    Thanks for this! When you rected to Across The Spiderverse and didn't react at all to Spectacular Spiderman during the intervention scene I was shocked you didn't knew who he was or why the short frase they gave him hurts so bad, so whenever you finish this 2 seasosn go back to rewatch that scene. Also did you know there was gonna be a season 3 that was supposed to introduce the Major Marvel Cameos like Avengers, X Men, Defenders and F4 that was meant to launch other character's shows i Within the same universe. Can just imagine that? When you finish season 2 let me know. Cheers. I didn't knew Rick's Authistic. I am myself, so can tell you Poison Ivy on Harley Quinn and Doom Patrol has already prepared you just fine to support you and that makes me smile.

    Ohhhhhh. I never got that. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word shocker used in reference to aftershocks and shockwaves. _Now_ it makes sense. Actually one of two villains I think this show didn't do that well compared to the comics. Though there really isn't any better adaptation either. The Texan accent was a side-effect of this guy being Montana of the Enforcers instead of Herman Schultz. It's not really a separate creative choice, just a side-effect of the character merge.

    It's a common misconception that tomato juice has any chemical reaction or effect on skunk spray and other strong odors. When in reality it's nothing to with the chemical compound or acidity of tomato juice, tomato juice just also has a strong smell. So people bathe in it to attempt to mask the odor of potent smells, since it's better to smell like tomatoes than skunk or garbage.

    I appreciate how on point Shocker's quip game is in this show. I always loved the Shocker's design, but he was actually an engaging character beyond aesthetics in this. It's not easy to go toe-to-toe with Spidey in a quip battle, but Shocker/Montana held his own. And as far as skunk encounters go, I once had a skunk come into a latrine I was using at scout camp. Little creep was only a couple feet away from me and I thought my number was up. It sniffed at me then turned around and left. Considering I was taking a scout camp food-fueled shit at the time (which is why I was out there in the middle of the night in the first place, emergency squirtles), I'd like to think that the skunk finally met it's match in stank and made a strategic retreat.

    Yeah, honestly it's just a straight up better show than this. Rewatching this it becomes really obvious how derpy the characterizations are, and how cheesy so much of the writing and acting is, and so much of the art style just doesn't really work for me. And the character designs are mostly a miss so far. Like Shocker's not terrible, but he's definitely a lesser version of the Shocker design, and the voice acting for him is silly and annoying. And they're already starting to make weird choices like Shocker not being Herman Schultz. This show does a few things here and there that I appreciate, and overall it's pretty good, but compared to Spider-Man The Animated Series, this one just doesn't hold up. Spider-Man TAS takes all the material so much more seriously, and tries to be so much more faithful to the comics, and voice acting is so much better in most cases, and the art style is so much better, and the music is infinitely better. Like I don't mind the Spectacular theme song (It's repetitive and slightly annoying, but there's something about it that I do like), and the Spider-Man TAS theme song isn't the best thing ever, but the score for Spider-Man TAS in general? It's utterly phenomenal. It's quintessential Spider-Man. Whereas THIS show might as well not even have a soundtrack for how little it contributes. The one thing this show REALLY does better than Spider-Man TAS is Mary Jane. TAS Mary Jane sucks, like most versions of Mary Jane. Spectacular has one of the very few good versions of Mary Jane in any medium.

    @@ieyke Don't get me wrong, 94’s Spidey is fun and I have a lot of nostalgic fondness for it, but personally Spectacular did everything better. It made much better use of a wider variety of characters, mixing some things up a bit while still sticking to the core personality traits that made them iconic in the first place(Spectacular’s MJ & Flash Thompson being the best examples) It had much better writing, drawing inspiration from the old comics stories but telling them in new and interesting ways. The action was much more intense and better choreographed, too, for obvious reasons. Plus on that last note, unlike with 94’s Spidey none of these efforts were held back by a ridiculous amount of runaway censorship. I mean, in 94’s Spidey they apparently weren't even allowed to admit that Uncle Ben was dead, for crying out loud. The only things I would put 94’s Spidey over Spectacular is music, art-style, comic accuracy, & it had more characters(because it aired 3 seasons longer).

  • @ieyke

    @ieyke

    22 күн бұрын

    @@mzakami3090 I mean no. Just sorry, but no. Spider-Man TAS does virtually every single thing better. Better characterization, better writing, better acting better animation better art style better story arcs. The nonsense about runaway censorship is complete bullshit. That was complete standard censorship for the time, and Spectacular Spider-Man doesn't do anything that Spider-Man TAS didn't do. It's no more action-packed or violent or whatever then TAS was. In fact, it's seemingly less violent than TAS was. A lot of the action in Spectacular Spider-Man is very truncated and simplistic compared to the animated series. Spider-Man just comes in and bang bang punch punch end of fight most of the time in Spectacular. There's no feeling of the stakes. There's no tension. There's no drama. The animated series had loads of interesting complex conflicts happening both in terms of fighting, and in terms of tension and drama. People look at Spectacular with some heavy heavy nostalgia lenses, and this idea that the animated series was more censored than normal in their heads. But when you actually watch the two shows back to back, none of that holds up.

