The Sound of Freedom - When Metal Detecting Becomes Secondary
Ойын-сауық
After three weeks of absence caused by my last traumatizing treasure hunt, I finally came back to the forest. My goal was to start somewhere else and move towards the place where I found two 1600’s silver coins. When I arrived at my destination point, I’ve chosen to move on as I wasn’t feeling comfortable close to a hiking path. This is a case of preferring peace over finds.
I then continued detecting in a modified area with a lot of young trees. Finds were few and far between, but at one point I happen to place the coil over a silver coin. It was a small and very thin “III Kreuzer” from 1811. A nice surprise and probably the highlight of this hunt, along with two badges from walking sticks.
But the most important find for me was a tree with a heavy duty string wrapped around. As the tree grew, it was unable to expand due to this nasty, tight obstacle that literally chocked it more and more as time passed by. When I was able to remove it, the noise it made sounded like freedom. After all I hope that at least this gave this outing a meaning.
I hope you enjoyed this adventure.
Thanks for watching!
🎧 The sound in this video was recorded in binaural audio. To benefit from this experience I recommend using a good pair of headphones.

Danke, es hat mich unheimlich gefreut, dass ich es entdecken und beseitigen konnte (die Funde waren zweitrangig). Viele Grüße!
A fantastic hunt and what super finds. The walking stick badge has cleaned up beautifully. 1811 coin. Such an honour to find. X

You had better finds than I did yesterday. Plus those mosquitoes and the heat.

I was very lucky with mosquitoes as there aren't any (at least for now). Must be a specific forest. I went on a hike somewhere else and it was real bad in comparison. I couldn't metal detect there at all, so I can understand how annoying it must be. I wish you luck and weather change!

Hi 24, glad to see you found and released those coins without mishap! Now maybe the monkey on your back has been tossed aside! I really felt your frustration when those silver coins were broken. Though i dont think they could have been retrieved whole considering the worn state. Take care. I look forward to next week's episode X from australia 😁

Thank you very much for this kind comment! I needed some time to get over it. The fragile coins can't even be cleaned. The slightest touch of a very soft brush destroys the surface. I haven't seen something like that before. The strange thing is, I found a few of these coins in different places of this area. I wonder what was going on there... Greetings to Oz!
With all those musket balls, you could get a small cannon and pretend they are cannon balls! Nice display on a shelf. I wonder if the person who wrapped the tree would like to wear that same item for as long on the tree? Thank you for 'freeing' the tree. That item at 1:09:52 is I believe the top of a smoke grenade. Used to create colored smoke.

Hello Mary, thank you very much for your comment and item ID (I haven't thought of it). I was wondering about the person who wrapped the string around the tree. I was angry at first as well, but then I thought that maybe people simply don't think "ahead". They don't realize how it might affect the tree in a few years. I mean, it's a strong tree and a plastic string, so maybe this could be an exception and excuse... But I've seen think metal wires wrapped around trees in the past as well. There is no excuse for this! If I had a small cannon, I could shoot my musket balls all day long, maybe for weeks ;). Have a great day! 👍

“Cow”. Lol!
I think the two badges are not from walking sticks but are from the front of bicycle steering tubes, the bicycle makers badges! Phil, UK

Thank you Phil, interesting suggestion. But I believe they are a little bit to thin for something solid like a bicycle. The (St. Hubertus) symbolic is something a hunter would prefer. But, who knows. Cheers! 👍
Liked it!

Thanks for watching. I used many detectors and liked some of them, but at the end of the day I prefer a light setup with intelligent audio. Have a great day!
