I wonder, and I expect this to be considered a bad idea, but what if a cult formed from the remnants of the Sons of Horus to try and give rise to a warp entity that was a sort of twisted version of Horus, that was created by being a sort of "tear in the warp" when the Emperor deleted him? Like, it isn't the real Horus, but a sort of shadow of him?

@@wikipediaintellectual7088 I wish they had actualy put in as much effort into Horus and his legions fall that they did for Huron. You can agree with almost every move he made getting shat on by the imperium. I'd have prefered skirmishes like Prospero to start between individual legions that Horus tries to step in to stop, but only ends up galvanising the emergent "loyalists" and "traitor'" sides more. Perhaps Horus steps in to save a peaceful Alien civilisation that tried to ally with him, and is forced to kill imperial army or Space wolves to do so, standing up for the newly conqured worlds with a general confusion of command between the imperium, since he is the warmaster, the emperors apointed ruler, yet the wolves and administratum are under orders from the Siglite, the emperors right hand. All the while the word bearers twist this further, provoking more confrontations and finaly as things realy go to hell Erebus turns Horus and begins instigating chaos corruption through the seperatist side, till eventualy, after several assasination attempts and the begining of fullscale war the seperatists decide to purge their ranks in Istvaan of all those unwilling to oppose the emperors vision.

@@chromicm6686 Could it have been done better? Sure. Personally I think the timing for chaotic corruption was way off. It was completely unecssary to have not only the Horus' fall but the galaxy spanning war fought by demigods occur over such a short period of time. It has taken significantly longer for the Horus Hersesy books to come out than it took for the Horus Heresy to end. I think your ideas could've addressed that by making things more gradual. With that exception, though, I really, really like the first three horus heresy novels. They even managed to make Abaddon a compelling character.

Quick correction, the interex actually supassed the imperium of man in technological prowess. They had more advanced, far more manuverable power armor that anyone could wear without issue, bows that shot arrows of energy that could instantly kill space marines, and IIRC; they also had functioning men of iron that didnt betray them, and were aware of the dangers of chaos.
I won’t lie, I genuinely LOVE the Sons of Horus, and plan on getting and painting a SoH army for 30k and a True Sons army for 40k. From their color scheme, which idk why but the gold and dark green with the contrast of big red Eyes of Horus just looks so baller to me, to the whole “suped up, disciplined ganger” aesthetic they have, kinda similar to the NL with their culture being heavily influenced by Nostroman gang culture. In fact, when it comes to their aesthetic, like many other legions have their own “aesthetics” (WS=Mongols, DA=Classical Knightly Orders, IF=US Marines and Teutonic Knights in a blender), the SoH have a blend of that ganger culture and the Roman Kingdom. Where as Bobby G and the Blue Crew are more akin to Late Republic/Imperial Rome, SoH feels like the early Roman Kingdom; a gaggle of tough as nails marauders that can beat people around because of their discipline, while not sacrificing their savagery

Regarding recruiting gangers for the Sons of Horus: the Space Wolves were recruited from viking raiders, and Alpharius and his initial handful of followers were space pirates, so it's not like this kind of thing is exactly unprecedented in the Imperial military. It even works out okay quite a lot of the time: the Armageddon and Necromundan regiments of the Imperial Guard recruit from hive gangers, and they both have a highly-respected history of service.

This is informative but so damn funny. Think I will have to watch the rest.
I can see the advantages of the 16th and the signs of what they will become. On one side gangs are very similar to armies. They have a strict hierarchy, the people who make up it's members see each other as brethren of a sort and they work towards a common goal involving violence. Unlike military organizations though, gangs see themselves and their leader as the endpoint. Whatever the leader wants to do the gang do too, as long as it serves the gang's interests. After Horus took command of the legion they were no longer servants of humanity, they were Sons of Horus.
I’d started writing that you are just wrong, it’s all Erebus fault. And then I heard you speak my mantra, “Fuck Erebus.”
Imho after reading the Horus Heresy it seems like most of what happened was on traitor Primarchs/their seconds/Erebus and now they blame the loyalists despite being directly responsible for the shitty state Imperium is in and also perpetuating the war with Imperium hence damning and destroying humanity further.
As a SoH player in HH loved the vid
Horus looks like Musolini
If you want 40k Sons of Horus you're probably looking for Thrice-Cursed Traitors: the True Sons, the Wolves of Horus or the Sons of the Eye (could hypothetically regroup and escape from the Black Legion's ranks). The Chosen of Heiros left Black Legion for some reason, not sure what's going on with them. I like warbands like this because it's easy to follow what's known and fill in whatever you want with the rest. You want them to run around with Vashtorr? to embrace Khorne and/or Tzeentch but they reject Slaanesh and Nurgle? maybe you don't like Abaddon, so your Abaddon is actually a fake, (an ancient Alpha Legion Praetor) running around uniting Thrice-Cursed stragglers and using them for cryptic schemes (and maybe even your "Abaddon" model is sporting the old green as a ploy to recruit them).

Dunno if you know or if anyone cares but there is a faction of Sons of Horus who still exist in 40k. The "True Sons of Cthonia" are a warband who keep their colors and legion culture and hate Abby and the Black Legion. They also are just renegades so rarely use Chaos. Great video!
We have a reason for Horus turning traitor, Chaotic infestation while unaware of how to defend himself combined with Chaos showing up a vision out of context. However, we don't have a reason for his legion joining his rebellion. We don't even really have that for the Emperor's Children, either. We really only have a reason for Perturabo and the Iron Warriors...um...I mean, there's the Night Lords and all but they didn't so much "rebel" as went AWOL. There's also the Word Bearers, they had a good reason as they felt betrayed and abandoned by their god and all their beliefs and view of the world smashed into their faces by him personally. But, yeah, the Sons of Horus didn't really have a motive beyond "Daddy said so". Same for the Death Guard and really the vast majority of Traitor Legions.
