Mel tries to alleviate the tension by saying how he's Jewish too, and that personal bias shouldn't affect his decision. Clearly it didn't work.

Junior was a tough mob boss. It took a microphone from a cute reporter to bring him down. The problem with faking dementia is that sometimes it's hard to tell when the faking ends and the real dementia begins. Junior's case was dismissed, and Bobby got the muffin basket, so everyone was happy.
