The Sound Of Tunisian Chaoui Language - Greetings + Phrases + Story

The Tunisian Chaoui Is A Language Spoken In Western Tunisia It's very simillar to the Algérien Chaoui accent but do have some differences in words here and there. At one point in history the Tunisian Chaoui was the dominant and official language in Today's Tunisia/Algeria and it is also known as the Numidian language.

    Wow this is so close to Rifian! Even me as diaspora born and raised in Europe understood most of it, so I bet Rifian borns would understand this without much problem and probably even be able to have a conversation.

    It's hard language if you are not northafrican .. but you can still manage to learn it. If you are North African it would be much easier because there are already many words in Tunisian Dialect that are from the Tamazight language in general. But like is said if you are interested in a language .. try to memorise words and work on the pronouncation...it is the biggest key of learning a language.

    In tarifit we use aghrib for stranger and imettawen for tears, this is also used by other imazighen like tachelhit chaoui kabyle etc. I believe barrani derives from arabic. Thank you for making this video its really suprising to see how many of our words are the same. Btw where do these chaoui berbers live in tunisia? Or is it the metmata dialect?

  • @TuNiSiA-TaMaZiGhT

    @TuNiSiA-TaMaZiGhT

    Yes that's true , Tunisia is heavily effected by Arabs speakers this is why words have been said that way , but we have the origin of Amazigh words , it's just not taught because we don't have schools teaching this. So they mix. But we are working now on a lexicon in Tunisia with pure Mazigh words that might be released this year! Not a single word that is devided from arabic is going to be used. The Chaoui Imazighen lives in Kesra, Siliana, Tamaghza, Gafsa, Tajerouine, Touzer, Maktar, Sakier Sidi Yousef , Thala, Ain Draham, all this is Chaoui area and many others. Also aghrib is from arabic, (gharib), there is other word for stranger and that is , amagar or amejjella or amugaz or anazil or anemenhegh or awerdani or imezdi or ugaman.... they all mean stranger .. our language is very rich , we just don't go to school , this is the problem.
