An Odeon is an old timey word for cinema that comes from the Greek and Roman Ōideion which was an open area for sharing singing, musical shows, and poetry so a Nickelodeon quite literary means a Cinema for a Nickel

@@herculesbeetle You're focusing on the wrong thing. "Down Pat" is just an expression meaning you've got something ready. The actual joke is that Bumbles said he could "Quote" the episode by heart but "Reef Blowers" was an early episode with no dialogue.

This is one of those rare licensed games that was legitimately challenging because of its good level design, rather than being just a glitchy mess. Aside from the ring challenges, it was hard but still fair

This game is the Majora Mask of the SpongeBob games

I honestly think this man could make a 2 hour long video on paint drying filled with tangents about how paint was originally invented and I would eat that shit up. I've never once had any interest in the background of a channel on a dying medium, but I was thoroughly engaged as he went through it all. I cannot state enough the quality of these videos, absolutely one of, if not my absolute, favorite content creators.

Glad to see fellow Spongebob Movie fanatics that wrote college papers about the movies and prefer the movie game over BFBB. I remember renting it so many time as a child but never pieced together how to correctly upgrade nor proper Token hunt so I was perpetually stuck on like the second boss, but man, this takes me back.

I never actually play the game but let me tell you this movie was my everything. I cannot tell you how many times I've rewatched it, which could be cause for concern. I could probably quote most of the movie by memory and the fact I can't quote every single line yet is something I am ashamed of (once again, cause for concern).

As an avid enjoyer of both Heavy Iron Sponge games, it’s so NICE hearing someone sing the praises of the movie game instead of BfBB for once.

Ah, the SpongeBob Movie game. I knew someone who had this game, but the disk was scratched so they couldn’t get past the first Patty Wagon level. A shame, because I always wanted to see the levels past that.

So I fell asleep while watching this and woke to your MGR review. So thanks for the mental image of Monsoon talking about spongebob memes.

Bumbles talking about SpongeBob being cultural bedrock makes me realize SpongeBob is essentially a new generation's Simpsons in more ways than one.

After reviewing Chicken Little, the Burger King games, and now the SpongeBob Movie Game, I'm absolutely convinced that you are dead set on reviewing every game from my childhood. I look forward to your Cars review next :)

Fun Fact: I had the PC version of the Spongebob Movie Game, which is nothing like the console version! Instead, we got a point-and-click adventure in the vein of Monkey Island.

This and Battle for Bikini Bottom were bangers. I love the classic nicktoons games.

Kinda weird how that series was pretty much the biggest crossover the network ever attempted, you'd think they would've tried a movie or special of a bunch of their IPs but Unite was there real attempt at a grand crossover, the furthest they ever came in terms of animation was probably Jimmy Timmy which was only two shows. I remember playing a bunch of those games as a kid, the crossover aspect was actually really cool though I can't remember how the gameplay holds up. Also fun fact, Toybots and Globs Of Doom had their OSTs composed by Mick Gordon, the same guy who did the OSTs done for the Doom reboots.

Will I ever get over the fact that Battle for Bikini Bottom got a remake while Simpsons Hit and Run didn't? Maybe. Not any time soon, but maybe.

Wow it’s nice to finally meet someone who played this and not the “other one”

I still remember that joke combat arena in Planktopolis. It really got me when I got to it. I thought surely it was a trick and they were gonna bring out more as soon as I killed the jellyfish, but no.

I actually bought this game last year (along with Lights Camera Pants), and got most of the way through. Sadly, the disk was scratched, and while it managed to fight through the first crash point at the first slide level, it unfortunately can’t survive the crash point of the first Dennis fight. Thanks for letting me know what I’m missing, Bumbles. Now if only I can find the motivation to get around to finally playing Rehydrated. Also for the record, Truth or Square on Wii was my first SpongeBob game, along with Atlantis Squarepantis, and I enjoyed them both.

I've seen so many comments about people having scratched discs, it's crazy. Mine was scratched too, trying to play certain levels would crash the game. I also had Lights Camera Pants, but the disc was (you guessed it) scratched and unplayable.

@@strangejune Same thing happened with LCP for me, too. The first one was scratched, so I had to buy another copy online. And thankfully, this one wasn’t damaged.

