... a loud clang echoes as the pommel of Dob's rapier strikes the concrete beside the nearly incapacitated guard's head. Before he can recover an arrow whizzes past his face, lodging itself deep into the ground just beside fallen man's knee. What in the hell...? he thinks to himself as he turns back to see a crestfallen Merilwen standing beside the cart, recently expended bow in hand. He is about to call out to her when the air suddenly begins to crackle. Like a vampire roused from its slumber, Prudence slowly looms out from beneath the sheet, arms outstretched at her sides, eyes aglow with demonic fury. All the while, the sound of hysterical laughter can still be heard at the other end of the hall. Dob barely has time to duck before a torrent of arcane energy comes hurtling in the direction of the poor guard's face, melting it as well as the rest of his body into an unidentifiable pink paste. Corazon, alarmed by the commotion, finishes tying up the now softly sobbing entry man and returns to investigate. He finds Dob lying in the fetal position beside a crimson smear on the stone being looked upon by a shaken Merilwen and a rather huffy looking Prudence. "She she she..." is all the orc can manage, but the scene needs no explanation. Corazon gapes at Prudence in disgust. "I'm a pirate, and even I think that's bad." The tiefling only rolls her eyes. "You're welcome," is all she says.

You know, rewatching these old episodes and I'm realizing how good D&D is at promoting teamwork. Andy was very... Type A in the early episodes. But as time has gone on, he's much more flexible and cooperative. And Ellen, she's always been quiet and a bit passive, but she's gotten more confident since these episodes. GROWTH.

I'm not even entirely convinced there was a soul left for Cthulu after that... I think it was just pleased with Jane for fear of what she'd do to it if it wasn't. Something tells me this is more of a 'Cthulu worships Jane' than 'Jane worshipping Cthulu' type of setup here tbh... As someone who played a couple times I can confirm that they are playing it correctly. You can't play DnD wrong which is like the biggest selling point. It's all up to you and your imagination how you play and what is right or wrong.

@Timmy Teaches The current rules are pretty specific and clean, actually. You can play it "wrong" in terms of not even remotely in line with those rules (like using completely incorrect stats, giving abilities at wrong levels, etc) - that's why the game can be played competativesly (see: tournaments). It's just that "wrong" in the context of a home game is fine - you defended against what wasn't even a criticism.

I feel like the only things I spotted as wrong were Johnny calling for a Dex check on Prudence's Eldritch Blast- should use her spellcasting ability mod, Dob not getting advantage on a prone guard, and the guard's AC changing from 12 to 11, IIRC.

I will add my voice to the chorus of KEEP DOING THIS IT'S SO FUUUUUNNNNNN

I like how even a board game descends into absolute chaos when Oxbox and Oxtra are involved.

Jane steps up and no one is appreciative. That description though. A firecracker in a red velvet cupcake... Magical.

This was already the best thing ever, but I truly lost it at Dob's disguise. Please never stop doing this. Also Mike needs to join eventually and play a Wild Mage.

i can imagine a bunch of warriors trying to knock out this one guy and they keep failing horribly and a demon just pops out of the back of a cart and shoot a huge beam of death across the room and snipes the guard straight in the head from a mile away, leaving him headless.

"Who has the rat, by the way? The spicy, spicy rat." OXtra does come dine with me.

I was looking to see if anyone pointed it out. I got all twitchy when he kept telling Jane to use her Dex instead of Cha with her spell. That, and Eldritch Blast doesn't add your modifier to the damage unless you have (and use) the Agonizing Blast invocation, which you don't get until level 2. Yes, I am a nerd and bit of a "rules lawyer."

I have been laughing so much that I haven´t realized I watched both episodes in the glympse of an eye. I would genuinely see you playing this for many chapters and not get tired. Hurray for the video editor xD

I have said it before and i will say it again....... I love you guys. I have never been interested in D&D before watching Prudence, Merilwen, Dob and the thief :D. On their first ever adventure, I suppose i should mention his name....

Yep. Oxbox single-handedly managed to get me interested into D&D. I might even go out and try to find others who are as funny and wonderfully disorganized, yet also extremely intelligent and highly effective, as they are.

Try watching Critical Role. A little long but it is very funny.

You see i once was a guardsman like you but then a demon that kinda rekt me with tentacles (the arrow missed my Knee)

"Corazón, Prudence, Dob and Merilwen" is the most iconically D&D collection of character names I've ever seen.

Whenever Jane eldritch blasts that guy in the face I just imagine the scene from Halo 4. Or the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

This is my new version of a Saturday morning cartoon. Thrilling and mysterious villains, interesting if slightly inept heroes, an intriguing plot with spicy rats. What more could anyone ask for?

I was about to say, Prudence is my favourite now, after that Eldritch Blast! But then I remembered like, everything Corazón said, and Dob randomly attacking everyone after lying his way past them just fine, and Merilwen missing a prone target, and now I'm just... they're all my favourite.

Having finally gotten to finish watching this ep...where did they get all the gold to begin with? They spent the lockbox 15 on the horse, so what'd they give polearm guy? This game needs an accountant. (Then again, no idea how much they started off with.)

Yes...though no idea how much. Andy specified the lockbox 15 and the 5 he stole to make the 20 for the horse...which I still think 3 of which may have been Ellen's. It could be explained away as part of their plan they put together during the trip and just wasn't explicitly stated. There's normally starting money, often used to purchase starting equipment, but they haven't divulged such info, nor posted starting character sheets.
