I vividly recall the pleasure I derived from reading series such as 'The House of Night' and 'The Hunger Games' during my childhood at the age of 12. These books provided me with a means of coping with bullies by transporting me to a different reality, where I could immerse myself for hours. Furthermore, I recognized at a young age that this activity was a far more valuable use of my time than spending hours in front of a computer screen playing mindless MMORPG games.

I have a terrible memory. I've known people I work with at least once a week for years and can't remember their names. I know this impacts things I've read in the past as well. There are a couple series I love and remember a lot from though. It also helps that I go back and listen to the audiobooks multiple times.

Glad you didn’t give up reading because of it! It’s kinda weird how memory works I also can’t remember peoples names that I meet but I’ll remember the entire plot in order of books I’ve read

1st this is the very thing I found the most horrifying about stephen king's "IT" but I fully agree that while its hard to pin point what has influenced your life and decisions it is clear that even when you cannot recall things perfectly that they have influenced your neurology by reinforcing the pathways that bring pleasure or distress to events in your life. I may not remember everything I have read but I know I am better for reading them. good topic!

I feel you! I'm 43 and have read soo much many stories I would love to read again but don't remember the name of the author or the story. My mom homeschooled me an gave all are book to another women who was homeschooling her children and her house burnt down along with all the books. My first kindle was stolen along with over 200 dollars worth of books I had bought at like two bucks a piece;plus all the free downloads. There was one series on my Kindle about an angel named Sariael who went between dimensions and taught a boy how to fight there were three book that I read they all had an eye on the cover , different colors of eye for each book. Wish I could remember the author so I could look them up and read again.

I really liked this video, sometimes I think about if I'll ever get a chance to reread some of the books I've read in the past, or complete the series that I had started. Loved seeing Eragon in the video, haven't seen enough of it online. Now that I'm getting more time I really hope to not only go back but build upon those old foundations and see how they've influenced me.

I can relate so much to this, I have been reading fiction for the last 5 years like a beast. I have read more than 170 webnovels, mainly xianxia, xuanhuan or wuxia with most of them havig more than 1000 chapters. I often end up reading a webnovels first 15 chapters only to realise that I have read this one. I don't remember the name of the MC of the last novel I read. Also the guilt associated with reading only fiction like an addict also eats me up.

@@TheJackedNerd. No, its in Chinese, written in English, Called Pinyin writing, so all the names are 3 worded made with a limited set of words like Qin, Wang, lu, Zhao etc and also the chapters are small, like 10 chapters in this is equal to 1 in yours

I'm not sure if I have stories that I forget since I started reading. The Magic Fish was one of the children stories I read, and until now, I can still remember its plot. Yeah, there is more. I used to read The Hardy Boys. There's this one book of the series that I loved but I forget its title completely. All I remember now is Joe and Frank investigate a plane crash.
