This is so classically early 2000’s pop-punk when everyone was trying to mimic Blink! Brought me back to High School immediately
It’s interesting to think and talk about the thematic rationale for name dropping this band and this song, and how it relates to the themes on Taylor’s album on the whole. It’s a very smart reference that does a lot of work in three words
I’m a Gen-xer and was in my 20s when this came out. I loved it then and now when I hear it so many memories flood my brain which leads to goosebumps and tears. An incredible song.

This is so classic early 2000s pop punk. I know Taylor is big fan of the genre, so I was so happy to hear her reference it in The Black Dog. The Boys Like Girls song you were looking for is The Great Escape You should react to Boys Like Girls ft Taylor Swift!
This band seems so Blink 182 to me. I’m GenX who loves 90s music, so I can’t believe I missed the Starting Line. I even wonder if this inspired the Foo Fighters’ Best of Me a little bit.
