The best thing you can do is a HL air box lid swap. There’s some modifying you’ll have to do to make it work but it’s fairly simple. The steel lid and bracket bolt together and uses a rubber gasket. I had to make a cut out for the snorkel dual intake manifold to go on top of bracket. Never had a drop of water get in after that. I’ve sold the 850 a year ago I’ll see if I have any pics of it

What I use to seal my air box lid is RVT make sure u use lots of it. Also make sure the drain on the intake tub on the right side it tight. Do forget to dielectric grease the plugs and boots then the coil pack with need some too. There is a plug under the coil pack that will need some as well. Don't forget to RVT the air sensor on the upper right side of the air box. It's just goingbto be trail and error since u are new to popo.

I just got a 2023 850 and 6 miles on it the throttle sensor was bad and died on me. It’s fixed now. I love it still hopefully you keep the Polaris rocking need more Polaris peopled Out there so they know what issues they need to fix for future Models. Love the vids keep them coming

Right so annoying, especially after spending a stupid amount of money getting it snorkeled. And yea 100% lol

More then likely just got something wet and it shut it down. But my rubicon has shut off from running it hard then diving it in water. It's all about testing to see what and how the bike would react now time for troubleshooting, has nothing to do with it being a polaris. You'll get it man,great video!

You should change the oil a few times. I had to do the same when mine died like that. No water in the intake, but it floods in through the exhaust. Would love to get tips on what to do when that happens at the park, because it scares the hell out of me to get stranded like that if I'm alone.

You should get a rjwc air box lid they are way better than the stock ones. A gas cap too

The worst part of the video is... it ending. Keep up the work JP can't wait for many videos to come with the ole sportsman. Maybe get your girl a honda or something? She can use it as the film rig!

You need to get a good air box gasket !! A bit of water probably got in around the foam gasket

Group ride out looked so fun

I have a sportsman 800 and a 2019 can-am I love them both but the can-am left me stranded as well as the Polaris so honestly just drive what you like, they all have problems

I replaced my motor a few months ago doing this same thing lol. Water got in there. My oil turned gray a bit though. Little white smoke then the chimney started lol.

The quad will be fine and it’s not smoke coming out of your exhaust it’s just vapour from the tiny bit of water that was in your exhaust when it shut off

Ya same. My polaris buddys can never get through a ride without electrical issues it seems.. Always something or other…. Can Ams are just better quality build and so much power. Especially low end grunt. Currently riding a 2019XMR 1000R. So much fun. Mostly do mud riding but also some hunting trails etc. Thinking of maybe trying a Susuki King or Yamaha Grizzly as a hunting only quad. Any experiences with pros/cons for them? Ive had Honda and their pretty good. Just so powerless…

Been motorsport riding for over 40 years. Only two brands never let me walk or get towed back to the truck. Honda and Polaris. I've owned everything that could be owned. They all have weak spots tho. Just sayin 🤷‍♂️

Same man I just traded my polaris sportsman 570 because it was having the same issue JP is having right now. I took all the plastic off and Dielectric grease everything and it would still cut off if I got it around any water. I recently got a can am outlander 570 cause of all the hype and I can honestly say I'd never go back. The performance is like night and day. I have a set of 27in mega mayhems that was on my polaris and it struggled to pull em needed clutch kit bad. Put the same tires on my can am but 28s and It pulls so much better than the polaris did. Idk polaris just feels cheap honestly

Honestly I love brayden price and stuff but I would much rather watch JPs videos he’s not annoying or fake also don’t just record in his back yard for money. He does it because he enjoys it and he goes to bad ass parks and meets new people and that’s why I love his channel so much! Your doing great keep it up.

heres a tric for everyone that washes thier own car truck or atv dirt bike whaterever first if ya have big chunks of mud knock those off this works excellent everytime turn the car wash knob to tire n wheel cleaner foam the whole thing down then simply turn it to wax do not rinse just wash n rinse it on wax and your done works everytime

It’s the spark plugs My highlifter did that so many times to me as soon as they got wet…. Got to dielectric geese them every other ride

Why do you go for 850 instead of the 1000? Any specific reason?

Your belt box got wet. If you haven’t sealed it go ahead and do so, love the 850 btw🤙🏾

Look into putting some dielectric grease in your plug wire boots, might have just gotten wet. Happens all the time.

I completely sunk mine with no snorkel and I flushed it with diesel and shot the water out the heads, but I checked the dip stick and the oil looked good but when I got home and pulled the drain plug it was full of water. So good thing I never started it and drained it and flushed it. But she runs like nothing happened

My 2002 450 foreman can be in cold water for 10 or little more then it what’s to shut off unless I hold the choke up but I live in Canada the water is vary cold in the beginning of summer that there is ice in every hole

People are hating on Polaris so much in this comment section. What they fail to realize is that when a hot engine comes in direct contact with a lot of cold water, it sometimes doesn’t like to run. SHOCKING! This didn’t happen just because it’s a Polaris; even Braydon Price’s can am outlander has cut if from the exact same thing multiple times. It happens, it’s not that big of a deal like everyone is saying. It’s not like the four wheeler blew up and everything thing on it fell apart. The thing started right back up and had no problems.

it can be as simple as not having any large items on your key ring, they cant get bound up and whenever you turn the wheel it will shut the damn bike off !

Yo jp what are your thoughts on them tires you run on that thing?

@Jp Stephens I've got the stocker too. Cleaning up the tables really helped. The fan was set to kick in way too high also hinting at your shock theory.

Just a word of advice jp next time before you go on a ride take your spark plugs out and put a dab of dielectric grease on them love the vids man!!

so my nephew sports man does this thing if you thumb slap the throttle to fast in cold water itll die or even after you fire it up if i was you you get it tuned have them raise the idle up just a little to keep that from happening again

First off your Canam never cut off under water, second next time that happens lift the bike and drain water from tailpipe. That’s the minimum your supposed to do. Also your still wet behind the ears son you don’t know the basics. Can’t wait to meet up and teach you the basics son!

I still watch the videos, great videos still. I just don't get occupied by watching people talk, I would rather engage myself. I understand why you show what's all involved in making videos cause some people don't know how much work it actually takes also the environment your surrounded by, everyone helps out everyone and living life.
