    Actually Merton distinctly uses the term *Communism* and not communalism, perhaps deliberately so, especially when speaking against the rise of facism.

    You loosed your objectivity here. Philosophy is just metaphysics and sociology is also metaphysics. I don't know why you would let your prejudice reduce your objectivity. Are are insecure ?

    "It was hard for Eddington to go out and test Einstein's ideas because Einstein was German and Eddington was British? And they were at war?" Are you implying that Einstein was fighting *with* the Nazis?? Einstein was Jewish, man! He had to flee Europe exactly because of the Nazis!

    This was during World War 1. The Germans and the British were on opposite sides of that conflict, too.
