As I laid down to sleep after editing this episode, it dawned on me. I believe we may have skipped over the Target exclusive Shadow Squadron set! Since it's a blue line release and we had already moved on to red/black boxes, it just didn't cross my mind when covering the "exclusives of 2015." If we did indeed miss covering this set in our 11 videos so far, we'll be sure to correct this in a future episode. Our apologies! Exclusives used to piss me off back-in-the-day. Not so much now. Speaking of K-Mart nostalgia, remember the popcorn you could get in a bag as long as your arm? Popcorn has no business being in a bag that big. But it was good and you could smell it as soon as you entered the door.

Ill never forget the feeling when I found the WM Ex Shock Trooper on the shelf a whole case fresh!!! I loved that box design and finding one in the wild for $19.99 was crazy. This was when nothing was hardly ever on shelves so it was like a shining beacon sitting there!

Absolutely love the history of this line now. I want the bloody lot!! These exclusives you are showing here are so much more expensive in Englandlandlandshire...😢 I really want purple helmet Vader, but he's consistently around 60 quid here. There is no hope of getting any of the multi-pacs cheap, either. I got the Imp 4 pac for around 80, but that was cheap on uk ebay. My Stormtrooper evolution set was 100, the Clone 4 pac, 120 and my Guardians of Evil, 120 as well. I basically consider those decent prices here.

Hello David I've also paid a bit for some 4 packs. I've got the Clone - Stormtrooper evolution set for about $70 I think from Amazon. The Imperial forces Sand Trooper, Red Stormtrooper, Tie Officer, and R2-Q5. I actually got an R2-Q5 single and the Red Stormtrooper separately because the 4 pack was expensive, but I eventually got the set. I think I paid $100 for this one.

@@davidedge2828 yeah those R2 and R5 packs are very pricey now. I think I paid about $45 or $50 for each on eBay about 6 years ago if I remember correctly. That's when I was just picking up a few droids and aliens. I think I saw one of the droid packs on BBTS for about $100 US. I don't know if they ship to Europe or what they'd charge.

It’s all a blur now. I still have all of those. I think what I remember most is the hunt. Many were opportunities in store. Going in and out of Walgreens, Walmart, Toys R Us, etc was a lot of exercise. I was going to TRU regularly but adding Walgreens was new. Walmart was also a familiar hunt zone thanks to Marvel Legends mostly. I remember finding those Spider-Man Classics figures around the time of the film and was the gateway into Legends. Before then 5” reigned supreme. Star Wars was a continuing 3 3/4” product. Those early more articulated Black Series figures looked sharp in their packaging and delivered some wonderful toys. Of course toys cost like $4-6 a figure back then. So it didn’t break the bank. Strolling up the register with 10 figures was normal. There wasn’t unboxings. They were mint on card. The duplicate you bought was your play/fidget thing. So much plastic fun.

Yep that's what I remember most, the hunt. Especially Walgreens. I jumped into the line just when blue line was phasing out. Caught up on all the blue line figures by hitting up like every single Walgreens in my area! Fun times. -Justin

Good Figgy God...seeing all these again brings back flashbacks, A few really good most not so much 💀. Wasn't the royal gaurds 4 pack in 2015 as well, or was that later? Anyone who thinks the line is Bad currently needs be buried with all these red box figs from that era!! Fun rundown of the deluxe figs from 9 years ago....holy shit my dudes we have been collecting this line for over a decade now....INSANE

Great video, guys! Most of these are not in my collection - and I'm fine with that. Being almost 10 years old, they really don't look that great. I did find the Shocktrooper at Gamestop - that's a pretty cool figure. I am happy to have secured the trooper 4-pack for 60 bucks (thanks for the shout-out!). I've almost pulled the trigger on the Imperial Forces set - however, I don't really want anymore 'out-of-scale' astromechs on the shelf. It's kinda funny (and sad at the same time), but about 6 or 7 miles away from me, there is still a 'shell' of a Toys R Us. The building is still there, the sign is still there, but it's totally empty.

