the nasty scare that May But your mates stood by you all the way And you pulled right through You ne’er were scared of changing and rearranging yourself Nor scared of jumping down from the shelf More than a little bit Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the rocky road ahead But you brought out all the strength you hid And, oh, what a change there's been The world has seen a new Judith Durham
