It is in redouble how far this has dropped over the years. I first was there in ‘05 and it was low. Then went back in 2014 and it had dropped 30’ or so more. Was really shocking. Especially comparing to the bathtub ring.

You should have seen it back in the early 80s when the surplus water in Lake Mead was pouring over into the spillway tunnels. It's a roaring sound I'll never forget, and it was an absolutely amazing sight to see water move with such force through the man-made structures

The record surface elevation was recorded on July 24, with more than two feet of water spilling over the raised spillway gates of Nevada and Arizona. The record flows through the spillway tunnels again caused erosion in the concrete base, which had to be repaired. High water was responsible for wide spread damage throughout the project.

I remember visiting in '83 as a kid. There was a permanent rainbow created by the water falling into this (Arizona side) spillway. I also remember huge fish going on over the weir and down the chute. Carp or catfish. I Also remember Echo Bay motel being under water and boating around the tops of Palm trees sticking out of the lake!

I was just thinkin like a week ago, how insane would it be to have a water park where theres a slide thats secure, its closed in & you cant fall out, but the incline goes almost straight down for like 300 feet, to the point you are basically flying inside, then at the slightest incline you start to straighten out slowly so you dont get rag dolled in there as you align and begin to reach the bottom. Something aeronotically engineered to have the most thrilling descent.

Maybe there's a Gundam down there, a badass Mobile Suit just waiting to get activated

I was there with a friend in ‘83, standing near where the people in the video are at. Our clothes were drenched like you were standing in the shower. And within 5 minutes of leaving the dam, our clothes were completely dry!

I stood at the same place last year and just got the eeriest feeling.

Thats one of the tubes. You know, when they say the whole worlds going down the tubes.

I've stood in that very place several times and pictures don't do it just. The size of that tunnel is breathtakingly enormous. It gave me vertigo just staring into it. The Hoover dam is a marvel of engineering that has to be experienced in person to appreciate it's size .

I’d love to be able to plug in my bass guitar near there and check out the acoustics , imagine the chilli peppers playing a concert in there 😱

The Johnstown Flood, sometimes referred to locally as Great Flood of 1889, occurred on Friday, May 31,1889, after the catastrophic failure of the South Fork Dam, located on the south fork of the Little Conemaugh River, 14 miles (23 km) upstream of the town of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. The South Fork Dam ruptured, after several days of extremely heavy rainfall, releasing 14.55 million cubic meters of water. With a flow rate that temporarily equalled the average flow rate of the Mississippi River. The Johnstown Flood of 1889 killed 2,208 people and accounted for US $17,000,000 (equivalent to about $580,000,000 in 2024) in damage.

@@stormhound1973 There are exercises and techniques to lucid dream more often, just google them. Here's a quickstart guide: 1- Set your alarm about 1 hour earlier than normal. When you get waken up, go back to bed, this 2nd sleep will be much lighter and more dream filled. 2- Pick up a reality check habit. For example, look at yourself in a mirror at the top of every hour. This habit will carry over when you're sleeping, and when you see that your reflection in the mirror looks weird, you're probably dreaming. Stay calm, try to take control of the dream without waking up.

i took a tour there about 12 years ago and the tour guide told us they had someone who jumped off the tour bus into that tunnel. Never to be seen again!

This is the first KZread video I've ever seen (of thousands) in which the comments of the people making it enhance it rather than detract from it. It's because they're expressing their genuine reactions spontaneously, not "performing" or trying to impress anybody. Very good job!
