The horrors of the slave trade should never be forgotten. Thank you for showing this small part of it.

Saw this island only from the sea side, and even from there it was looking impressive. This place is full of history.

Ludo thank you for allowing me to join you and your family on this most relaxing, easy going tour. The local citizens of the village had a peacefulness and calmness about them. The contrast of the varied architecture styles and colors is striking. I appreciate you for taking the time to explore and explain the history of the fort slave holding buildings. This island does not have the typical touristy feel to it. Actually it had a local community normal everyday vibe. The food looked yummy! I also appreciate you for walking through the knee pain and hope you find treatment to eliminate or at least decrease the pain.

I am currently reading How the Word it Pass by Clint Smith and he has a chapter dedicated to Goree Island. Thank you for taking me there! Excellent book about the history of slavery in America.

Watching this video while imagining what happened in the past makes me angry

To think slavery is still prevalent albeit not as overt as it used to be...so sad. Thanks for sharing as I hadn't seen this Island before.

Hello✌, interesting video but: is it really good to look too much at the past? Shouldn't it be better to keep an eye on the present, because in the present, many people are setting off, paying a lot of money to be able to travel across the seas in small boats (many also pay for this journey with their lives) and then go to countries come that they don't want and in which these people then live worse than in the countries from which they came! I live in Berlin Germany (the supposedly rich country where everyone is supposed to be better off) AND I see a lot of people from all countries living on the streets, begging for money, having nothing to eat and a lot of them returning home the countries from which they came are brought. PEOPLE IF YOU CAN BORROW THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FUND A TRIP LIKE THIS, FORGET THE TRIP AND BUILD A BETTER LIFE WITH THAT MONEY IN YOUR COUNTRIES SO THAT MONEY WILL BE MUCH BETTER USED THAN A TRIP TO EUROPE!!!😉
