The step back turn / pivot turn // How to SUP videos

Спорт

The Step Back Turn is a really useful, fast turn to master. Whether on a race board or surf SUP, it's a great turning method to get you quickly around those race buoys or infront of that fast approaching wave. It takes a bit of practice and you’re likely to get wet when you first try, but it's well worth the effort.

    OK... Crazy question, but I've never seen "my turns" anwhere, so I'm asking.... For my part, I stay in the middle of my board, put a huge outside "backward" paddling on the side I am, like a big "C" shape (it stops the forward glide and start the rotation, and then, I change side and give the same "big one C mirrored" in order to finish my turn and start gliding in the opposite side) A kinda what we did when I was rowing and we have to go back. Am I crazy ?

  • @SUPboardermag

    @SUPboardermag

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hey Sarah, There's no wrong or right when it comes to paddleboarding. If your turn works for you, great. But the problem with doing any sort of backward paddling during a turn is, if you go into the turn at speed you're not using that forward momentum you've made to help you do the turn. The type of turn your talking about does get used in many race events too. But when you get the hang of the Stepback turn it will be faster for sure. Also remember when you join SUPboarderPro you can send us your videos to be analyzed by our experts to help you get the most out of your paddling. www.supboardermag.com/2018/01/05/get-involved-new-supboarder-pro-video-breakdowns/
