I was about 10 when they were popular in the 80’s. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see the Smiths. But saw Morrissey a few times during the Bona Drag, Kill Uncle and Viva Hate days.

Still can’t get over how flawless his voice is. It’s actually better live.

The whole band are legends in their own right. The lyrics are sublime and Morrissey's voice with Johnny's magic fingers just couldn't be any more perfect. This whole album is like a time machine and I'm back in the glorious, one of a kind 80's. No words just emotions!

Pure beauty. Pure poetry. Pure truth. Forever the best x

Hi, sorry about the delay in replying. It was a great night. I was only fifteen or sixteen at the time. I went with a group of schoolfriends on the bus to Derby Assembly Rooms*, a ride of about fourty minutes. We were early so we went down by the river to smoke some very ineptly rolled spliffs before going in. I think we were way too young to get served beer. I knew a handful of the songs, but many were new to me. There were loads of gladioli thrown from the balcony. Magical. *Still open.

@@clarissagarcia3422 Hi Clarissa - yes, they were extraordinarily good. My personal highlight was 'These things take time' - it was the first time I'd heard it and it blew me away. I love the lyrics ''these things take time/and I know that I'm/the most inept that ever stepped'' and ''the alcoholic afternoons/when we sat in your rooms/they meant more to me than any living thing on earth''. It's such a shame that Morissey has turned into a dickhead these days.

High school, riding through Georgetown with some cool seniors, heading to K Street with our fake ID's to sneak into the Fifth Column. Feeling so free and optimistic about my future. I hear this song for the first time. I buy the LP the next day. If i could only go back to that day.

I burst out laughing the first time I heard the line "I dreamt about you last night and I fell out of bed twice." I found out later Jimmy said it in A Taste Of Honey.

Mike Joyce was a brilliant drummer especially for the no thrills rhythm section in the smiths it wouldnt be the same but i totally agree the smiths legacy is so strong their would be no need for a reformation
