How they didn’t develop a Russian angle after Paulies screw up is one of the great soprano lost opportunities
@ceerious

they aimed for something atleast twice from what i remember from back then, first was they had a scene were Paulie was gonna take the russian out in season 6 but scrapped it. alot of people dont know, one of the "previous on the sopranos" leading up to the season 6b trailer had the russian in it. if someone can find it for me, we can talk about it.

I'm sure it was mentioned on the Talking Soprano's podcast that the Russian was supposed to be in a scene in a later season where he had brain damage and couldn't remember/talk abut what happened to him but the scene was scrapped.

I read that there was supposed to be a scene where Tony went back to Slava's, and Valery was supposed to be pushing a broom or something (with part of his head missing, of course). He was gonna stare at Tony like he knew something but could no longer speak. I read that on the Internet, to take it with a grain of salt.

Valeri was nothing but respectful, and Paulie had to disrespect him in his own house. Im glad Tony saw through Paulie's bullshit and made it clear to him that if it comes down to it he's going to pay the price. He now forces Paulie to be looking over his shoulder forever.

I love how this is the best episode despite there being actually better episodes.
He was clearly still alive and running when he was grazed. Plus the car just so happened to be gone overnight? And you don't think he was tracing where he was coming from like the ex commando he is. The reason you never heard from him was because he either escaped to Russia with the money and his money which is 10 x what it would be now. He didn't tell his friend because he knew him and Tony had business and by how things were going he wasn't sure If it would be in his favor, plus the same area around the mob. To all the theories saying he didn't tell his friend because he thought his friend put the hit out on him, I can debunk by referencing Paulie in this clip when he said , (paraphrasing here) " you know , we didn't come down to kill ya, it's your Big fucken mouth." That alone tells the Russian guy his friend had nothing to do with it. wow such a well put together series that leaves questions for us to find out and studying to do decades later.

The presented cinematics are good enough to be honored, but in my opinion if the moment where Christopher was begging some russian mobster for his life and the gun has shoten the empty round during the very first episodes of "The Sopranos", would've been added along those cinematics, this moment definitely would've been "the very icing on the cake".
