Apple inexplicably took away my Django Unchained. Refused me a refund. But I can purchase again if I wanted to. Last time I ever purchased a digital movie. You hit every single point with what is wrong with digital downloading versus physical media. Thank you and BRAVO!

Last time I bought a DVD was LotR (Peter Jackson, first movie). Bought it. Couple of weeks later they released another edition with more stuff in it. And then again another month later. I felt cheated. Started pirating back then. They can shove their "director's cuts" and "collector editions" where the sun don't shine, they'll never see another dollar from me. Come to think of it, physical media also has its scams.

We're living a dark age of media. That is why I haven't paid for any for the past ten years and change. Nice thing about pirated stuff : they can't censor it remotely. I'm waiting for the day, fast approaching, where every major entertainment company posts nothing but losses and goes under faster than the Kursk after trying to launch a torpedo. In the meantime, I have thousands of shows and movies from the 80's that I have yet to watch, so I'll be perfectly fine.

It's too bad we live in these times where we have to hang back to see if what is delivered is promised. The utility of your console always tied to the internet has been hijacked by those who want to pump out content regardless if it's broken. With the side of propaganda and censorship, of course.

The physical copy works, but you need to play it offline, even if all the updates are stopped, Sony is auto-pushing the update not caring about your settings... I'll never get a console again... on PC I have control over my files but on console...

Somewhat interesting insight marred by more DEI boogeyman nonsense. Tell me, why do you blame DEI for what is ultimately a calculated decision by Corpos who just want to maximize profits? Many of these same corporations has lightened darker characters in Asian markets, or flatout removed them.

As an American I can only speak on what I see corporations do in Asian markets. For example, Finn getting demonstrably smaller and bluer on the Chinese posters for Star Wars The Force Awaken. DEI councils have no input into what happens in overseas markets but they do have a major influence over companies and how they conduct business in the US. I have seen DEI councils work first hand, it is message over costumer satisfaction every time. Costumer satisfaction = profits.

@@CopaExMachina If this was true, google would not have fired all the Anti-Israel protestors. Hollywood would not blacklist anyone that stands up against Israel, and the New York times would not target Muslims as possible leakers of New York times suppressing news about the war. Furthermore, we would also see more outrage against bigotry that occurs in China (as they do with other nations) but mums the word as that a massive money market. Ever wonder why we get zero games centered in Africa or Latin America based on a perspective from people that are in those cultures? The moment that money gets challenged, or they think money would not be made, all this DEI talk is the first thing to get thrown out. All I really think all this stuff is, is that a marketing team determined that consumers as a whole are drawn to the shallow appearance of "diversity, equity and inclusion" because it makes many consumers feel like the product was made with their taste in mind, and since demographic change is changing the audience, they need to make a low effort connection to them. The "message" is the most basic thing imaginable aswell.

@@HighKnighter DEI is very much apart of marketing yes. They are more like the propaganda wing. DEI councils have a lot of pull in how a company does business in North America. Here's why, let's say a company wants to dismantle a DEI council. Now the DEI council turns on the company. They take to social media expressing just how racist their former company was. Maybe it falls on def ears...and then again, maybe it doesn't. Maybe it goes viral. This might hurt your profits more than if you just did what the council told you. I watched first hand how just the discussion of terminating a DEI council started to turn real ugly, real fast until the company backed off.

@@CopaExMachina You ignored the first part of my argument, alright. The second is a hypothetical scenario in which an advisory council use social pressure to force a corporation to ensure its own survival. Not only have I not seen a single case study regarding this phenomon occurring with DEI, the most comparable situtions (Google recent firing, the new york times, more) resulted in these people getting kicked out immediately to celebration. I'm bored at work but not enough to keep beating this dead horse. You don't have any tangible examples of what you are describing and just relying on fear mongering.
