I was kind of in the same boat for a while. Radiohead used to be my favourite band but I only knew Thom and never bothered to look up the names of the other members. I discovered Jonny's film scores from the movie Licorice Pizza and spent about 6 months being obsessed with it before googling him and finding out he was in Radiohead.

Have you showed him the Radiohead/The Smile stuff? If so, how was his reaction?

This is literally an alternate time line I'm experiencing here on KZread. Jonny playing the bass and Thom doing the crazy guitar fireworks. Quite the music role reversal, like WOW!!! And yet, the results are genuinely rewarding to see.
Seeing Tom smile while playing and grooving, is great to see, especially after just watching meeting people is easy

And also his confidence and sense of humor. Qualities that I knew Thom would drop hints of here and there. But now with The Smile, they really expanded and are now at the forefront. He's not concerned about being a perfectionist anymore because he's already achieved that status (Jonny too). Now he justs wants to bust out, rock out, and have fun like there's no tomorrow.
That guitar riff makes me fill like being lifted upwards to the sky. Great shit.
These guys definitely have a promising career ahead, wish them luck 🤞
Love the fact they are doing these spots on this tour, you would never expect to see Radiohead on KEXP or NPR Tiny Desk!

More of this, Thom, please. Energy, distortion! Enough with the crooning, slow stuff. ROCK OUT!
So good! Thanks KEXP! for 50 years you have consistently been bringing us the good stuff..Jonny and Thom=dream team.
A fabulous way to get a smile on my face!

this grooves so hard
Great
their best song by far.
Okay - if the studio version owed a nod to Magazine....adding a sax clinches it!!!! 😎
I love this fuck'n song, thanks the smile and kexp!
Atm this vid has 9.8K views, and I think I’m probably two hundred of them. So good.
This reminds me a lot of early Broken Social Scene. This 1:42 is fantastic.
The Smile
De huevos The Smile
REALLY FINE
Fuck yeah
This is what being born speaking music sounds like
One of the best rock performances of all time; loose and tight, concise, the real deal. Just would have brought the sax forward some more.

funny how Thom censored himself on TV but not on the radio
What a talented bunch. They could be the next Radiohead
