The Story Behind The Most Disrespectful Celebration Of All Time

Спорт

Emmanuel Adebayor’s famous celebration in front of the Arsenal fans has been criticised as one of the most disrespectful in history. While there is no getting around the fact that his actions were controversial, there is actually a lot more to this celebration than you might realise. In this video, we take a look at the context behind Adebayor’s move to City, why the Arsenal fans had grown to hate him and what that famous moment meant to the history of the Premier League.

It was the worst behaviour from a player that I’ve ever seen at my club for 39 years as a fan. Having said that… it’s vile to witness the abuse he faced from certain sections of our fan base. Disgusting doesn’t even describe it. It’s absolutely criminal to abuse on personal level, family or racist levels. Arsenal fans have quite a full history with such experience. Adebayor never wanted to leave Arsenal. He was pulled into a meeting with Wenger and told he was being sold (for financial reasons). Arsenal's board had a habit of selling their players back then and/or spinning it to cover their own backs. So imagine these lies were told about him, he was sold when he didn't want to leave and then he had Arsenal fans booing him from kick off and singing nasty chants about his parents. Legendary celebration indeed 🎉

The old geezer saying if any player is getting any abuse should count to ten and leave it to authorities... clearly lived a privileged life and has never experienced racial abuse 💯

The only person who got punished was the player himself for his gesture of celebration towards the Arsenal fans. Not any of the fans who racially abuse him and throw objects at him.

After all it was just a goal celebration and (I like to add) a quite modest one. Despite the background story I do not see anything disrespectful in that.

If u starting booing players, why do u get hurt when the same players hurt u where it matters most by scoring against your team, and come straight to u,that's childish,Adebayor was a great player Arsenal fans, just swallow your pride and learn to control your emotions, u acted childishly,U dd what u had to do,teach them a lesson, this is just a game for God's sake,I would have never apologized, even those who fined him, acted immaturely, and I am sure, race was also the push behind their actions,Racism will never end in football because the ppl up there, I mean football officials are racists themselves,I am very proud of Adebayor, U gave them something to chew my brother,Big Ups to u.

Africans please I beg you to please rise up and be counted among the nations of the world! We always complain about racism, slavery, apartheid etc. This victim mentality has to stop!!!. People treat us the way they do cause they have no respect for us. You're in Europe to fend for yourselves and your families what are doing to uplift Africa in general. Can't we set up big competitive leagues in the African Continent. Africans in the diaspora, what are you doing for Africa? You've surely amassed enough skills to spearhead the process of renewing of continent. You are better suited to lead that process. Africa needs you. You have done a great job uplifting your colonial masters countries, you fought their wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan etc. You displayed exceptional performance in sports under their banners / flags only to treated like 3rd class citizens as soon as you got back home. Steven Bantubonke Biko lamented these sentiments almost 50 years ago, BLACK MAN, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. 🇿🇦