This game's final boss theme shreds way harder than anyone would've expected. Genuinely slapping track of metal. Also HOW DARE YOU speak ill of my precious Cat Scratch, come Newts, we do not need such a foolish man who can't appreciate your beauty.

I have a very distinct memory of getting dropped off at a daycare place and always playing this game on a ps2, and never being able to beat the kart level, then coming back next week with my save data wiped

As a game dev its really really easy to tell that this game never made it to the polish phase. The fact that it's this good even with only a year to make it is really impressive!

The Spongebob plug and play where you controlled the game with Spongebob's nose. That was one of my first games ever. My first real game was the Spongebob movie game. Edit: Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. The first Spongebob movie was just so dang funny and good. You can't tell me you didn't sing "Now that we're men" at least once after seeing the movie.

I’m very happy you put this game in a good light, this was one of the first games I’ve ever owned and took me years to complete for being so young. I always return to this game every 2 or so years to do a single sitting, and I just finished it again a month ago in a stream with my friends. My personal comments on the game, those ring challenges were my bane as a child and still are. Their purpose is to prepare you for the macho challenge by showing you shortcuts but they sure have a tendency to cut corners to try and trip you up, especially on the slides. The ring challenge in sundae driving is absolutely the worst one from the length of it leaving tons of room for error and the threat of dying from the amount of hazards there are. And that rock slide macho challenge, there is a very very hard glitch that lets you skip a good portion where you attempt to jump to the last segment where you last see it, very finicky and risky. I share the same sentiments with you with the music, this games soundtrack is still something I listen to time to time, shell city dead ahead being my favorite. But to finish up I enjoy this game for being a pretty good challenge and I find it fun to return to for a quick run though. I owned a good amount of heavy irons licensed games and enjoyed all of them, Wall-E, Up, both of them were very enjoyable as a kid and I also visit those 2 every 2 years or so. I must say though, you impressed me how quickly you beat the last combat arena challenge

This game is great, and I will always remember it fondly... And it's one of the few that I could get right to the end, but never quite beat the final boss, alongside PacMan World 2.

Honestly the theme for the first phase of King Neptune is the most badass Spongebob will ever get, and when there's an episode that has a snippet of Pantera's "Death Rattle" in it, you know that says a LOT.

I too have leaf blowers down pat, here! (After Help Wanted finishes the episode card comes up with no breaks. The song Leef Blower - The Blue Hawaiians plays and the episode starts.) (Squidward comes out of his house and straightens his flower) (He looks at his perfectly clean lawn and stops when he finds a shell. Angry he goes and inspects it then acting casual he "accidently" kicks it to Spongebob's lawn.) (Spongebob opens the window squeezing out to see the shell on the lawn then goes and slides to the garage) (He is seen coming out of the garage with a Reef Blower turned on.) (Squidward is annoyed by this and plugs his ears so he can't hear). (Spongebob blows the shell but floats back down. He tries again but floats back down. He tries once more but takes some sand with him which lands on Squidward who is eating) (Spongebob notices this and rushes to help Squidward and blows the sand off him. He sees his lunch is turned into a leaf) (Spongebob picks the leaf up and blows it into Squidwards face which make his eyes water then blows into his eyes) (Spongebob finds a sand pile and the word You! come up) (He rushes to the pile and sets the machine to reverse and sucks the sand up) (His machine malfunctions and parts come out. He unzips and puts the parts back in while the Reef Blower is coughing then zips it up again). (Spongebob tries to pull the cord to work it but it fails. He tries again pulling it really really far.) (He lets go and it goes past a intersection where Fred and Halbert are driving, Then past some houses into the Reef Blower where Spongebob's house is.) (It sucks the entire of the sea causing Squidward to struggle to breath.) (The Reef Blower is huge and blows up filling the sea and adds sand to Squidwards lawn) (Spongebob comes out from one of the piles and smiles to his clean lawn as he goes into his house). (Squidward is shown with sand piles on him. The shell comes down and lands on his nose. He sighs and cuts to black) (The episodes finishes and commercial breaks begin)

I came for a nostalgia trip and I got some trivia fact from my favorite kid's channel from before my time. (Early 20s now. Spongebob was my life as a kid, haha) Love the channel, love the work!

I have not very fond memories when it comes to SpongeBob games, except Boating Bash for the Nintendo DS, and also playing a lil' bit the GBA versions of the Movie game and BFBB. and Squigglepants for Wii (Never played, but everytime i saw footage of that, i couldn't believe it.)

