The small Renanthera Orchid who could! - Renanthera citrina

Today we take a look at a small but impressive orchid! a species that blooms for the first time for me!

Given where this orchid lives www.orchidspecies.com/rencitri... it's no wonder she is perfectly happy with heat and cold, couldn't care less about humidity, but demands its water!
The citrina is a small orchid, but can grow very tall with time. It produces spidery, lemon yellow flowers, which have no fragrance, but are magnificent! With age it can produce an impressively long and branchey spike!
My story with Renantheras is not glamorous, but I always managed to keep them vegetatively happy, unless other problems occurred.
Here is my biggest one in an Orchitop pot • Repotting Renanthera o...

I have learned so much from you..my husband got me my first phal a few months ago..I rescued a sick phal from Lowe's at half price, pretty decent, a few roots we're rotted and bought a small one at Kroger's, it was stuffed with moss and some rotting the plastic pot was disfigured because how tight it was in it's pot. I repotted all. Since I am new to this I have watched a lot of your videos..so grateful for you and how you share your knowledge with the rest of us. I am still struggling with what medium to use though...I am using orchid mix from Lowe's...stays do dry..I live in Chillicothe, Ohio..and right now it can be close to 80s and 50ish at night one day and then drop to the 40's during the day and low 30's at night... I'm thinking maybe I should have incorperated more moss..but so afraid of rotting roots, maybe I'll experiment someday... Hugs;) Have a great day! #allreadyobssesedwithorchids #myhusbandstarteditall;) I

Will you consider cutting in photos or video of the buds of future blooms? I love watching bud development & how different buds look.

Dani, I would appreciate it if you could do a video on Renantheras. I have a couple that just "exist". No new growth, etc. Perhaps now that the growing season is beginning that might change. I have mine in baskets like my Vandas. Should I repot them in leca? Thanks for your help.

My apologies. I have rhynchostylis and need help with them. I have them hanging in small baskets outdoors with my vandas. I need some guidance to get them jump started. Thanks. (I did enjoy watching your video on renanthera.)

ive had my renanthera (i think john losgar?) for about a 1.5 years and ugh i feel so bad for it! i havent seen it do anything but make leaves! no roots no flowers just leaves! and it grows ever so slowly i think it will me my first and last renanthera. i originally had it potted in bark but then i noticed its roots turned red, almost purple and it wasnt because they were exposed to the sun as they were complety covered. it only produced on root since ive had it and it started out very thick but as soon as it dug into the bark it became skinny, so i figured it was the bark and it wasnt giving it enough air flow and reppoted in clay media. so far nothing if anything it looks worse the remaining roots became stressed and look like theyre gonna go :(