  • @mzakami3090

    @mzakami3090

    22 күн бұрын

    @@ieyke That last paragraph you wrote is pretty ironic considering it’s so obvious you have nostalgic lenses for ’94 Spidey. I grew up with ’94 Spidey & even I can see Spectacular was the better show. The only characters in ’94 Spidey that get any sort of characterization/development are Eddie Brock, Curt Connors, & Kraven. The rest of Peter’s supporting cast played minor roles to even get any characterization, even Harry was rarely utilized until he became the 2nd Goblin, & even that story was pretty anticlimactic compared to how the Green Goblin storyline was handled in Spectacular. Spectacular handled all of Peter’s cast perfectly, even minor ones like Sally Avril & Sha-Shan Nguyen had roles to play in the series. The “Gangland” episode alone had more characterization & drama than ’94 Spidey. Regardless of how the censorship came to be, it doesn’t take away the fact that it affected the fight scenes of the ’94 series. Once again you’re being ironic calling Spectacular’s fight scenes “simple” when it’s not, all ’94 Spidey does is throw dropkicks, jumps around, shoots webs, grapples, & rolls around. ’94 Spidey rarely moves like an acrobatic compared to Spectacular due to the art-style of the show. Go watch “Spider-Man vs Wolverine” or “Spider-Man & War Machine vs Venom & Carnage”, ’94 Spidey barely even fights at all, he just jumps around or is rolling on the ground while grappling his opponents. Spectacular had wayyy better choreography & this isn’t even an opinion. Even in this reaction video at 6:12 Spider-Man does a leg sweep, the animation is way more fluid & choreographed here than in any of the fight scenes in ’94 Spidey. At 11:35 look at how fluid the animation of his acrobatics are when he’s dodging Shocker’s attacks. Spectacular had way better animation & fight choreography than ’94 Spidey. And this is all without even mentioning the absurdly fast pacing of the '94 series.

The evolution of the word to include "hot dog" comes from the extended magazine of a pistol, which is about the length of a hot dog._

    21:15 convo just made me think about this but I just finished Marvels The Punisher tv show and HOLY crap what a difference between characters. AS IN, Peter Parker keeps failing his loved ones in order to keep them safe as Spider Man. Frank Castle HAS nobody and uses that rage and detachment as the Punisher. Love Marvel characters and their poor screwed up lives😢

    Great to see your reaction to such a precious gem of a great, one of the greatest Spderman tv shows back there......when Disney hadn't yet sunk its claws into this! In the end Disney ruins this, like all the other projects they are involved too, and new seasons of Spectacular Spiderman cancelled by the hous of rat!

    Shocker is one of my three favourite comic villains - and he's also one of only two villains that I don't really like that much in this show (the other one debuts in Season 2, you probably know which one). He's too serious and badass. Shocker in the comics is one of the villains that I always thought kinda parallels Peter Parker the most perfectly, even though there isn't really any story that makes use of that fact. A lot of people say that "Doc Ock is what Peter would be like if he became a supervillain" - due to the bullying and the smarts. I kinda disagree though. I think supervillain Peter Parker would be like Shocker. Leaving aside the fact that I don't think Peter and Ock are really on the same level in terms of intelligence (though Peter's IQ varies wildly depending on writer, Dan Slott probably would disagree with me on this for example), I think their personality and background fits. Comic Shocker would totally have a Peter Parker lifestyle. He is a poor blue-collar self-made man with a scientific background that is chronically unsuccessful, everything he does blows up in his face and he ends up humiliated in pretty much every appearance he has in a comic, with other villains thinking of him as a joke. His professional life as a super-villain is a bit like Peter Parker's personal life in a way, and just like Peter, he has to take the constant abuse and humiliation despite the fact that if you take a step back and look at him, you realise he is actually one of the stronger villains in the Rogues Gallery. Spider-Man saves all of New York like some great powerful hero, comes home and then immediately assumes the role of the awkward scrawny young man begging his landlady not to evict him. Shocker is literally the only villain that could plausibly be in the same situation in the comics. He's kind of a villainous underdog that you are kinda rooting for half the time. In something like Superior Foes of Spider-Man he is simultaneously the greatest loser in the entire Rogues Gallery, routinely out-done by the likes of Boomerang or the Whizzer, and unable to steal a dog from a little girl because even she isn't afraid of him - but then he also lasts by far the longest in a fight with Iron Fist and Power-Man and ends up casually blasting the Punisher across all of Manhattan with a single blast. I kinda wish someone actually managed to really bring those aspects of the character into an adaptation. Instead they combined him with Montana, which kinda turns him into a completely different character. It's not offensively bad and I am not hating on this episode - it's perfectly fine. I just feel a little bothered when people say that this is the best Shocker - when in fact, by "fixing" his lameness, they kinda ruined my favourite aspect of his personality.

    Im surprised someone remembered Spider-man Unlimited, such a weird series I never got what really was going on. Use to think it was Marvels version of Batman Beyond. After Guardians of the Galaxy 3 came out is when I found out Spider-Man Unlimited takes place on Counter Earth with the High Evolutionary in charge, the cartoon makes a bit more sense now.
