The Stooges - Fun House 50th Deluxe Edition (Henry Rollins Unboxing Video)
Музыка
Rhino is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Fun House with the first LP edition of the 1999 7-CD Rhino handmade boxed set (1970: The Complete Fun House Sessions). Limited Edition Boxed Set - 1,970 individually numbered copies Rhino.lnk.to/FunHouse
Fans will hear a newly remastered 2-LP version of Fun House, cut at half speed (45 rpm) for optimum audio quality, with a 4th side vinyl etching. The set’s remaining 13 LPs contain nothing less than every take from the Fun House sessions, in order, exactly as The Stooges recorded them. Those studio tracks are followed by a recording of The Stooges performing live in New York City in August 1970, just as Fun House was released. The 39-minute concert remained unreleased until 2010, when it came out as Have Some Fun: Live At Ungano’s. Rounding out the music in this deluxe set are two mixes of the single “Down On The Street”/“I Feel Alright.” The first is the “Mono Single Edit” released in France, and the other is the unique “Single Mix” that was unreleased until the original 1999 boxed set. Each one is pressed on 7-inch vinyl and presented in a sleeve with reproduction artwork. Beyond the music, the collection also includes a 24-page booklet with rare photos and new liner notes, featuring an essay by Henry Rollins and testimonials penned by an extensive list of rock ‘n’ roll luminaries including Clem Burke, Flea, Joan Jett, Shirley Manson, J Mascis, Duff McKagan, Thurston Moore, Tom Morello, Karen O, Andy Partridge, and Steven Van Zandt, among others, plus posters, prints, a turntable slipmat, and a 45 adapter.

Iggy has lived to see one of the most hated albums of 1970, become one of the most revered. The Stooges were so far ahead of their time, they left it completely. Few acknowledged them at the time, but Bowie recognized Ig's talent very early on. Henry has been a massive fan of The Stooges for decades. What a fine tribute to a very important group.

@@martinwatson6806 True. The Pistols put The Stooges on the map, by covering "No Fun". I saw the Sex Pistols back in 1976, and they were the closest thing to The Stooges at that time. Johnny Rotten was very intimidating indeed, he had clearly taken a massive cue from Ig. Btw, there is a photo of The Stooges from 1970 with a huge flag of the Union Jack behind them!

One of my top 10 fav albums of all time.
Ron Ashton was in r&r history that rarest of things: a great guitarist & bassist, & as if that wasn't enough he crystallised the 'noise guitar' garage sound & although it took a few years to take root it spawned punk guitar & hopefully he died (albeit too soon) knowing his particular life's achievements had been recognised. Surely the most anyone can hope for.

Probably the best unboxing I've ever watched! This is how they go when someone intelligent, witty and intimately connected is at the controls. Fantastic presentation of a marvellous, truly deluxe edition! *Oddly enough, I "just" wrote this below about The Stooges and Funhouse last night (on SOT) in selecting band and best album. Seems fitting to post it here: THE STOOGES (Funhouse, 1970) Iggy Pop: the perfect, totally unbridled lunatic front-man for this unforgettable, incorrigibly violent, street level Detroit band. A song like "Down on The Street" says it all in this way. A primal, taunting riff matched to Iggy's animalistic grunts and shouts. The song's gotcha right there. But then the Iggster hits you with lyrical lines that are delivered with a certain kind of aloof swagger and "I don't give a shit what you think" chutzpah... There's no music quite like the Stooges, '69-'73 (esp of the loose, gritty "Fuck You, we're doing this!" Ilk, and the world of ROCK was a better place for it. "Gimmie Danger, little stranger.." Marc
Henry literally looks like a kid at Christmas un wrapping a playstion.
I like Henry a lot, he's a great guy, he sounds so cool here about this Deluxe edition
This makes me happy
Mate we need more of Henry unboxing
I love this man.
This is what many of us were like when we peeled off that shrink wrap back then. The covers were works of art in themselves.
God i love Henry.
Cant think of a better fan to unbox this than Henry. Beautiful box too. The whole album cut at 45 rpm ? That will sound thick or full. Gotta hear it!
Brilliant. Thanks Henry! Depending on what day it is, this is my favorite effort by The Stooges”. Of course there is the 1st and, imho most psychedelic/Garage influenced with the Stooges patented aggro making this a stand out amongst its contemporary records of the era, then, the masterpiece in question, “Funhouse” The free form, Miles Davis, Jazz influenced effort with the same Stooges stamp of aggression, and “Raw Power” I loved Ronnies guitar work,(especially on “Funhouse”) however, James Williamson influence upon the way every hard rocker would attack the guitar after 1973, is too often, but should not be be understated, hence, I’d have to give Raw Power the most “Metal” sounding, with the punk spirit being the obvious approach (although Iggy doesn’t like being considered punk)I think he likes punk but he really is his own creation. He heavily influenced punk, but also metal and grunge as well so........ anyways, who cares, right?!?! If it rocks, it rocks, definitely gonna get this......
@leahflower9924

I think raw power sounded most punk I still like the first two albums more
@ECNIV2000
2 жыл бұрын
@@leahflower9924 that’s cool! I could discuss all three of these, and all 3 of the MC5’s L.P efforts, for hours because they all had a different theme. I’d think it’s hard to argue the psychedelic aspect to the Stooges debut, album, lots of “wah” on Ronnie’s guitar, and “Fuzz” for the leads. Then “Funhouse” is a mixture. The first 4, tracks, plus “1970” on “Funhouse” are pure, 100% “proto”punk at its finest, but the rest has a free form punk jazz thing going on this one, Steve Mackay’s sax playing was brilliant. Speaking of Raw Power, I’m sure you are old enough to remember the Bowie mix, which, other than the sound engineer blending Ronnie’s bass in with the James’s guitar too much, and putting way too much midrange over the final mix, isn’t as bad as it gets a rep for, that’s what that should have sounded like in 1973! I can respect those who think Raw Power would have its metal influences as well, James shreds pretty much all over the album, (which is about 12 years before it “shredding” was commonly used as a style of taking a guitar solo) which is cool, and it’s what I think Cheetah Chrome and Robert Quine were brilliant at, even if Robert was more “avant gard” and Cheetah was more “rootsy” Cheers Leah!
I used to sing some songs of this álbum live in 1976/1979...and still...I FEEL ALRIGHT!😉👍
