Mike Oldham - Grenadier Guards then a school teacher, which is where I met him, training in Wimbledon. Five of us formed a band called Shades and went around South London playing in pubs and clubs. Later he emigrated and played in Boswell & Wilkie Circus before joining the Navy Band.

probably because my grandfather retired from the navy n this band in 1999.LOL on a serious note though no idea why there's no bass drum, however there are bongo drums, essentially providing the very same sound needed as a bass drum would. :-)

all i can say is the start of this video showcased Willie Van Zyl on sax, hes so LEGEND that the queens royal navy band wanted to recruit him within their numbers,he politely declined.YES over the years many members have come and gone,my grandfather included, however if i close my eyes,i hear the same music.have more of an open mind sir...the world has faaaaaaar toooooo much of a closed mind in current times.
