The Spongebob Chum Theory

a question i always have when watching spongebob is if the chum that plankton serves is fish, then doesn't that mean hes feeding the bikini bottom their own people? Well yeah...

I heard the actual Krabby Patties do contain chum, however, it’s different. Chum can also refer to chopped up veggies all smushed together. This definition isn’t as common as the one referring to shark food, so I can see why people could take it the wrong way. Plankton probably misinterpreted this and saw it as the more common definition of the word, so he used that instead of the chopped up veggies in the real recipe.

I mean to be fair if both Plankton and Mr. Krabs stories are to be trusted to some extent, especially given the similarities, then we know that at the very least, Eugene’s obsession with money is nowhere near as severe as it is as an adult. Couple this with other snippets of his past, involving him in the food industry being actually genuine, I can see how his story is more believable. As for how Karen could show the camera footage, who knows. Karen has done things behind Planktons back in order to help him steal the formula before, so it’s not entirely impossible to for her to fabricate camera footage somehow. Regardless of what you believe though, I think it’s really funny that the person defending Karen here is also named Karenfan010, lol. This is not meant to be a shot at you, just something funny I noticed.

Everyone already knows this, it's like common knowledge. But instead of me acting mean about it, I'll just appreciate it. You rarely get cartoons like this that care about the environment or world that it's building, SpongeBob could've easily been just a show that takes place underwater and that's it, but they went the extra mile and added a bit of an "educational" factor into the show, some of the stuff i know about Sea Critters is stuff that i learned in SpongeBob. And It really is inspiring! I even like to learn about animals in general and that way, maybe my cartoon can be more interesting knowing all the minor quirks of an animal. Another thing about real life crab diets: they are often bottom feeders and/or scavengers, thus they are adapted to get nutrients from miscellaneous pieces of flesh, possibly even rotten, that other animals won't eat. Therefore, not only is it reasonable for Mr. Krabs to enjoy chum, but ALSO it's reasonable for it to be nutritious and filling to him!

I think Plankton's obsession with & desire for commercial success is what drives his lust for power, as he is so envious of Mr. Krabs' business that he keeps doing absolutely everything to steal the Kraby Patty recipe or to outcompete the Krusty Krab, such that he resorts to evil & subjugation just to get at least one customer. By this logic, Plankton's struggles could be interpreted as a cautionary tale of envy & how it leads to villainy.

So there is this episode of SpongeBob where plankton opens a gladiator coliseum, and among the crowd is plankton trying to sell chumsticks, some lady fish asks him whats in it after eating it and being digusted and plankton list the following ingredients . Some jellyfish squeezings . A pinch of whale bluber . Sea horse snout . And a pinch of anchor rust So ingredients from creatures considered animals, shavings from a inanimate object, and one ingredient from a sentient species thats pretty rare in bikini bottom with no mention of fish, so not eating chum as a fish isn't cannibalism, but mr krabs is eating something that contains whale so I don't think pearl would be pleased even if krabs doesn't know.

I never imagined that chum was seen as canibalism in bakini bottom, we clearly see certain fish that are not sentient like sea horses and sea bears, who is to say that there can’t be any sea cows I also liked the idea that the secret of krabby Pattie’s is that they are also chum, only instead of just tossing it in a bucket and selling it as mr krabs actually properly prepares it and cooks it on a grill The secret formula was a trick to keep plankton from realizing the true reason krabby Pattie’s are so popular set by mr krabs because he knew Sheldon would be smart enough to figure it out if his ego didn’t get in the way, and for an old crustaceous sailor to have a supposed ‘formula’ on how to make food better than Sheldon a scientific genius would be the perfect thing to keep plankton up at night