Hello Nate and Justin. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the difficult journey of collecting Black Series exclusive figures in the early years. I think I was still at least a year away from collecting Black Series Figures at this time. When I started black series figures I was just getting droids and some alien figures I wanted. I didn't go all in till after the Solo movie figures were on clearance, my friend got me the Lando figure from the Solo movie. Please cover the blue line Target exclusive Stealth Scout Trooper and Stormtrooper with Speeder Bike. That is a set I wish I could get at an affordable price. I was looking forward to that rerelease that still hasn't happened and probably never will. 😢 Thanks again guys for taking the time to put this video together for us, I appreciate it. What an absolute banging episode!! ❤❤ MEXICAN 4 PAC, MEXICAN 4 PAC..... MEEEXXXICANN FOUR PACK!!!! THE ONE, THE ONLY..... MEXICAN 4 PACK!! I WILL have this one day!! Technically, this is not the most expensive Black Series item they actually produced a run of... 😮😮😮 We obviously cannot count the prototype Rancor (RIP) and x-wing, as they are single pieces, but "The bro" did produce a limited run of a white prototype Chewbaccas in a presentation box as a thank you gift for their efforts in producing this line for a few hundred employees. I think this was between 200-500? so there is a very small chance a truly dedicated collector may be able to get one.

The Mexico Walmart exclusive is completely off of my radar. Way too expensive for my collection and slave Leia is the only figure I need from that set. She just looks so terrible and is way too short. I could just see Luke saying "Aren't you too short to be a Jabba dancer ?"

The Shocktrooper was the first figure in the line I bought off eBay. I got it for just over retail, but I never once saw it in stores. I remember it being a surprise release. There was no news, it just got released out of nowhere.

This time was HELL! Being from the UK it was even worse. We couldn’t access a lot of exclusives let alone get a crack at the lottery of finding them. I remember spending half my holiday (vacation 😂) in Orlando visiting every Walgreens for that Vader figure and they had none. Then hitting TRU to see what they had, considering the links to Disney Florida was shocking to find anything other than a couple of peg warmers. I ended up buying Vader for twice the price from a comic book store there in the end. Funny thing is it seems to swung the other way now. Exclusives that sold out USA hang around for longer in the UK now and all are readily available all under one fan channel website and/or pulse.

Opened the Supra Battle Droid this morning and it is absolutely f÷÷king fantastic!!! Never even particularly wanted one, even though I knew loads of people were desperate for it. Can't stop fiddling with it... Brilliant! I shall now eat a massive portion of "humble pie" until I vomit, then apologise for being so wrong! 😅 Cannot believe how much character this figure has, when it's essentially a bit grey and bland...It's somehow a bloody masterpiece. I now need about 6 of the single releases and they need to hurry up with them.

I finally got Plo yesterday as well to go with my recent Oridgge Padme, Mullet Obi, Paddy Ani and Fisty. Opened plain and yellow Oridgge clones, put a stripped down R-chive yoda in, bunged a new r2 with 3.75 leg boosters clipped on him and added sbd, b1 3p0, Oridgge Mace, aayla, 3 2020 ph1 clones, dooky, mango jango, 1 cream b1, 1 heavy bd and 4 geode-noses b1's, then blue ph1 clone and 4 ko ph1 clones, 2 red 2 green onto my breakfast bar to finally give me an actual aotc figure array!! First time I could do this in 9 years of collecting and I have to admit, they look absolutely brilliant together!!!

I found a black series 3.75 new darth plagueis orange stripe , got it for 42 bucks from a collector that lives in my area, that needed to offload most of his figures , he had two new plagueis figures , in his collection, I got lucky, he just needed cash, it’s kinda funny for The reason. I bring it up is cause I mentioned wanting hasbro to archive this figure into a 6” ie 1/12 but yal didn’t think their was a black series plagueis, heh I was told I was living in a different dimension, which I love you guys your great, I still learn stuff from you two , but you learn something new everyday 😊

I think you're misunderstood, my friend. We never said there wasn't a Black Series 3.75" Plagueis. We have always been aware of the 3.75" Black Series figures. You mentioned Archiving the Black Series Plagueis and that would never happen because that was a completely different line. If they did Plagueis today, it'd involve new or existing 1/12 Black Series tooling. When people refer to Black Series they are almost always referring to the 1/12th line. -Justin

My favorites out of this list definitely include the Snow trooper commander and the Shock Trooper. Honorable mention goes to the Imperial 4 pack. It’s crazy to think some believe that now is worse in terms of exclusivity. But boy; have they got no clue what it was like in the dark ages. Great to see the comeback of the retrospective. Can’t wait for the next ep of FIO!!!!

