In retrospect yes. Though when it came out, in addition to it being poorly advertised, I didn’t particularly like it. Far too much of a tonal shift in regards to the humour of the old series being completely absent. And I just could not stand Eli as a character. Call me paranoid but it’s almost like the writers were trying to insert of parody of what they through the average fan of Stargate was. A fat overweight unemployed college dropout who plays video games in his mom’s basement. It felt mean spirited. And the idea that the US government would just make him aware of the most classified military project in history that could literally bring down the government if it got out because he beet a video game puzzle was…well let’s just say it broke my suspension of disbelief before the first episode was even finished! Over time I have come to appreciate the series as an interesting addition. And the rest of the cast were interesting and well written. But I’m not terribly surprised it was cancelled, and wish we’d got a couple more seasons of Atlantis instead.

Developing frigate or destroyer class Tauri ships to act as support vessels for the BC-304's would be the next logical step.

Yes, but if they start doing that, they would create less BC-304s and what Earth needed were more of those to protect themselves and expand. I can't see Earth making other kind of ships unless other countries start to make them, and the more countries do, the bigger the risk of information being leak to the masses. But yeah, I would have liked to smaller destroyers and frigates and maybe bigger battleships and carriers. But then again, this is the Stargate Universe (not the series), where every advanced civilization has only one class of capital ships capable of battle (or two if you are the Asgard or Pegasus Replicators)

I wonder what kind of society would be created as a result of all these advancements. Unless the USA and other nations were able to keep a tight grip on all the tech, it would get out and Earth society would change.

Video straight up skipped the genesis of the 302 fighters, and arguably their first real battle test in Fallen. The 302 were a significant step above the 301, they were fully Tau'ri designed and the first Tau'ri vessel with a hyperdrive they were technically the Tau'ri's first interstellar craft, even if their hyperdrive ultimately failed for the exact same reasons that the 303/Prometheus' first hyperdrive failed.

The show applied "Naval Hollywood logic" to the ships which was outdated as soon as it was launched. I understand that the budget was limited and you can only do so much. The ships were utilitarian and very much the result of the military industrial complex. In the series seeing the inside of other races star ships it would be clear how many mistakes in design was made. The materials utilized lacking and the over all capabilities being lack luster. With all the technology from the other "baddies" in the series it would be clear that technology would take a massive leap forward and ships would never be the same. For example the Wriath ships were organic and now SGC could simply "grow ships" in whole or part. Replicator ships which were constructed and or highly modified in hours or days. Asguard ships that were incredibly fast and powerful using shield and weapon tech beyond most others and finally the Ori whos ships were bulky but employed a powerful beam weapon and strong shields while transporting a massive military force. What NEW STARGATE ships will be is a incredibly scary Space dominance vessel that makes everything else obsolete.

The Gou'uld still pretty much are the base line of SG1 Reverse technology makes sense as they are also the least advanced with the Wraith likely below them. Much of the tech they had ended up being reverse engineered by the Tau'ri which would help them quite a bit in the creation of the future Tau'ri fleet. its also likely Goa'uld tech is the basis of the technological leap of Tau'ri's conventional weapons tech from Na'qui nuclear tipped weapons, and rail gun systems. Early energy source systems as well. The Waith Ships were grown. Cool that has several applications but throughout SG1-Atlantis we constantly saw Wraith vessels being torn apart by Tau'ri ships. Apparently Grown ships are not that well armoured against a conventional shell much less against a beam lance. Think the advantage the Wraith had with them was the ships could self heal and I think they had a reasonable rate of replacement, at least for the smaller vessels. For the Tau'ri bio-tech likely served nothing for construction of ships but could have applications for medical and or perhaps creation of settlements and colonies (growing your own home perhaps?) I could however see Wraith bio-tech being a hit with enemies of the Tau'ri such as certain pirate groups or criminal organizations. The Replicators however.. Now that has many applications as they are essentially just nano-bots that can be used to not only replicate themselves but also construct new items extremely quickly. They proven that through the whole series. Replicator tech is a massive technological advantage. However they run the risk of programming error, self sentience and or basically running amok (grey goo situation) Well they do have many applications, even SG1 saw them as just to dangerous and that included trying to acquire the tech. (Essentially they are like the borg from ST, potentially extremely useful tech but using it has major serious risk) Of course assuming the Tau'ri convention homegrown tech continues they likely gain technology such as 3D printing which likely would have enormous applications in cutting time in construction, plus its not being done by a program that could turn homicidal. Asgaurd tech is way above and beyond most knowledge of the Tau'ri most of the weapons that Tau'ri were given that works usually had a Asguardian along with it to supervise, that being said we do know the Asgaurd made efforts to make some of their tech workable and its likely the Tau'ri made great strides in replication of a poor mans version of Asgardian tech (Trust me its still likely superior to anything else the galaxy has) after they went extinct and left the Tau'ri all the knowledge they had. Infact I believe by SG1 Universe Asgard tech has started to largely replace goa'uld inspired tech with Asgard inspired tech. Ahh the Ori. They were the most advanced given they were essentially the ancients, the ships they had were comparable to Asgard ships, and at least 2 to 3 shots from the main gun could kill a shielded Tau'ri vessel. However I believe that much of that technology was heavily reliant on a Prior or Choosen individual on each ship. The Raw energy output they had was impressive but overall the ships themselves didn't really offer much other than being very ornate, and I have a suspicion much of the tech they did had was so far out there that even the Tau'ri and the Asgard (before extinction) likely couldn't begin to reverse engineer much of it. Also these were likely the dumbed down version of their tech in order for the ORI's conscripts to functionally use correctly.

Its not really the tau'ri fleet is it. Its the USA airforce in space and they were not very forthcoming to the public or the other nations (even their allies) about the tech they gained.
