I did the exact same thing trying to press my frets in with a drill press. I broke the table right off and ended up gluing the caul to an F-clamp to press them in. This took all day. Next time I am gonna try using a radius block with a clamp to press them in. Cool build man, I like the wood choices!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't forsee it happening. I think I'm going to move on from using the drill press as well. And thanks man, the next episode really shows off the woods really nicely

I caved and bought those stewmac deluxe tang nippers and instantly regretted it due to the cost. Finally used them on the weekend and couldnt believe how well they worked. I'm going to nip the tang of every fret I install just so i can use them more. You need some tangs nipping?

lmao, thats the thing about StewM, expensive as hell, but the work well -usually. You're right though, I should use them on everything going forward

Great episode! Really enjoying seeing this one come together. I recently learned to support the base of the drill press when pushing in frets, I think you can break them pretty easily. Very interested in how the dust in the fret ends works out. Cheers Randy 🍻
