@@Alex-ke6uo I went on it this week and I got some crazy airtime particularly on the second hill, but less so on the first. I was in the back row iirc. Definitely the best part of the layout is that transition into and out of the second airtime hill.

Zantesuken11 yeah nice. That transition is beautiful on the second airtime hill. Definitely my favourites inversion before the second airtime hill the sea serpent roll. But yeah I unfortunately don’t feel airtime on the smiler. I wish I did. I think it’s because I’m on the bigger side.

This coaster isn't focused on airtime or drops. It's all about the hangtime from those stalled inversions. Adding a beyond-vertical drop would be like adding random airtime hills to a B&M Flying Coaster.

I finally plucked up the courage to go on The Smiler today (I am petrified of most rides but try to force myself to go!). I was really scared before this one - but it was so much fun… if you fear feeling dizzy, you honestly don’t feel that bad. If you can ride nemisis you can ride the smiler! I enjoyed it so much I then went straight to oblivion and faced that fear too 🤣

I felt a bit dizzy on the first part before the vertical lift but that little pause before you go up got me back to normal. Best coaster ever though!

I didn’t even realised we went upside down in the tunnel at the beginning, I looked at my friend and said ‘did we go upside down then?’ ... awesome ride!

@@lindastephens if you go through a vertical loop too fast then it could really hurt and the g forces would be stupid. Considering the tree height limit i dont think that they would be able to fit a loop. If they do they might need to dig a bit so the loop can be bigger.

I went on this today after years of panic attacks and anxiety problems.....finally broke my fear and can honestly say what a fabulous rollercoaster. My favourite 😊

ianbav ok ok ok, I got to 1.4 when I was ten. Your daughter must be huge (in a good way). I’ve never been on smiler for when I was 9 I was flipping Tiny. I’m going again tho soon. I’m giving you unnecessary information but still. I only just got on Nemesis inferno at Thorpe so I’m hoping they’ll let me on all the other rides. Btw your daughter must be brave to ride the smiler. I mean, I’m still scared of going on Rita. Just a tip: use transportation, start from Wicker Man, and head backwards unless it’s strong winds, smiler only operates under 32MPH winds therefore if it’s a little windy try start from x sector to Forbidden Valley and Galactica. If you do all of it just before the end of the day, try and go for the shortest queue. Sorry for typing to much. But your welcome.

This coaster looks so smooth, I’d honestly ride it I’m a sucker for inversions 😂

On these videos where nobody screams at all I like to imagine a rollercoaster train filled with people who are completely bored out of their minds

Absolutely the best rollercoaster I've been on, apart from Kumba. It was so thrilling and the creepy music added to the exhilarating fear. I first rode front row in 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it. Great coaster for single rider option too. You can be on and off in as little as 15 minutes.

Omg huge coincidence i found out we were going Alton towers only a couple of days after the vlog!!!🤣🤣 just came back and is still my fav theme park!!

This year, I feel like the area around smiler needed a little more clean up, like where the queue line is. Also, the smilers track looked like it needed a good jet wash .

True across the entire park unfortunately. This year (2020) all rides except Wicker Man are starting to look seriously scruffy which is so sad to see - Smiler was immaculate only a few years ago and now is looking very neglected. Maintenance seems to have slipped a lot recently and Merlin really need to get a grip on looking after their existing rides before building any more new ones.

@@vwozone yea alot of the rides need cleaning up, especially nemesis. The pond underneath the loop needs cleaning, its got leaves, masks, hats and shoes in the water. They did stop running the waterfalls for a while in September and October to drain the water, but i went back on halloween and they were running the waterfalls again and it was not clean, it looked way more messy than it did before, back in September or even July/August. But yea the rides to need some TLC

This is the only roller coaster I've been on where I've genuinely been dizzy at the mid section and end of the ride.

They should add a tunnel part with swirly lines so like a hypnotising looking tunnel

i live across the whole world and still decided to watch this

Went on for the first (two) times this week! This ride is sick!!!!! Came off and was so dizzy my head was all over the place. Brilliant video, can’t wait to go back and ride it again!

is it just me or is there now audio playing in the area where the indoor heartline roll is? (not the pre lift brake run)

First time I went on this my mum was trying to talk to me and I just screeched “sHuT uP” (3:01 is when it happened 😂)

Did u know that the smiler photo shops u to make u smile in ur pic 👍🤔

The most creepiest things on that ride is the laugh and when you come of the ride smiling

Who else is getting recommended this after the Tom Simons vlog?

When you're waiting in line and the music start's playing, (seriously go listen to the theme of this ride, it's an absolute banger!)

Probably the coolest looking coaster I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

Best ride in England. Variety in inversions and loops, Long Length, Comfort, Intensity and great concept. Usually you get one or three if you're lucky. This has it all 🤙🏾

Can’t believe I just went on this ride. I got to Alton towers and this was the first one I went on. There is so many extra precautions and feels so save. Deffo recommend x

I wish that Merlin Would bring back the rides original theme in the future as the ride can obviously be see where it changed (correction block and halfway). The company could relaunch The Sanctuary at scare fest as well as SubTerra. This would therefore for the parks 40th birthday bring more recent rides to the park. The park is now becoming more trusted again with only 3 accidents in 40 year whereas disney has an accident each year at their locations. The ride should be restored as content still remains in place and promotes the get corrected aspect. The Smiler is amazing but i feel the ride has decreased in quality as time has gone on since 2016. The ride keeps having aspects removed. Galactica also have bad audio and you can hear where the video was cut.

i thought one of the reasons they removed parts was out of respect. due to the awful smiler accident (although the ride was safe and it was just serious human error)

2:40, that is pretty menacing, I love it

went on this ride for the first time today! I was new to rollercoasters and was absolutely bricking it. Bloody loved it!!! Highly recommend if your nervous of rollercoasters, it’s a real ice breaker!!!

I went to Alton Towers last Sunday, I was so exited to go on the smiler, we went on most of the big rides first and then we went to the smiler last, and then at the last minute I chickened out and now I regret it so much 😔😂

I went today and didn’t want to go on at first and then I regretted it and went on it in the end 😂. I found it really fun and I really recommend it 👍

If you're going to go on it next time, try to sit in one of the middle seats and not on the end. It can be pretty rough and hurt your shoulders a bit.

I’m glad that I only live 1 hour away from this theme park because all of the rides there are super cool..

Anyone that’s afraid to ride the smiler, Don’t be!! It’s a little nerve wracking when you’re queuing and the trains are roaring above your head,, But when you get on it’s the most worth it thing ever!! Best ride in my opinion. Truly incredible experience!!
