Lets be honest. This is the best GM in NBA history. Tim Duncan was a given to go first. Then u pick Parker ok you can say its luck for a guy like that late in the 1st, then we bring ginobili over again u can say its lucky, fast forward he flips George hill for kawhi Leonard and davis bertans. at that point its not luck anymore. Even before that They bring in Danny green and patty mills 2 guys throw away from their original teams. and now they turn all these late 20 picks Kyle Anderson, Dejounte murray derrick white etc. into actual nba players.

first name Pop just disagrees with the mandatory interviews during and after every game, nothing personal towards the interviewer. And I think players like Kawhi who don’t want to get with the program of practicing day in and day out, summer leagues etc. don’t want to play for Pop. The team/plan works when everyone is on the same page. You can’t expect the bench to get better by not practicing with the starters.

Until they alienated their star talent by throwing shots instead of recognizing its the fault of the medical team and to trust their talent. Any other organization trusts the player in that situation when they have a talent of that caliber. But the old archaic Spurs were too stubborn to accept they were in the wrong and do whatever it takes to keep Kawhi commited to SAS, and now the Raptors are champions and Spurs got first rounded.

@@ImAviex I don't buy it. Kawhi was headed towards a max deal this summer with the Spurs where he would be committed to at least a 250 million dollar contract. That's a quarter billion dollar long term investment that can sink the organization for years if it goes bad. Think Derrick Rose and the Bulls. You're committing the bulk of your cash to a single player so it needs to play out right. So knowing that, you're telling me that the Spurs medical staff was rushing Kawhi out to the court knowing that he was hurt? They've historically never done that to any Spurs player and they would especially NEVER do that in this case knowing the upcoming investment. No, the truth is Kawhi wanted to leave San Antonio and head towards Los Angeles. He did not want to sign long-term in San Antonio which is cool since it's his life but the way he used this injury to force his way out was what soured the relationship with the Spurs. For whatever reason, he was never man enough to tell the Spurs that he wanted to leave for LA. He used this injury as his way out.

Nebula . Not to mention, Kawhi was hobbling and limping throughout the finals, so clearly the old injury was flaring up from all the stress of playing every game in the playoffs. And with what happened to KD, getting such a devastating reinjury after rushing back onto the court, Kawhi refusing to play until healthy looks like the right decision.

Spurs' organization invested on player development since they can't rely on free agency and getting top picks. Pop is a genius in getting the best out of players and RC is genius at scouting talent. After identifying a player their development program turn these players into professional athletes. They use their G-league affiliate team to hone and improve their skills to make them ready for the NBA. This is the reason why they continue to produce quality players because they develop them. Spurs is vital to the NBA. The league markets superstars. The Spurs provide the role players even the coaching & front office structure to stabilize the league. A team which relies on marketability and stars like the Knicks and Lakers is always geared to landing a top free agent or a draft pick forgetting that you need a strong supporting cast & structure around them. This is what Golden State has achieved but soon it would end the moment KD leaves. All that star power is just too damn expensive with no money left to give for quality role players.

Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard, Davis Bertans, George Hill, Corey Joseph, Jonathan Simmons, Kyle Anderson, Boban Marjanovic, Dejontey Murray, Brent Forbes and now Derrick White all have in common, INTELLIGENCE OVER ATHLETICISM, HARDWORKING, FEARLESS, AND TEAM FIRST ATTITUDE, even though many are no longer with Spurs, they are making millions in other teams, they owe a lot to this man.

Surprised the draft day trade for Kawhi wasn’t even mentioned. Especially considering they swapped a previous draft gem George Hill for him. Kyle Anderson got overpaid by Mem before he could really start being a big time guy for them as well.

What they do is relatively "simple". They have a very specific system and developmental program. They pick players PRIMARILY based on the mental attributes and skills to fit that system. Work ethic, lack of ego, good shooting mechanics, defensive aggressiveness, playing basketball within a system offence. And they develop it further. That's only comes with continuity and stability. A new GM/head-coach will pick anyone who think has the most talent as they want immediate results.

ISLAMAREBAD, FAKESTAN , we draft on potential. Based on his international performance Marc would've been a good draft and stash player coming from the second round. When they drafted Kyle, he was the best player available according to them.

To be honest, I can't really understand majority of Pop's picks, even I've been watching this franchise for almost 20 years. Those low picks always surprise me. Derrick White is a good example. Manu is still the biggest surprise. But I knew Tony would end up as an all star one day when I watched him the first year tho. Kawhi, I knew him would be absolutely an all star but never thought he would be so great as he is now. Time flies by. I watched Tony and Manu entered the league, now Manu is already retired and Tony playing for another team. Watching Tony wearing the jersey of another team is really heartbreaking.

One thing among all the spurs’ unsung players by the nba is that they all have pretty good fundamentals, ex. Good Shooting form, solid mid-range, consistent defense and decent passing skills. Furthermore, they are all team players and humble guys