A very unusual thing, but nigh every South African born from 2002-2009, is EXTREMELY familiar with this game, because by far, the largest restaurant chain in the country, Spur, is a family restaurant with a play area in every location, indoors and outdoors occasionally as well. At ALL of them, there were 3 games that you could play. Ratchet:Deadlocked, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and this game. So for anyone who ever went to a Spur as a kid here from 2008-2014, which should encompass like a million people, we South Africans have likely played this game dozens of times

So. Funny story I still have my SpongeBob Movie Game and a few years ago, my brother and I cracked it and the PS2 out to replay it. Nostalgia and the fact we didn't beat it as kids Well, we took the next few days to casually play, have fun and just enjoy it all. We even broke a few personal records from long ago. Was an absolute blast ♡♡ And then King Neptune happened..... Up to this point we of course did relatively well. But for some unholy reason, that fight. That fight took I shit you not, 3 FUCKING HOURS!!! The first few deaths were as jokes. Us playing saying "oooh, he's SoOoO difficult!¡!". Well, for some reason it ended up WAY harder than it should have been for us to where we were taking 10 minute tag turns. My brother finally beat him, we cheered like lunatics and to this day, we still jokingly (and somewhat seriously) say King Neptune is *THE, hardest boss fight in all of gaming history ever And we wouldn't have it any other way ♡

Rip, I barely missed being old enough to be witness to the SLC UT hazard message. (I grew up on Nick and lived within an hour of SLC). Fortunately I did grow up with this game and a Spongebob plug-and-play that I still have sitting in a box 5 feet away from me.

BTW the spongebob movie game was actually the first ever spongebob game I actually played in my life besides atlantis squarepantis on the Nintendo DS and I never got to finish either of those but still had lots of fun and laughs.

I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this game for ages. I played it on the OG Xbox when I was a kid and could never beat it. I hope I find it someday so I can pop it in my Xbox One and do what kid me could never do: save Bikini Bottom!

At my last job, there was one guy and I who communicated almost entirely in SpongeBob references. Our coworkers got lost sometimes because they were either too old or were raised without spongeboy.

9:10 I believe someone actually found it wasn't a mop, but a pencil, that held the spongeboy name hostage. A pentech, company that put small bits of art on pencils, had a little character from a one panel gag comic called spongeboy on one of the pencils. I think the joke in the comic was something along the lines of "everyone new the fun in the pool was over when spongeboy showed up."

You know what Nick games I don't see that often on KZread? The Fairly OddParents games from this same era. I had Shadow Showdown as a kid. I don't remember anything about gameplay (not the best sign), but I do remember it having a really interesting aesthetic where you go into like different TV worlds or something? If I at least distinctly remember it getting the right aesthetic vibe it might be worth checking out for that I think. The Unite Games, Spongebob, and Neutron games tend to get covered, but the FOP ones don't, and if they do it's usually just Breakin Da Rules. I also grew up with only the Spongebob Movie game, and I think Shadow Showdown similarly was a second release game that just gets ignored in internet discussion. It could be a good theme within a theme. I have no hardcore nostalgia so if you end up having to rip into it like Chicken Little if you do it, I'd just be happy to see it covered at all.

Suprised you haven't covered No More Heroes yet. I mean your entire thumbnail style, ending and opening is definitely taking inspiration from them

I used to have the SpongeBob movie and it was quite fun, except that one cable riding level in the air fish house.

I always preferred this game to Battle for Bikini Bottom and I don't care what anyone says. Both games are phenomenal, but I prefer the separate challenges and the more linear levels (probably because Galaxy 1 is my favourite Mario game). Also the Final Boss theme Turn the tables, not the Goofy Goober Rock one) is got tier, Maybe even my favourite song in any game. And Please make a video about Avatar The Last Airbender this month, video game or not.

That whole gag about "40k or Spongebob" reminds me of how people realized that the plot of the DC event comic Final Crisis is weirdly similar to the Spongebob movie. They both kick off with a character being framed for a crime and imprisoned, they both have a villain obtain a formula they've been searching for, and then use that formula to control people through helmets, and they both have the main hero of the story leave the world behind and reach a higher plane of existence before returning and defeating the main villain with music.