I was a little worried people were gonna take it the wrong way. Sure, the # of yearly exclusives is higher today. But we also get significantly more releases in general. Plus modern exclusives are infinitely easier to get today compared to back then. Thanks for checking out the episode! -Justin

This is the period of time where I really struggled at where I was collecting! I was really missing out on a lot of good stuff often and got frustrated with the flood of second market pricing at its peak! But I also remember fondly when I scored big. Exclusives were pain in here smaller countrys in Europe. Target, Walmart, Walgreen never came here and Gamestops started to close down all around. You just had to hope some places like Zavvi got some exclusives. Now with Pulse shipping to all of EU things are way better here too. They get most of exclusives there like that 501st/332nd clone pack and Windu/187th clone pack

It is so funny I thought star wars black series was just a short lived gimmick line & thought it would die off,I got boba & luke in 2015, i was collecting some horror neca & Macfarlane figs & diamond select stuff back then, & I think It was 2017-18 that the black series line started to step up & get better & better,fast forward to today,I have like 250+ or more because i army build some black series figs now,maybe too much,i am at 21 2020 stormtroopers lol ,it is crazy,i still want to call myself a reluctant collector but the line is getting better & better, sculped, articalultion & shelf presence is crazy good,great show as always

One thing to add that people lose sight of now; look at all of the exclusives back then that wound up being reuse with simple deco changes. People bash it so much now. It’s always been around. It always will be. But I’ll just be happy if they do reuse with in content characters.

Oh 100%! Should've pointed that out in the video as well. Exclusives (Walmart, Target, GameStop, Amazon, etc.) are almost always repaints or an otherwise high amount of reuse. Why would we, the collectors, want exclusives to be new sculpts of highly desirable characters?!? Seems insane to me. -Justin

I told myself I wasn’t going to buy black series when they 1st came out because I knew I would eventually have to buy everything. Fast forward to the force awakens and my now wife bought me Rey Kylo and Finn and it’s been downhill for my wallet every since. I am probably missing like less then 10 figures all together lol. So I understand the feelings you have for the Toys r us snow trooper.

I remember Phase One Clones, Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids, Obi Bitch, Winey Ani, 8 years old Boba, Hangover Jango, Mace Spray Windu, Yodeling Yoda, Darth Tyranes, Trade Feds, Banking Guilders, Geo Insectoids, Tuskies camping out, Smelly Jawas, Pole Climbing Padme, Scratch and Sniff Dexter and his one wheel Dingbot, and a bunch of dead Jedi. I think that's everyone. 😂 Almost forgot those lousy Lars family that lost Shime and the scrap metal C-3P0 and R2-D2, Ok now I'm done, I think 🤔

I think exclusives not being good figures is a good thing, unlike in thw U.S. we international fans don't have Targets, Real Walmarts, wallgreens and others, we missed out on Veers, jedi legend Obi Wan and clone commandee Obi wan, getting the clone wars set was a challenge in and off itself too, don't even get me started on Fan channel figures and The two packs we do get them, but overpriced as hell.

@@OutOfTheBasement actually i'm from Chile in south america, we used to get black series in retail regularly, specially in our version of walmart called lider but it has conssitently gotten harder to get figures in general, comic book stores here sell star wars figures on average of $35 dollars in CLP

haven’t watched the full video yet so apologies if it comes up later but one of the things i hate about the exclusives is how so many of them are american only. if your country doesn’t have a gamestop, you can’t get that figure.

It depends on the country. Canada and the UK seem to have no problems getting US retailer exclusive figures. -Justin

Haha when there are new reveals, announcements, Black Series news, rumors, etc. That stuff takes priority when it comes to Figure It Out. That's just how it is! Thanks for watching though. Take care! -Justin

@@OutOfTheBasement Laughed out loud at that J!! 🤣 Nate spreading his plastic virus around, infecting the innocent!! I left Finn in the supermarket for a week. I saw him, liked it, but thought he was "massive!!" Didn't look like he'd go with any other sw stuff I had. 🤔 Like buying a giant compared to 3.75. I saw him again a week later, and couldn't resist that sweet, sweet removable helmet and the incredible John Boyega likeness!! It was all downhill from there!!

I don't know if I'd go that far, but they aren't 100% needed in the collection. I can agree with that. -Justin

AS a long time collector, I've now abandoned the Black Series in favour of sticking with TVC 1/18th scale figs and vehicles. The combination of the Black Series having too many Exclusives, the continual hike in prices, too many characters I do not care about, too many repaints & less OT / Prequel figures = I'm out. Currently selling down my BS collection noting that I can't even GIVE AWAY my Sequel figures, the movies sucked, the figures suck more.

Funny you say that because they have FINALLY started to turn things around with prequel era representation. The new Anakin, Padme, Super Battle Droid, Destroyer Droid, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura came out last year, they're doing plenty of prequel era clone troopers, Darth Sidious is coming soon, etc. Prequel fans are actually eating rather well these days with Black Series. For OT at the very least we have Hammerhead coming. I'm glad for that. I do want more OT though for sure. If anything I'd argue that the TVC price hikes have been just as bad. -Justin
