The Stars and Stripes Forever - With Lyrics
Музыка
The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus perform John Philip Sousa's most famous march, The Stars and Stripes Forever. To see the lyrics please turn on your closed captioning starting at 1:04.
Hurrah for the flag of the free!
May it wave as our standard forever.
The gem of the land and the sea,
The banner of the right!
Let tyrants remember the day
When our fathers, with mighty endeavor,
Proclaimed as they marched to the fray
That by their might and by their right
It waves forever!

Yup, Sousa write them himself. You can images find manuscripts online; I know Library of Congress has them. I think there's also a well-recognized version that adds lyrics for four parts and the other sections of the song. I know I'm late, but I hope you still find this intriguing.

Why is a "piccolo quintet" playing with accompaniment called a "piccolo solo"? What is the American meaning of the word "SOLO"?
You people are so lucky to have selected music as your profession in the Military. I played the Clarinet and Saxophone sense the 4th grade, and all through High School. When I went in the Navy during the Viet Nam war, I never thought of trying for the band. I became a Aircraft Mechanic instead. I stayed in for 13 years but was given an early out because the war ended. Now I'm almost 70 years old and still have the Horns. My Clarinet was given to me from my Uncle who was in the Army band during WW2 and the Korean conflict. He later had his own Band after getting out and played night clubs for years. I played a couple of shows with him. That was fun. I don't know why, but, I stopped playing the Clarinet after I came home and never picked it up until this year. Now after 38 years, I forgot how to do the fingering in the higher register and don't seem to have the wind as I used to. But after seeing your Clarinet player play softly, I decided to teach myself again and just play softly. I was so grateful to watch your beginners video, because it gave me the fire to want to play again. Thank you and God Bless.

What a great story Robert, thanks for sharing. Playing music is a life long journey and it's never too late to get back into it. Glad we have inspired you to pick the horn back up! It is never to late to go back to playing. I had not played in 29 years and went to the local community band and I have never looked back. It is now my life! Check out local community bands and check out the New Horizons website for a band near you. New Horizons is all about getting back into playing. Take lessons if you have to to get started or just go and keep working on your own! I have band members well into their 80s and even some in their 90s!

Those piccolos were amazingly in tune. I've never heard multiple piccolos sound good together but that was FIVE and it was perfect. It's so easy to go out of tune on something so small because the slightest movement will change the pitch. Those players are very impressive.

MY PICC IS OUT!
Hurrah for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever, The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray That by their might and by their right It waves forever.

@@mestillme2017 many things in America are very flawed and need to be changed, but overall, America is the land of opportunity, loving America doesn’t mean accepting the status quo, Thomas Jefferson once said “dissent is the greatest form of patriotism”.
MY FAVORITE AMERICAN ANTHEM !!!! A GRAND PEFORMANCE, THANKS !!!
This video has the bast of both worlds. That amazing piccolo solo and a chorus

Yes US has no culture its culture is a copy of the rest of the world 244 years of history ( I am counting since 1776 earlier you were not a nation but British Colony) compared to my country's Poland 1000 years. Bitch plz. You dont even come close to entire Europe knee caps here with history.
